  • The first time you use 7.1 and hear the footsteps behind you in Tarkov and turn around and shoot your enemy, you will realize how awesome the GSX 1000 actually is. 7.1 is not a gimmick IMHO, it is a game changer and that would be the real reason to use this over another AMP/DAC in its place.

  • To me, one of the big selling points is the option to toggle between outputs. I regularly switch between my headphones and active speakers, and being able to do that with a click of a button instead of messing about in my Windows taskbar is a big convenience improvement. I have tried to find other DAC's that provide this option, but doesn't seem like a common feature. So I have one of these coming and will be using it with my Drop PC38X and Ruark MR1 MK2 active speakers.

    • @@andrewf.1706 Hey! It's working wonderfully. The unit is sleek and smooth to use and the built in sound profiles are excellent. I only use the Music on occasion, depending on what I am listening to. If I were to point at any downsides, it would be that it's not quite as subtle a unit on your desk compared to other DACs. Also the glossy finish on the touch areas will collect finger prints and the corner touch buttons can sometimes be activated by accident. But other than that, it is a great little unit and I am very pleased with it.

  • Yo Techne, usually agree with you... but honestly I love tweaking and options, not like you have to use them! Audio software can also be super beneficial. Steelseries Sonar is honestly great, it works with any 3.5mm headphones and standalone condenser mics too. Totally kills background noise on my Røde mini and great EQ. They should release their gameDAC gen2 separately, probably a lot more value for money than the Epos.

  • I have the first version of the GSX 1000 from Sennheiser paired up with the Epos h6 pro open back, i run it on 7.1 with the E sport mode on and everything else off. To me its night and day! Without the GSX 1000 my headsets sound too quiet. I really like the Esport mode because it takes away most of the punchy bass so you can hear footsteps and everything else clearly and the 7.1 mode makes it sound way more immersive and open.

Everything I’m reading says you need to be connected to the software but with the game deck you can connect dwyer both to the Xbox and your PC so can you use that feature on Xbox or literally only on PC? Again, sorry for posting here it’s just your most recent video.

Because new its 50-70€ more than that and for 200€ it gets stacked up against the iFi ZEN DAC V2 which will pretty much wipe the floor with it. Its in a weird spot where its feature packed, but for a small audience that actually needs those.

  • I have the first one that was released under the Sennheiser brand. My biggest two issues with it were not allowing surround sound playback on anything past 48000 Hz DVD quality audio and the line out not being a line out at all, instead being just the headphone jack duplicated since it goes through the amp rather than outputting a flat line level audio, like a true line out should do. If these issues weren't fixed this device isn't worth your time because the only upgrade that was done was going from Micro-USB to USB-C. They also could of added a digital audio out but nope. If you really want this thing just buy the original GSX 1000 used or just buy the plenty of other dac/amps made by actually decent audio companies that have surround sound features or just use the plentiful amount of simulated surround sound software.

  • I just picked this up from Amazon for $150. This is one of the few times where I think Techne gets it wrong. If this device holds up, it is one of the best desktop solutions for folks like me who want minimal clutter. I love having a hardware based device, the volume scroll wheel is perfectly in-step with my volume in Windows, setup is as easy as being able to plug in a USB-C cable, and the sound quality is excellent. I own the Schitt Hel 2e, the Hifiman EF400 and a JDS Atom Stack. For the time being, this will be my go-to because it only needs one cable - no need for a separate power supply. The power output is enough to power all my headphones including the Audio Technica ATH-R70X which can be a bit of a pain to drive. The only thing that annoys me about this device is why Sennheiser opted to put the headphone inputs on the back/top of the device as opposed to the bottom. I don't know what in the hell they were thinking when they did that. It makes my headphones bend awkwardly. But, I'll get over it.

  • I’ve owned the GSX 1200 Pro for 6 years now and it’s biggest claim to fame is its 7.1 surround sound which is a game changer for FPS and some open world games for directional audio and immersion (it’s kind of like a really really good Dolby Atmos effect) but other than that and outside of the cool chat features, other cheaper options will probably suffice.

Edit: I own the previous version and my wheel dont have a rubbing feeling as well as a delay in switch between speaker and headphone. It seems to be a downgrade overall in terms of performance except for mic. 7.1 = crossfeed with additional features 7.1 + front is my favorite for watching movies. 2.0 = normal sterio with eq preset.

Competitive edge its a gimmick not beyond a shadow of a doubt, immersion..... people spent thousands of hours and millions of dollars to this, it's called audio simulation btw made just for your enjoyment edit: Realized something, did you even try it in a game? the only time i see you using it is when you're playing around the hardware, how did EPOS just sent you one like this *facepalm*

  • A little more than two years ago I bought the OG one which was pre "EPOS" no "EPOS" branding on it at all. It was probably the biggest waste of money I have spent and I buy some dumb stuff. I saw another video talking about how good it is and the difference it makes. It never really made a difference in audio for me. The only somewhat useful aspect was switching between the computer speakers and my headset. However i could have just bought an audio switcher for that or used macro keys for that. One day recently i kicked the power cord by accident it bent the power chord input so badly it will not power on anymore. I then opened it up to see the micro usb input was torn off the board and bent the aux input of my Tyger 300R which has a built in non detachable cable. Please learn from me dont buy this and get headphones with detachable cables! Your wallet will thank you. Like mentioned in the video there are better options to serve this purpose.
