#AmericanAirlines #AA80 #Super80Sendoff
Here it is everyone! Try to hold back your tears! Today we're flying on, for the very last time, an American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-83. Join me as we fly from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Chicago (ORD) on American flight 80. Filmed yesterday, this video was definitely bittersweet to make. Enjoy!
Thanks for making this great video. I think we had our best 138 customers on that flight (many of them AA employees, many long time loyal customers). Greg made the takeoff from the right seat at DFW and I (Clint) made the landing in the left seat at ORD. Those are the best parts to watch in the video. I did the TO from ORD and he did the landing at ROW. Thanks to you all for making that otherwise depressing day so fun and memorable. I thought the flight attendants really MADE the day.
@@CB-bb8hz Captain, I think I speak for everyone one on who was on the flight. It was our honor to fly with you and Greg at the controls. You, and the entire crew made this a truly amazing flight. The Super 80 couldn't have had a better crew to fly her into retirement! Thank you all (the entire crew, and everyone at American who played a part) for making it such a wonderful flight!
@@sla31 FAs were awesome. "Get off the call lights". 😂 I was dying
Wow did you ever make my day with this video on such a bittersweet day on the Retirement of one of my all time favorite aircraft to fly and to ride! - Thank you So So much for paying tribute to the AA Super 80 and allowing those of us who could not make the last Pax journey on Flight 80 with you all the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and AA Super 80 Goodness many of us out here so loved to fly! Even though I did not get to join you guys I was there in spirit the whole way! As a Pilot and a huge AvGeek to the extreme, I knew your routing to ORD would probably take you very close to my home here in Central Illinois so I tuned into FlightAware and LiveATC to follow the flight up. Just as Capt Clint and Greg literally started the initial descent outta FL290 into Chicago I ran outside to catch you guys flying just to the west of our home with the sun beautifully reflecting off that really shiny Super 80! My wife could not believe how excited I was to see you guys flying over! As a Huge AvGeek to the extreme, I will be paying tribute myself to both the AA Super 80 and the AA Boeing 727-200 by converting the front half of a real MD-83 and 727-200 I purchased into fully functioning flight simulators with fully operational first class cabin and partial coach sections with complete AA interiors and equipment I have been collecting over the years. Need to work on finding a few more AA Super 80 first class and double coach seat sets! It will take a lot of hard work and unbelievable amounts of rewiring but I will get them virtually flying the skies once again in tribute to my favorite airline and the last of the classic airliners that flew with AA! Long Live the Super 80 :)) What a Send Off it was! My wife still thinks I am nuts but man what fun it is and how cool is it to have an AA Super 80 and 727 in your backyard in a building that will be a virtual ORD to boot! Thanks again for sharing!!
Skylite Productions made EXP on the Maddog butt in seat lga-dfw-aus for several years. She’ll be missed!
I know where this plane is, I work on it. It’s still 100% intact. American still owns it. It’s in long term storage in Roswell NM
When I see comments like this I literally PRAY that airlines will somehow make a breakthrough and be able to return a few retro/older aircraft such as the MD80/DC10/MD11 into service.. passengers like me would literally pay whatever kinda money to fly on one again, but that’s just the little kid in me😁
@Jonathan Venus yet the plane is unique and some museums really want to buy it
I remember my first American MD flight was from Kansas city to baton Rouge back in 2005 my last md flight was from Dallas to New Orleans 2016
@@DannoAviation Won't happen by a chance, current fuel and noise emissions standards won't allow for that at all.
@@joeyGalileoHottoTrue. I heard hush kits for JT8D engines were super duper expensive!
28:51 applause on departure
This is such a wonderful tribute. It's so strange to attribute feelings to inanimate objects, but I get so sad to think of them just sitting in the desert, never to fly again. I imagine them feeling sad and abandoned, like a dog someone leaves at the shelter.
I’m glad you enjoyed it my friend! Thanks for watching!
Nah dont worry just a piece of metal
@@ruehl3853 Some of them might fly again, american has some TWA ones from 1999. Some airlines overseas may want them

Such a painful goodbye, I'm the guy standing behind the tow truck being a nerd recording as it's pushing. So long Super 80, you will not be forgotten
You weren't the only one my friend. There were many, many people geeking out for this flight, including the 140 passengers on plane. Me included! Thanks for watching!

That spool up with the applause had me in tears.🥺
There were a lot of those moments. Thanks for watching!
