I saw Tombstone in a small cinema back in the spring of 1994. It was very slow coming out and I remember reading how production had been delayed. I had no real idea what to expect, and made the pilgrimage with two friends who, unusually for the time, both liked westerns (we were massive Clint Eastwood fans). It was a gamble, we actually missed out on an episode of Brisco County Jnr. to see this film. From the start I was blown away by it - it was scary. The Cowboys were scary. There was menace in the air, but there was something else - unlike other westerns where you sometimes felt you were watching a museum, this was vibrant and completely full of life. These people cared about fashion and style, they cared about having a good time, they had romantic streaks and humour and were alive and kicking, there relationships were complex and one man's bad guy was another's friend, and not knowing the history I had no idea what might happen next, the structure was unlike any Western I'd ever seen and there was this whole sense of the unpredictable and "what's going to happen next?", and a sense of these little towns against an immense and tough and lively landscape. There was nothing like it before, and there has never been anything like it since. Many modern Westerns are cartoons and don't have the weighty sense of gravitas, yet sense of fun and adventure, and glamour in the dust that Tombstone has. I came out of the cinema feeling like I'd been through an experience, not that I'd been watching a mere movie. That's my two cents worth.
Glad to hear that movie gave you substance.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Thanks. Now you guys have to try and get another as good as it made. No pressure. 😇
@@sam2cents LOL!
One of my gave movies I love tombstone I hope to visit one day
Too bad Kurt Russel wasn't there. You could of had him steal your line!
What a great idea! Boy....I wonder if he woulda charged me for that?
I love this! That’s one of my favorite movies of all time and this looks like such a fun event! Thanks for sharing, Santee!
You're welcome. Wish you had been there, Dusty Britches!
Great movie and another great episode.
Yes, and much appreciated!
Tombstone will always be the best western ever! What a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's certainly up there.
Just watched this again. The attention to detail made earlier films pale in comparison. And thank you for what you all do to keep it real.
Much appreciated!
I love Tombstone. Been there twice, & will be going again.
It's an amazing town. Tourist trap or not...it feels like you're stepping back in time.
I was sleeping through this, Dad.
Just found your channel from the red dead redemption 2 video. Great content keep it up from a local Tucsonan.
Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. Didn't come up in my notifications.
I think I can sum-up the reason why Tombstone is so popular. IMHO it's the first big name western that focused on real people, rather than making a quick buck. (Sure they had to "Hollywood" certain aspects of it. But it didn't hurt the over-all historical aspect of it). Most movies that come out today they expect to make a certain amount back or they are disappointed. If vcrs and dvds didn't exist, Tombstone would still be making money today! Then there's the quality, across the board. First rate acting, wickedly accurate costumes (I can't recall seeing a single "drop leg"holster!) And it's just a feast for the eyes with all the scenery. Very few movies have all that. Some have one or two of those elements, but rarely does a movie combine them all and catch lightening in a bottle. I've seen the movie about a dozen times now over the years and everytime I watch it, I catch something I missed all the other times. It's just that good!
Great points! Thanks.
I always wondered why they wore heavy clothes long sleeves numerous layers full dresses in a hot environment like the old west? Best scene in the video. Do they make those for men? Lol We have a place called the Charcoal Corral in Castile NY it’s a restaurant and Drive in movie theater. They have iconic movie poster hung up all over and Toumbstone is one of them. I’m going to watch the movie again and pay more attention to the costumes. Another outstanding video Santee! Justin & Ralph
Why thanks very much! They did wear all that clothing. Victorian era was formal. They were hot in the summer.
Greetings from Ireland. 25 year's. Man, I'm getting old.
Yeah, but I thought we called it "seasoned"?
Like an old skillet.
Good reminders Santee- Thanks.
You're welcome, Bob!
Everybody loves Tombstone, and rightly so, but let me give some love to Costner's "Wyatt Earp." Long as all get out (pack lunch AND dinner,) but has Dennis Quaid as an AMAZING and underrated Doc Holliday, and the ending flashback scene (Earp confronts the lynch mob) is my favorite cinematic interpretation of Earp ever.
I also think Wyatt Earp did a better job with the shootout. More accuracy.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Kevin Costner never named any of his kids after Earp, though, so I question his commitment to the role.
Thank you for sharing that Interesting how 25 years has passed since the opening of Tombstone
Time flies...
