Had he a good or even decent secondary ( or at times something other than horrible coverage LBs) for more of his early years, he would have ended up with better sack numbers. Good coverage = more time for D-lines to cause an impact where tenths of a second count

As an Eagles fan that play was infuriating because it NEVER should've resulted in a TD. The Eagles DL owned the LOS and the Niners wouldn't have won the game even if Purdy didn't get hurt on a Reddick strip sack. • It really broke my heart that people say the Eagles only won bc Purdy was out. As if it wasn’t because of that Eagles Defensive Line that he got knocked out of the game in the first place. Another excuse that people used that made me upset was the excuse that the Niners could only run the ball. In a way it’s valid, but I’ve also seen the Eagles DESTROY teams by ONLY running the ball and everyone including the other team KNEW what was coming and they could do a damn thing about it. That is the mark of a truly dangerous team. The Eagles won that game fair and square. They earned that victory like all their other victories. And the times they lost, well the other team earned that win. Give the Eagles their props. They are legit. KC should be on high alert. But sadly I don’t think it’ll matter, the Eagles are just too good. They were the most consistent team this year and I think that’s ultimately why they’re so damn dangerous. They execute at a high level and they do it over and over and over again.

    • @@shootthechit Yes, of course it had an effect, that’s not the point I was trying to make. The point I was trying to make is that the Eagles defense won that game. The Eagles disrupted the entire offense of the Niners. Then they ran the ball down their throats. It’s not like Jalen Hurts had a ton of passing yards. They ran the ball for almost the entirety of the second half and the Niners knew they were running the ball and you know what? They couldn’t do jack shit about it because the Eagles proved that they are just better than them. Stronger than them. More disciplined then them. Give them their props.

Reddick is too fast. The Eagles are just a better team point blank. Niners ran into a defense that was as good or better than them.

  • one thing to note about Brandon Graham as well is that he tore his Achilles last season in Week 2 in a game against the 49ers. honestly having one of his best seasons; 11 sacks on the year and cannot be understated how beneficial the depth of the dline has been. should've been nominated for comeback player of the year

  • Excellent breakdown 👌🏿. We can analyze this game all we want but at the end of the day one team had a Qb and the other didn't. Eagles did what they needed to do and deserved to move on but we really don't know the Eagles win regardless. I don't think anyone in the league respects JJ as a passer and once he was gone all the Eagles had to do was play the run. Congrats to the Eagles to making it to the bowl but the football gods robbed us of a really good match up. Hopefully we can run it back next year.

    • I agree. Unfortuantely, the players play and the coaches put them in position. And Kyle Shannahan put the 49ers in a losing position with his bad schemes (a TE against Reddik??). And worse than that, after Purdy got knocked out, Shanahan made no adjustments and then JJ got knocked out. As an Eagles fan, I was robbed of seeing a good game. But the 49ers lost due to bad coaching, just as the Eagle won due to good coaching (and better schemes).

    • @Ross Kramer I see alot of saying it's Kyle's fault (mostly 49er fans) Purdy got hurt because of bad scheme. Here's my thing.. if it's a bad scheme when your Qb gets injured then it's a bad scheme when it worked the other 50 times we ran it. You can't have it both ways when we've been running that playaction all year and the TE makes the block. Idk how people call Kyle a genius because his runs and passes look the exact same but in the same breath say his scheme is bad because Reddick made a play and the Qb got hurt. Brocks injury was a freak accident I've seen plenty of Qbs get their arm hit while throwing that didn't result in a ligament tear in the elbow. I'm not sure what adjustments you wanted him to make with the 4th string Qb. He literally fumbled a snap that gave the Eagles 7 points before half.

    • @@Nvme18 Niners were running play action on teams successfully but none of them had 4 d lineman with double digit sacks. Reddick is probably the fastest edge rusher in the league. Shanahan and the OC should have been able to see that from film sessions. The eagles had 70 sacks during the regular season. I guarantee Reid won't have Reddick singled up on a TE. One on one with a starting TE is a mismatch let alone a back up. McGlinchy was outmatched as well. Purdy would have been battered had he played the whole game.

  • Good analysis, its kind of difficult to evaluate as the game was essentially over after Purdy went down. Shanahan should have challenged the non catch as it likely would have changed the game. • Both defense played great. 49ers defense was only wore down due to being out on the field too long with no QB (quick 3 and out). 49ers held Hurts to barely any passing game. Had Purdy not been hurt, it’d be a low scoring game and a coin toss.