I remember pushing the MD-80s around in Grand Rapids MI when I worked for American Airlines in the early 90's. Most fun job I ever had. So many times I flew to ORD on MD-80. Great planes!
So many memories, in so many different ways. I never worked them, but I have my own in flight memories! Thanks for watching my friend!
I literally almost cried when she started to gallop. Such a robust and tenacious plane. It will be missed. They don’t make em like they used to. I shall now go fly her on my simulated for good times sake lol.
The end of an era! Thanks for watching my friend!
Cecil L just like cars. They make em worse now with the fancy Europeans. We love the pure aviation of the old eagles. God bless the engineers that gave us the chance to fly this beauty across America and beyond.
Loved the shadow trailing on the ground just after takeoff.
It was a picture perfect flight!
Loved flying with the 80 , 90 , The tube as it was called . I never ever had a bad flight with Delta , TWA , American , fun aircraft
Fun times indeed. They will be sorely missed. Thanks for watching my friend!
As I was watching the flight and staring at the wing it reminded me of how wonderful, beautiful, and pure the foil remains. And with this configuration, no engine hanging beneath it, it's so majestic and clean and everlasting... Well, not for this specific bird... The day has come to clip it's wings and store it with all the other birds that have run their course... may God bless all the airplanes and future planes that will continue to carry man around the globe, smoother, safer, longer, faster, higher, and well you fill in the rest... Safe landing's all!
Well said my friend!
McDonnell Douglas made the best aircraft around... lasted forever and went beyond. I want to be there when Delta inevitability gets rid of this bird. I need to see one MD-80 for the last time. This was American engineering at it’s finest back in the day. What a reliable, well crafted, and durable aircraft.
I worked at the McDonnell-Douglas plant in Long Beach in the 80"s-90s. I was present when this last MD-83 rolled off the production line in December 1999 (N984TW). It had a ceremony being the last MD-80 airplane built in Long Beach. The airplane was delivered to TWA originally butTWA became defunct. The plane was transferred over to American Airlines. This was a special airplane.
It was only fitting that the last MD-80 to be built flew the last American passenger flight. Thanks for watching!
This bird better go straight to a museum being the last ever MD-80 built 😥
Man, I am sure going to miss them. Every day around 5:30-5:45pm an American MD-80 would takeoff and fly over my house and I would run outside to see it. That is what got me interested in airplanes and I miss it everyday, now I hear the 737 but it will never replace the iconic MD-80.
The end of an era for sure my friend. Thanks for watching!
Skylite Productions You're welcome! Thank you for getting this video!
I'm not crying, you're crying. Ok fine, I'm tearing up a bit. You guys certainly did have an awesome party in the air and at both airports. I'm certainly going to miss the American Airlines Old Livery and their MD-80s as I have seen them many times in San Diego and LAX.
Well, at least we can still catch N921NN with the old livery. Although, with it being the lone aircraft wearing it, the chances of seeing it aren't great! Thanks for watching my friend! It's greatly appreciated!
Not your crying, you're crying.! Spelling!
@@dirkbenson8153 Just noticed that right now actually. Didn't notice it earlier. But thanks for the reminder
1:27:15 "Two captains for the price of one." Outstanding job, gentlemen.

Thank you so much for this tribute..and thanks also for not ruining it with a continuous talk-over..All good things and airplanes must come to an end... Thank you again.. .. Albion..
I’m glad you enjoyed it my friend. Thanks for watching!
I worked Final Assembly on the MD-80 Line at McDonnell Douglas Long Beach Ca from May 1989 to May 1993. A great company to work for and an awesome aircraft to build. This brought back some great memories and a tear to my eye.
Sounds like some great memories. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching!

Just glad to see there are people that love planes just as much, or even more, than I do.
I believe they could have flown this flight 100 times over and filled it every time with 140 new people who loved this plane, and planes in general, as much as us. Thanks for watching my friend!
Is there an Oscar or a Pulitzer award for KZheadrs, Skylite Productions? Because you just got it for the categories of Picture, Post-production and Story. Your video trully made me feel like I was there too. I remember boarding an MD-80 in MEX in 1996... Flying in 26A in 1993 (IAD-DFW)… flying miserably with a cold in 20A in 1997 (DFW-MEX)… and my last MD-80 flight ever, with AA, in 2007 (DFW-DCA) approaching from the south over the Potomac... I could go on... Long live the Super 80!!!
