    • You’re wrong you’re so wrong. These “gambles” are always judged based on results not the wisdom of the decision itself. You remember the “Philly Special”? That was on its face one of the stupidest gambled of all time in a Super Bowl. Snapping it to a RB who pitched to a TE who threw it to a QB running a route? That’s idiotic and stupid. The only reason it’s called one of the most amazing play calls ever is because it worked. Sean Payton onside kick was objectively dumb. If it doesn’t work you give Peyton Manning a short field to go score easily. It’s known as super courageous because the Saints recovered it. Yes Dan Campbell is bold but that’s what got the lions here there’s no reason to stop now. If they had not gone for those 4th downs and the 49ers still win DC would’ve been clowned as shrinking in the moment and going away from the strategy that brought Detroit here to begin with. Yes the calls were risky no doubt but they were good plays that simply didn’t work out. Stop playing MMQB and give DC credit for taking chances keeping his foot on the pedal and giving his franchise a chance to win in the end

When I see a team go for a first down and it's 4th and 2 or 1, and the team does not have to do it, I either start to watch something else or I choose to root for the other team that is playing the odds with intelligence.

    • @cperry7267ANBFPro I understand what you mean. It's like the guy who laid out the idea of always going for a 2-point conversion after every TD scored, because statistically if you miss, you can always make a few points up with a field goal. So the best thing would be to become good at converting those plays. That would be good for any team if their success rate was 95% and up. However, no team has ever, or will ever play like that. Lol.

The first one was admittedly far too risky in my opinion, but it's not like doing that one is stupid or anything. Would have been better to just grow the lead with a field goal, but they were up 14 so it wasn't too bad. The second on tho was definitely a good play to make. A field goal would have tied it up, but then it goes to the 49ers and they could just get another field goal to win. The touchdown there would have given them enough leeway so they would win even with another field goal from the 49ers.
