  • In the original cut (which was only released in Japan), Eric was shot by the police instead of being injured by the explosion, and the dad alien literally rips the bullet out of him. In the international release, they rerecorded the audio of Michael saying "He's gone?" but he's clearly saying the original line of "He's dead?" (and they did such a poor job of it, you can still hear the original line under the rerecorded version), and "He's dead, mom, he's dead" became "They can't help him". I wish I were joking.

  • I've heard that most of the crew for this movie was pretty much payed in advance or something. The director was hired out of the blue, showed up and saw that everyone who could be a part of a film crew was already there but he asked for the script and was told "We don't have a script. Just start filming and write one on the weekends" so they started filming and wrote one on the weekends. Also apparently the kid who starred in this film was someone who had a condition where he actually needed that wheelchair and he probably could've been a big 90s star if the movie wasn't so bad. His career never really picked up after it and now he's an artist or something. Which, props to him for being one of the few people in this film that could bounce back into the public eye after that. I don't think there's a single speaking actor in this film that continued acting after it. At least not within decade to follow.

    @Septic-Hearts@Septic-Hearts2 жыл бұрын
    • That is all super interesting info! It's pretty clear that the script/plot was not a top priority. Anything not directly ET- inspired most certainly evolved in a spitballing session wherein the director, the boom guy and some extras got really stoned and started brainstorming and laughing until they couldn't breath. (Alien design/random dance sequence/ wheelchair kid falling off cliff/entire climax and resolution of film -- all inspired by the director's vivid, intense acid trips on the weekend while fleshing out the "script.")

  • When I was a small child in the early 90's my aunt owned a video store in Luxembourg. I spent A LOT of time in that store and watched SO MANY movies. The thing is, I was very young at the time and now I don't recall most of them. Except for one single movie that randomly pops into my mind from time to time. I have thought about that movie hundreds of times, unable to remember what it was called or what it was about. All I remembered was the final scene involving an alien chewing pink gum in a car. I wasn't even sure if it had actually happened or if it was just a fever dream of mine. I didn't think I would be able to find proof of its existence so I never actually bothered to look it up. But then this video was recommended to me. This IS the movie! Thanks KZhead algorithm. I feel weirdly emotional now.

However, because of the reality that the actor was actually wheelchair bound, he cannot give him the use of his legs. So, he revives him from death, but doesn't help him walk? What the actual hell? That's why that was a bad decision. Also, the kid cannot act. Like at all.

Not just arbitrarily be out in public to be hidden, only to break out into choreographed dancing 😂 I’m one of the lucky few these days to have been a bad movie hunter at Blockbuster, and with that I found this movie, and Malibus Most Wanted, which actually became one of my favourite movies ever.

Like..a top student athlete would have serious difficulty accomplishing all that in a single night. Imagine carrying all that crap in with one arm, rolling a wheelchair + the weight of the stuff you're carrying with the other. Silently. In one night. And also destroying a wall.

  • The best part of this movie is probably how it’s not about the kids disability it’s not really brought up a lot and isn’t doing much in the plot and they didn’t just decide to remove the disability because of some alien technology at the end the kid just stayed the same and I think that’s nice not having the disability be used as something wrong with someone or something like that