I appreciate that my friend! That was my intent. That anyone who couldn't get a seat could also experience it. Thanks for watching!
An American Airlines MD-80 was my ride to Army Basic Training in 1989.
And here we are 30 years later. They had a good run! Thanks for watching my friend!
Mine was also an MD 80 but with Delta. 757 from Seattle to Minneapolis, then MD80 from Minneapolis to St Louis. Then the bus to leonard wood lol.
Same! MD-80 ATL-OKC then bus to Ft. Sill
Thomas A mine was Cleveland to Dallas to Fort Sill.

Retired? Hmmm. I guess Delta will be buying all of these . They seem to love these old airplanes.
It was amazing to see all the Ramp Workers stopping and pulling out their cell phones to get one last picture of the MD-83!
“Pull for a good time” on the window exit😂 Gotta love the spirit of everyone on board. Was able to catch flight 80 leave Dallas, run to the United terminal, then non-rev back home to Chicago to see it one more time to leave for Roswell. Most fun I’ve had traveling in a while! Rest In Peace Mad Dog. Delta may still be flying them.... but eh who cares☺️
Haha. The American livery on the MD-80 was so iconic that it's hard to compare it to Delta. Now...... If delta were to repaint their last fight into their iconic widget livery..... Just saying. Sounds like you had a crazy travel day just like us! Thanks for watching my friend!
Thank you for making this great video. I watched with sadness and pride as I thought about my dads career. He flew for AA from 1966 until he retired in 1998. He earned his captain stripes on this aircraft and loved flying this airplane.
Thank you for watching! I bet your dad has some very cool stories to tell if we worked for AA back in the 60's!
I got a kick out of watching McDonnell Douglas build these airplanes outside in the beautiful Long Beach weather.
Sounds like great memories! Thanks for watching my friend!
I, along with many of my colleagues and friends flew these wonderful jets for the production side of McDonnell Douglas Long Beach thru the 1980’s. The 80 was truly a pilots aircraft, easy to fly, reliable and uncomplicated. Sad to see it go to the aircraft boneyard.
" flight attendants please prepare for take-off" such a somber moment. "last aircraft to come off the assembly line" wow....... Wish I was on that flight. Flew on a Delta MD80 from Atlanta to Toronto just a month ago. One of the safest planes in the skies on record. Which plane can replicate this milestone. Wonderful video.....
Thanks my friend! There's an easy answer to your question. There isn't an aircraft that easily replicate what the MD-80 gave us. Simple as that. Thanks for watching!
American Airlines did a Great Job and a Respectfull Retierement Party on this ever last Flight of a Mad Dog. The Giveaways for the Passengers are very Cool. Thank You AA for this Special Flight after 36 Years in Safe Service. Not every Airline do this with Old Airplanes at there Retierement. Great Job. I will miss the Mad Dogs.
They did indeed. This is how you send an aircraft out! Other airlines take note! Thanks for watching my friend!
And, to add something else - this was the last ex-TWA aircraft that AA had. Closing 2 books there.
I was at O'Hare and got the chance to film flight 80 land😎👍 BTW very nice video much appreciated!
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend! Thanks for watching!
@@sla31 Absolutely👍
Not all heroes wear capes. Some simply walk to the back of the last ever American Md-80 revenue flight, place a go pro in the window......and keeps it running for the entire flight! Thank you for allowing us to also experience this very special (and for me sad) flight!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad I could capture all of this for everyone else to experience.
I flew AA last time was May, 1997 one in B-757 from Seattle to Dallas then changed to MD-83 to Huntsville. We stay there about 4 days for the bowling tournament. On Tuesday we flew MD-83 from Huntsville to Dallas and changed the same plane as MD-83 from Dallas to Seattle and I will missed the MD-80's. MD-83 was so beautiful!!!!
Thank's you for this beautiful video. 👍 👍 👍 I am a private pilot and often had tears in my eyes when watching these beautiful pictures. It was a beautiful weather for this very last flight. Even a plane has a soul, even if many people do not feel it. I also sat in this plane, if only virally. FAREWELL MD-83 - N984TW Best regards from Berlin HaJo (G-Translater) ;-)
I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I was able to take you along for the fight. Thanks for watching my friend!