I started to watch a movie about Wyatt Earp on Netflix some years ago....when the Camera showed the ceiling of the place it had modern connecting joints and joists I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
Once again, you have made a superb video… Informative, entertaining and erudite...Especially when you were talking to the wooden statue; boy that’s erudite! Thanks for including us amigo, it’s an honor to be in one of your works of art!
Thanks, Craig, and thank you both for classing up my video with yer good looks!
Arizona Ghostriders aw, good lookin’ yerself!
My Grandfather is from Yuma, AZ and Tombstone is one of is favorite westerns
Awesome
Loved that movie!! Looked like an awesome celebration! I have loved the old west since I was a kid, and the more of your videos I watch, the more I want to get involved!
Thanks.
The 3 thumbs down are all members of the Clanton gang. Love your videos!!
Gotta be! HA! Thank you very much.
Absolutely my favorite movie. Wyatt Earp spent a lot of time in central Illinois area where my wife is from.
Do they have a museum there? If so, love to do an episode on it.
Arizona Ghostriders We are not sure. Cathy is going to do some research and we'll get back with you. It's very interesting to us also.
Santee, They do have a small museum in Monmouth, Il., Wyatt Earp's birth place. Cathy sent me information about the museum do you have a Facebook account so I can send it to you.
25 YEARS.now i know i'm old.used to hang out with some of the fellers the worked behind the scenes.dang,i'm gettin' old.
Life. It has a way of sneaking those realization moments in.
yep.from the cradle to the crypt is a mighty short trip.so live each day to it's fullest.
I remember Old Tucson, even after it burned down taking the set for The High Chaperel with it. Made sure I got my pitcher took with the old injun on the wood bench. The good old days!
The High Chaparral set is still intact. The house is still being used in other films.
Ghostriders : Thanks for setting me straight. Was told by my brother that the entire thing burned to the ground. Glad to know better now.
This is one of everyone's favorite movies.
My wife and I were married at DM (2000) and honeymooned in Tombstone (I was a young SSgt). We had a blast at tje Crystal Palace and spent many a weekend in Tombstone. Would have lived to have been there for the parade.
One of the best movies ever!! I hope to be around when it makes 50 anniversary
Wow...hard to believe...25 years!!!....and still as entertaining as any movie made today.
Yes, I agree!
Thanks for that, wish I was there too, visited about 8 years ago, and want to return
Every single time I watch one of your videos it puts a smile on my face. Great content, very funny and I come a way learning alot. And I've lived in Tucson 40 plus years. Keep up the good work Santee. Love the videos
Thank you!
I am a proud subscriber of this channel, 'have been for about 6-8 months now. I have been inspired by this channel's focus on history so much, that I have made my own Wild West historic pamphlet series. I call it "West-I-Go", it's a newspaper-like pamphlet that talks about most details of the west that public school's leave out (they are given out for free I might add). the first issue is about Doc Holliday. everyone that I've given them to appreciates them, and I am most thankful for the Arizona Ghostriders' commitment to keeping the ol' west's history alive, and being a large inspiration for me and my little brother. I even learned how to gun spin from this channel! Thank you, -Nick DeMolay
Wow!! That is inceredible. So glad you are genuinly keeping it alive. Thank you so much. -Santee
My favorite movie!
It's a masterpiece.
That was awesome....I became a fan of westerns and especially everything wild West since I watched Tombstone when I was a senior in high school in New Jersey in 1994. It is by far my favorite movie. I have been to Tombstone four times over the last 10 yrs and have considered moving there several times. I was there last summer and missed Val Kilmer by a few days. This year I will be there from July 23 rd til August 3rd and I missed the 25th anniversary of the movie and many of the stars...bummer!! Anyhow, thank you for sharing this video, it was awesome!!
Thanks so much! Yes, it is an amazing western. Enjoy your visit to Tombstone!
MY STOMPING GROUNDS, AND WE ARE KEEPING AN EYE ON YOU SANTEE
Uh-oh!
One of my favorite movies, period! Thanks for sharing this with everyone!
Santee, I have been looking up your older ones and they are all interesting. You sure do a good job. Skip
Glad you like them! Some need buryin'!
Thank you for this.. Tombstone... Saw it in the theater and was in Heaven.... Some years ago at a gun show I bought a Tombstone script from Mr. Sherayko and he signed it for me.... Fun to have a part of the movie.... Kurt Russell is the shizzle. Huzzah!
Very cool about the script! Glad you enjoyed.
WOW. That makes me feel old. I used to work at Rawhide when it was in Scottsdale. My first wedding was at CGS film studios. I'm not sure if it's still there or not. It was I think south east of the Cardinals football stadium. I think the freeway went through it. That was a nice western set.
