**AD** - Knipex Super Knips XL 78 61 140 hub.efixx.co.uk/knipex-super-knips
My favourite tool. Anyone who doesn’t cut cable ties flush can have a free kick in the shins from me.
I don't cut mine at all I just leave the tail on ,saves time
Been a spark for over 40 years and can cut cable ties flush with side cutters ...easy if you know how and I'm sure I'm not the only one
@@harrymiller3445 You aren't! A pair of side side cutters and some practice is all you need! I wish more people tried as it would mean less scratches.... 🙄
Man up
I love these, people think I’m nuts for having a set for cable ties.
That's because nuts people don't even trim their cable ties.
I’m an Alarm Engineer who installs IP CCTV, Access Control and smaller Computer Networks. I’ve used the Knipex range (which is absolutely huge) of Mini Knips and Electronic Flush Cutters for over 30 years. Must’ve gone through thousands of pairs of mini cutters and I always default back to Knipex. Some models have lead catchers to reduce mess. Work very well. I can highly recommend. 👌👍✌️🇬🇧
Same. I'm also a security installer as well as electrician. I had the smaller version for about 15 years which I still have. I recently purchased the XL version. Amazing tool
This is why I love this channel I always learn something new
I don't have the XL (have the standard, the vde and the high angle superknips) Probably amongst my most used tools. There's a special place in hell for people who leave razor edges on cable ties; if you cant cut them flush just don't bother cutting them.
I use these for my works. Not great for cutting 1.5 or greater will get dull or damaged over time. Great for alarm cables. Really great for cutting flush cable ties.
I was trained years ago in electronics and have always used side cutters like those. One company I worked for used to do photocopier work - very fine tungsten wire is used on them. You had to make sure that no-one borrowed your tools as the tungsten wire was tougher than the cutters. Also taught in soldering to tin wire from cut end to back to insulation and then take iron back on its own to the cut end to remove excess solder that you cut off the end of the wire to required length.
What did you use to cut the tungsten wire then, if I may ask?
@razmanhanafiah4839 Cant remember now it was about 40 years ago
Ive had loads of the 125mm knipex cutters for years.. never knew they done the 140's.. shame on me for not checking the knipex site .. cheers guys just ordered 2 sets :)
As an electrician over 26 years I switched to many knipex tools. But have never bought knipex flush cut kippers. I’d be interested to see duration testing, instead of the standard promotion of new sharp product. Obviously, you could speed the time by referencing every hundred or cuts, or so and see how the tool reacts versus when it’s brand hammer new off the assembly line. My 2 cents.
Good cutters , the cable tie gun well that’s sunk 😭 . Those knipex cutters I had a pair of them back in the 80s not knipex but a the same design Cost about Tener from RS components great tool for telephone cables and the like 👍 Great video guy’s as always 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️
I’m using for a couple of years 78 13 125, which is “the better version”, I believe. Absolute a must when it comes to electricians tool box. One thing I don’t know, if they are ok to cut the stainless steel cable ties. In my case I do have a different tool for that.
The reason why I got the Super Knips XL is for cutting excess wire while terminating network keystone modules. Small increase in cutting edge length makes it possible to trim the wires with a single cut.
Great application!
I'd go for the stainless steel version 78 03 140. But that's just me. The Super Knips are the best flush cutter for cable ties ever.
I brought a pair of them not knipex from Amazon £3.97 +vat They are fantastic had them about 4 months not had any problems with them over all they are good quality and do what I need them to do. All sparks Should have a pair in there toolbox/ bag you will have uses for them.
What's the different between super-knips and the flush cutter series for plastics (those look even thicker at the jaws) like 7202125?
The Death Penalty should be brought back for people who don't use flush cutting snips on cable ties.
As a control panel electrician i use boot lace ferrules all day every day just bought a set on the back of your pitch seem a good tool for a cheap price.
Let us know how you find them 👍
Could you include prices in the video please I liked the voltage tester Megger 1000 I think that looked good
It’s all about working with electronic type systems. Door entry systems. LAN type connections and cctv. Security. Some control. Where you have small Csa Mulricore. Need close sharp cuts.
I like to call these Flush Cutters
Yes they are the flush version thanks for the reminder
I'm just about to buy the Electro Static Discharge (ESD) version of these - KNIPEX Electronic Super Knips XL ESD (140 mm) 78 61 140 ESD - which are great for electronics.
Nice tool make job easy
👍🏻
Those ferrules, do they have amp ratings?
Great tool Question do they make some with insulation type handle to protect against shocks? Since they are going to be used for electrical purposes.
They're intended for low voltage electronics use it's up to your risk assessment/common sense what else you use them for.
interesting do like my Lindström cutters and pliers though
I have a set of Lindstrom top cutters - they are the Rolls Royce of cutters (including price).- Cheers Gordon
Worth it if you do lots of cable tying
I have the ESD version, use it everyday :-)
A true electronics user👍
Love my set
They are in my Santa 🎅 list
Give me Lindström Ultra-Flush any time. on my job would last 2 years. The company decided to save money and replace them with Draper which lasted 1 month.
My tool tote is going to need wheels motor and battery pack 😵💫with all these new tools 😁
Go on treat yourself 💇♀️
What the difference between theys and the Knipex part number 78 06 125 ? Both look the same obvious colour
Its the length. 125 part of code means 125mm long. 140 means 140mm long
@@sergiofernandez3725 but they have a 78 03 125 red and blue ones sliver tip then 78 06 125 red and yellow "vde" 78 81 125 blue and red black tip which are all 125mm
The VDE version cuts a lower diameter of steel wire compared to this version.
@@efixx ahhh I see looks like theys win be getting theys ones after crimbo cheers for explaining lads 👌 Is there a live stream tonight ?
We've rescheduled to next Wednesday so we can have a great show before breaking for Christmas.
As good as any electronic type cutters I’ve used over the last 40 years. Better used the other way round for wire stripping, a bit easier.
Thanks for the top tip
Hi guys great video. Looking on the site which offers free next day delivery for a subscription, What's the difference between KNIPEX Electronic Super Knips XL (140 mm) 78 61 140 & KNIPEX Electronic Super Knips XL (140 mm) 78 03 140, except one has a sliver set of jaws and the other black?
The Mutts nuts of electronic cutters are Lindstrom but you get very sad if someone "borrows" them or you lose them. The Knipex are a good middle ground between Lindstrom and the really cheap and nasty cutters out there. I have three sets.
Used Linstrom for years in the electronics industry 👍
These are top notch, way better than the Won Hun Glo™ brands from the wholesaler that last 5mins
I use this just for cutting cable ties flush lol
Perfect for doing your toe nails 😁🐔
I've done that before 😂
Agree 😂
It always annoys me when I see someone holding the cutters backwards when they are stripping wire. You should always have the non-bevelled edge facing the bit you are trying to remove. The way these guys did it squeezed the insultation rather than pushing it off cleanly.
The flush side cutters are miles better for doing your toe nails.
SIDE CUTTERS AREN'T FLUSH CUTTERS. Say it with me: Flush cutters are not side cutters. Side cutters are non-flush cutting blades as found in Diagonal cutting pliers and Lineman's pliers. These super knips are flush cutters. *Not* side cutters !