This is so sad. It breaks my heart every time a classic aircraft is retired. I nearly cried when they flew the 737-200 and the BAC 1-11 for the last time. Will never hear those loud engines roar on take off again. Then the Concord was retired for no real reason. Now the Mad Dog. Watching this video, I felt like I was actually there and sharing the experience so thank you so much for letting us be part of it. Wish I could buy it and keep it flying. Thanks again for the awesome video. Enjoy retirement Mad Dog. Everyone will always love and miss you so much. :'(
It’s the end of an era my friend. Thanks for watching! I’m glad you felt like you were able to fly along. That was the intent!
I appreciate your time making this video Skylite. It made my day when I saw this video on my notification list. Thank u. Your the best.
I'm glad my friend. Thanks for watching!
Nice video! I took my first (and only) MD-80 flight September of 2012 on this exact plane from Dallas to Kansas City!
Thanks my friend! Once was probably enough to fall in love with the MD-80!
😢😢😢 I had the pleasure to fly on N9616G last Sunday from Houston to Dallas. Very bittersweet moment to fly on the MD83 for the last time. I’ve always been a DC9 fan. That plane type will be truly missed by me for sure. At least I still can fly the MD88, MD90 and B717 with Delta.
You and me both my friend! Thanks for watching!
I worked at TPA from 1986-2001 for Sky Chefs and Gate Gourmet and I catered this aircraft when it was TWA and American Airlines. This is a sad day for me. So long Super 80 , you will be missed.
Those are great memories to have my friend! Thanks for watching!
Listen to those engines hum!! Awesome farewell video. Thank you for capturing this piece of history!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
My first DC 9- Super 80 flight was on PSA in 1986? My parents made friends with a pilot from PSA and I got to fly on an md80 flight simulator once at about 14 years old. I landed in San Diego after doing some fun stuff, like trying a stall recovery. Unforgettable. Through the years I sometimes got tired of flying “ANOTHER MD-80”, but loved the seating configuration and sitting on the left in my bachelor days. Farewell old friend!
So many people have such fond memories of the DC-9 / MD-80 series. Across many generations as well. That's an awesome story. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching!
Farewell MD 80...I never got a chance to fly n one of U but I have to say thank U for being an easy aircraft to clean and prepare for ur next day flight...U r missed💙💛💜💚❤
All good things come to an end. Sadly it was time for the MD’s to go. Thanks again for watching!
My first EVER flight travel was on 2003, on that time I was 5 years old, And I'm grateful it was with this airline and in one of the MD-80 aircraft.
I grew up traveling by air often due to my father working overseas when I was little. Lots of hours logged in various planes - plenty of Qantas 747s, plenty of Singapore Airbuses, plenty of Garuda 737s, plenty of Northwest DC10s and Mesaba Saab 340s. I can’t say that the MD80 was the first plane I ever rode. But when I joined the working world, I had to fly often for training, meetings, etc, and that is when I had my first taste of the MD80. Got to sit in the rear just a row ahead of the engines, and that is where I fell head over heels in love with the MD80. I don’t know exactly what it was that really got me hooked - the buzzsaw sound from those JT8D’s, or the 400 hz hum on the PA, or the shiny aluminum finish on the plane, or just the classic look, but from that point on, if I could work an MD80 ride into any trip, I would. I would always try to select a seat back near the engines to hear their sweet buzzsaw sound - that was just music to me. I’d book Delta’s MD88s and 90s when I couldn’t book an MD80, but the MD80 was always preferable. Even the seats in those MD80s just seemed to accommodate my fat ass better than the seats in most other planes. I think it was in 2017 or so when the MD80s were originally supposed to be retired, so I made sure to take my bride for a ride in one just to give her that experience. Round trip from ORD to DFW and back, no overnight, no nothing, just pure MD80 time. Of course I was happy to find out that they would be around for another couple years after that, but I moved for my work, and unfortunately that was my last time in an MD80. I believe that it is important to understand and witness change as it is happening. Whether it be agriculture transitioning from horse drawn implements to steamers to gas tractors to diesels and the horsepower race to computer controlled equipment with precision GPS, or whether it is the face of railroading changing and adding technology, or mining and minerals processing progressing, or just something as simple as aircraft being replaced by newer, more advanced, and more efficient aircraft. Because of that, I made sure to take her on a 787 ride from ORD to LAX. Regardless, the MD80 will always hold a special soft spot in my heart. Sorry to see an old friend be retired, but the memories will be there, the videos I shot out the window of the planes will be there, and hopefully AA will donate a mad dog or a few to places that can put them on display or use them for educational purposes. Thank you for posting your video.