The film studio is gone, sadly. They tried to do something with it, and it didn't work out.
That is a fantastic movie! Cool you all got to celebrate together!
It is. I'm honored to have been a part of it.
Absolutely coolness!
Good!
And yet another great video by the Arizona Ghostriders. You captured the event perfectly! So entertaining! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great anniversary dear friend!
Thanks!
You make saturdays even better! This was so great to watch, i miss walking around tombstone. Im excited to see what you have for us next week
Thanks, Brendan!
Great background information; one of my favorite movies! We visited Tombstone last April, what a great time and we took in the Shootout at the OK Corral! 👍😎 ~Maverick
Thanks! I hope you enjoyed your trip to the "town too tough to die"
Gosh darned, yeah, I remember that scene with Eddie in it.
Very cool Santee! Tombstone is one of my all time favorites and the history is just awesome! Thanks for sharing another kick butt video!
Thanks for sharing! Its crazy to think its already been 25 years. BIG LIKE!
Hard to believe it has been 25 years.
Yeah!
Awesome likeee and another amazing video with interesting facts another massive likeee to our awesomeness friend and thanks for your awesome support we appreciate it we got ya always
Thank you!
Santee, I would love to hang out with you at an event at some point in the not to distant future. I just started 1880’s reenactment a couple of years ago. I’ve been following your videos and I’ve learned a lot from you. Thanks for the videos, keep em coming. Stan
That would be cool! Thank you!
I binged your channel in 3 days. I had to watch Tombstone again. They committed the carnal sin of movies. Nobody told the guns that they only hold 6 rounds. Yes...I'm a bullet counter. There, I said it. I can put up with many theatrical discrepancies, but a western revolver holds six rounds, and a double barrel shotgun only holds 2.
In Hollywood they hold more. A lot more. LOL! Seriously, they should hire you to make sure the shots are the right count. I recently saw a movie with a credit for "Ager/Dryer" which must be for someone who paints or dyes things to look older. So, there should be a credit for "Shot Counter"
Thanks for posting this Good Western video.Tombstone is a very good movie. Cheers !
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by.
I love the movie tombstone I probably have seen it 10 times or more. Have the poster have the book and the script and some autographs. I love the wild west. And you guys look like you have a lot of fun doing it
Thank you!
Thanks Santee
You're welcome, Brian

Great video Santee, That's why I'm named after Wyatt's brother, I always loved the movie, even though I've only been in the western genre 2 years dress, and everyday life-wise. Have a great rest of your week, and I'll se ya on down the trail. Sincerely, Morgan T.
Fantastic

Hello Arizona Ghost Riders. It's your friend Ted from Texas. I definitely enjoyed this episode and I wanted to let you know. Perhaps one day I will meet you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Busted up when I noticed the crazy train in the movie. Leaving town on #5150.
lol
Great video, Santee! I live 17 miles from Tombstone, and always enjoy spending a day there. Were you aware that the Oriental Saloon is a saloon again? After 45 years as a dress shop, it has been restored to a saloon, with a live show, too. Great place!
I've been meaning to get there and check it out!
Great Show! I had no idea it was the 25th Ann. of Tombstone. Always a fun show, this one will be hard to beat.
Thanks, Peppered!
Arizona is the best state ever, I love the movie tombstone I love everything about the west which is the reason why I subscribed to your channel! FYI you need more merch., still waiting on my shirt in my cup LOL but do you need more merch!
Thanks, what merch do you want to see?
One of my favorites, watch it probably every other week. Val one of the best Doc Holiday.👍🏼🤠🔫.
he is!
Great video
TOMBSTONE is a GREAT MOVIE. To see Chuck Heston and Dobe Carey in one of their last movies is a TREASURE. TRAIN WHISTLE IN TOMBSTONE? (OK, I'll give ya that one, it coulda been a mine whistle)
Good catch on the train whistle!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant episode Santee!!! I hope you are alright after you were knocked out!🤣😂😁😀
Awesome video you all!
Thank you Gerry!
_Tombstone_ showed us a glimpse into how the 1880's in the West probably actually looked, or at least much closer to it than just about any previous movie before it had done. The costumes and set designs and dressing are all so arresting that they make _Wyatt Earp_ --not a bad movie at all, actually--look like a stodgy, too-long 1970's TV Western episode by comparison. That the cinematography, editing and music are all so good help the solid story and script of _Tombstone_ propel the audience through an enjoyable, exciting movie experience. In fact, it's so good it can make previous classics like _Gunfight At The OK Corral_ and _My Darling Clementine_ look trite by comparison. Great movie. Historically accurate? Mmm, not so much. I usually don't have much patience with movies about historical events that wander away from historical facts, but _Tombstone_ is good enough that I don't really mind too much.
Yeah, so after reading about the OK Corral fight, the closer-to-history depiction is Wyatt Earp. However, the Costner film doesn't give you the feel of the Old West like Tombstone does. Trade off, it seems.
5:55 I think it's that attention to detail that solidifies the immersion of the film. From the opening to closing credits there is nothing that breaks that. And that is something today's films are lacking.
They hit and miss these days. Not enough consistency.
That donkey had talent.
Yeah but he's an a$$. HA!
It is a great movie....
For many reasons.
Very cool! Wonderful to hear about the great features in this movie! Hahahah don't ya hate it when someone where's the same shirt? Santee, you should be honored! You've started a fashion trend :D
0:20 lol and also nice vid Santee
quick, everybody quote a line from Tombstone... it really makes Cheese mad !!!! ha ha ha ha… just kidding Cheese :-) thanks for another great vid and for taking us to the parade... it really looks like fun!
HAHAH!
I'm Your huckleberry
"Let's have a spelling contest!"
Tombstone is a great movie but Jeff bridges true grit is still my favorite Western.
I love the authenic 1880's water bottle. 😀 Now I have to go get the movie "Tombstone." But the one I saw, I wasn't too thrilled about the language.
Did you see Deadwood?
@@ArizonaGhostriders I might, I have to check. I said once the videos should be longer, I realized that if they were,we would miss out on a lot of information that is in the videos! I'm constantly "rewinding" to see something I missed. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE TIME TO REST. 👍
I like the movie, despite some of the cheesiness. Its a great movie, pretty sure its the only western where you see a 1878 dbl action colt revolver. Man that gun was gorgeous
Great!
The guy at 2:29 was interesting. Happy Saturday.
Yeah, Terco is a staple of the Tombstone streets. He dons crossed bandanas and a big old sombrero. Looks awesome.
“Wyatt War with Kevin Costner is better then Tombstone” said no one ever
My favorite quote from the movie is when after Curly Bill shoots Ed White and the gang comes out to save a drunken Curly Bill from going to jail and village idiot Ike Clanton threatens Wyatt Earp and he puts his Colt on Ike's head and threatens to canoe Ike's head. An epic Hollywood threat.
One of my favorite lines from the movie as well. Also, "Are you gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed?"
Not to make you guys feel old but I just got into cowboy action and was born 1 year after tombstone released. Think you’ll ever make shorts on accuracy in westerns or not what you want to do with the channel?
Well, I felt old when I realized it was the 25th anniversary, so no worries! I do plan on doing some movie reviews and even playing Red Dead Redemption and pointing our inaccuracies in that. Well...we'll see.
Arizona Ghostriders nice, thanks for the response. Red dead redemption 2 releases later this year also. Never played the first one myself.
I've been told by the youngin's I better get good at it or no one will watch my live stream. HA!
5:10 the likeness is absolutely uncanny
🤠
Its the "easier to consume"-version of Costners Wyatt Earp-movie.
Yes
👌
This Craig Miller fella sure does look a lot like Robin Williams.
Glen seems to be quite the character
He is a riot.
I could never understand with everything else that was so accurate, that they got the faro set and game so wrong.
Good question. Be one for Peter Sherayko to answer.
Good one Santee! Cassidy Perez actually looks like the old tintypes of Josie Earp as a young woman. It is hard to believe it has been 25 years since Tombstone was released. The Kevin Costner movie was a better telling of Wyatt Earp's story, but Tombstone was the better movie.
Yeah she does, doesn't she? On Wyatt Earp: Agreed! The OK Corral shootout in Wyatt Earp was closer to the factual fight, too.
I read Josie Earp's psuedo-bio "I Married Wyatt Earp," along with the book Virgil's wife wrote and some other Tombstone related books many decades ago. Once you start piecing together several different versions of the story, you start to get a feel for what really might have happened. I was always struck by Virgil, who was always the quiet, steady, career lawman. Wyatt was a capable lawman, and well liked in Dodge City, but worked at whatever brought the money in. It's still a subject that still pulls at the popular mind as your well done video attests. LOL - see you on down the trail Santee!