@@sla31 I'd love to, but it's going to be difficult as I live in Europe.
Ah, that would make it difficult. They aren't necessarily flying all over European skies are they?

No problem my friend. I really enjoy the MD-90. Delta is actually going to retire the 90's before the 80's. They cited "parts availability" I believe. Catch one while you can!

More McDonnell Douglas Airplanes have crashed then can be counted, one more shit box out of the sky. That’s the best thing about this video, knowing the skies just got a bit safer.
@@jaywilliams1291 That's false. Most crashes were pilot error and happened during the age of aviation where crashes were common for all aircraft. There has not been a McDonnell Douglas crash for years and this plane is very safe. The crash rate is very low. Get educated please. Your ignorance is really showing.
Great to see you caught the last flight! I’ll miss seeing them... Loved the job you did with this special event, though!

I teared up when I saw this. It's going to be hard not seeing the MD-80 in the air. Thanks for sharing this with us.
And thank you for watching my friend!
Thankfully, Delta still has the MD-88’s flying for another year and the MD-90’s aren’t supposed to be retired until the early 2020’s. The 717’s will be around for probably another decade or so too.
Zach Lang ya the MD-88’s are pushing 30. I hope to get on one before they retire as well!
My wife and I worked at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 61 years between us. I am so proud to have the best job of my life. Even thru the ups & downs it was great. The people, the customers and suppliers made this happen. American Airlines the airlines who made the MD80 become a successful aircraft. Yes Delta still has MD88, MD90 and B717 (which is really a MD95) and the aircraft still serves a purpose to make Delta what it is today. One day the last MDC airplane will fly someplace somewhere and retire as do all aircraft. Until then long live the MD series aircraft. Enjoy while you can.
Sounds like great memories my friend. Thanks for watching!
In 2016 I flew on one of American's MD80s for the first (and last) time from IND to DFW, unfortunately on the way there and back I was right at the very back seat next to the engine lol, so I could barely see anything but it was still neat to be on, and glad I could at least fly on it once in my life lol. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for the video! I was on AA 739 from PHX to ORD on the 4th got into ORD at 13:28 and proceeded to taxi for 30 minutes which included us getting turned away from our gate the first time being told the gate was "busy" and having to taxi around the taxiways again and finally get into our gate K-5 at 13:58. After I got off the plane and seeing all the balloons about the Super 80 retirement and a lot more AA employees than I was used to now I know why. Thanks again for the video and I will miss the MD-80 family of planes very distinctive and not hard to miss and identify.
Thanks for watching my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed the video of what caused you to be late haha.
I always loved flying in the Super 80. I liked how it looked. Long and low to the ground. Gonna be missed.
She was a sleek looking aircraft for sure! Thanks for watching!
@@sla31 Thanks for sharing. I've been an aviation geek since I was 7. My dad worked for American in the late 80's when Mr. Crandle was in charge. It truly was "Something special in the air" back then.
When I was a High School student and a Cadet in the C.A.P., my squadron got to tour the Mcdonald Douglas plant in long beach and we saw the MD80's being built. I have flown many times on the MD80 and been through DFW many times also. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for posting it on YT. :-)
And thank you for watching! Sounds like you have some great MD-80 memories! Which is kind of what this comment section has turned into.
I have fond memories of the flights my wife and I took on Super80s over the years. Always loved that two-seat side. In the words of the old George Benson song, "Everything Must Change."
That's very true! All good things must come to an end! Thanks for watching.
And Good Job!!! You reached 7.8K Subscribers!! Let's celebrate!
Thanks my friend!
Loved flying the “dog”. Will always be my favorite.
Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks for documenting this piece of history. A fitting tribute. :)
It was my pleasure my friend. Thanks for watching!
Thsnk you so much for sharing. Thank you M80 for your swrvice after sooooo many years. You will be missed always. Regards to all in ORD from Herbert Carrillo FSC American Airlines Miami HUB
Oh my God nice the flight American Airlines
And thank you for watching my friend!
the tears started as she began her take-off roll, so hard saying good bye to this beautiful bird.. I hope she'll be preserved after retirement, Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington has an interactive MD-80 exhibit. please tell me she's not gonna be left to rot and be torn apart
At the time of this flight I don't believe there were any plans for this airframe to go to a museum, but that can always change! Thanks for watching my friend!
I think was very touching that people wrote inside of the aircraft a farewell to the plane MD 80 so long to you ✈️🌈
It was a great way for her to go. Thanks for watching my friend!
Great video although a sad day. The MD80 was a super aircraft. Will be missed but never forgotten.
Thanks my friend! Well said!
I was visiting family in Chicago in 2012 and flew the mad dog down to Arizona. Such a smooth aircraft helped by the 2 free buds given me on the flight lol thanks for posting and greetings from the UK 😊
And thank you for watching my fiend!
Nice they had two senior captains piloting the Maddog for the last revenue flight!!
Yes. There was A LOT of experience in the cockpit.
I love the atmosophere at 42:13 everyone chatting away with similar interests and not a normal boring quiet flight. Reminds me when A group of us took almost the entire back end of an a/c from UK to India. It was a party bus.
Enjoyed many flights on the mad dog in the 90's. Always loved when they would power back from the gate. That was the best.
It's to bad they don't power back these days. Thanks for watching!
So bittersweet to see this aircraft retire. I was always fond of the DC-9 family of airliners. Thanks for making this video.
And thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
You are going miss those positive control cable actuated flight controls....
The end of the mechanical breeds. Thanks for watching!
Ummm....737 still has cable actuated controls....
It would have been an honor to be on that flight. Thanks for all the great footage.
Thank you for watching! And it was truly an honor to be able to take this flight. It's something I will never forget.
Wonderful video bud! I live in Amarillo and we got the fourth to last mad dog. These planes were so fun to fly on and just made flying good! Blue skies and smooth air! Rest In Peace mad dog
Thanks my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
As I have flown several times on the MD-80 I fell in love with this airplane so needless to say I did get a little teary eyed watching this..
It was the end of an era my friend. Thanks for watching!
It truly was an end of an era...thank you for doing what you do and keeping an aviation lover like me entertained...keep up the great work
undoublty a very emotional video and a fun one, hearing people talk every minute during flight and all claaping, cheering and having fun. Thankyou for bringing such positivity to the internet, thanks MADDOG MD80 for LIFE!!!
A liner airplane with a fighter soul inside ...:D
Thanks for watching my friend!
I flew the American MD's from OMA to DFW several times and once on a MSP - DTW (or GRR, it was ages ago). When my son really decided to become a pilot a couple years ago, we would try to get some pics and videos of these planes departing or arriving if we happened to be somewhere with an airport they serviced. Toward the end of their life cycle, we were able to get some of the AA versions at OMA, DSM and ORD plus the Delta versions at GRR, OMA and STL. Good old bird along with the DC9 which I flew several times from SUX to MSP back in the late 90's.
Wow! I am getting teary eyed for you guys,I am feeling your pain that this was the last time for this MD-80.I had a car that I had to put to rest and I had this car for a long time and I didn`t want to put it to rest .I had so much memories in the car and that would be the same thing you guys were feeling.
Thanks for watching my friend. It’s sad, but all good things must come to an end.
Damn dude. Never thought I’d actually shed real tears over an aircraft video, even being a student pilot and having a distinct passion for flying. The MD-80 series (including the Boeing 717) are my favorite commercial aircraft.
It was a bittersweet day for sure. Thanks for watching my friend!
Sad day, I grew to love the MD-80s and the experiences I've had on them over the years from strong crosswind landings on the USS LaGuradia to spring storms north of DFW and how well this aircraft performed under all conditions. I also took comfort knowing how much the pilots enjoyed flying them. So long AA MD-80, and thanks for sharing a great video!
Well said my friend. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Flew an MD-83 from Dulles to Memphis years ago. Great aircraft! Bring them back, American!
Super video, the plane Douglas pleased, thanks for the video :)
No problem my friend. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for making a great video of the entire flight. Great to see the MD-80 given the respect it deserves on it's last revenue flight.
Thank you for watching my friend!
Brilliant video. My first ever flight was on an MD-83 (Manchester, England to Lanzarote). So quiet & effortless on take off ! Both captains' admiration for the aircraft clearly comes across in their words to the cabin. I never fully understood the 3 x 2 seating effect on the aircraft's balance ? Anyway, thanks for the film - a lovely goodbye to a great plane.
Thanks my friend. I’m glad you enjoyed it. A fine aircraft she was for sure!
Quiet at the front maybe, haha.
Nice, the inside flap slot still has the black ice stripe on it from an old TWA livery!
Very very nice video!
