    • I don't know how any American who follows sports and the Olympics doesn't have Olivia Reeves as their favorite athlete right now. Not only is she beautiful and always in positive spirits, she is a brick house; per pound, she has to be the strongest Olympian woman. She makes weights that men would struggle with look like there's no weight on the bar at all. Olivia Reeves is basically the Lasha Talakhadze of female weightlifters.

    • @@jmcsquared18 C'mon man that's just ridiculous. Li Wenwen's record in 89+ is 39kg over second place from the 2024 World Cup. I hope Reeves decimates the 71s for years to come but to compare her so far to Lasha is absurd.

  • All these ladies put in a tremendous effort, but I'd say Reeves dominated. There's something about her smile and her easy manner that makes her fun to watch. Love the way she'd often walk off the stage like she'd just lifted 30lb and not 130 😊

  • Definitely one of the best sessions ever. Every one of these ladies showed amazing power and guts, but what Reeves did is on another level entirely. She may well end up being the Mary Lou Retton of women's weightlifting.

    @marzzz1@marzzz115 күн бұрын
    • There are five weight categories, but each country is only allowed to send a maximum of three women across all weight classes to compete in Paris. To maximise their chances of the best result, it is in China’s best interest to send their three most dominant women. China has three other women who are head and shoulders above the rest in their weight class and are almost certain locks for gold, so it doesn’t make sense for them to send Liao, who is not dominant and might get beaten as she was here. North Korea are not eligible to compete in Paris due to non-compliance with anti-doping testing.

      @ironchin17@ironchin1714 күн бұрын
    • @@ironchin17 Thank you for that explanation! I wasn't aware there was a competitor limit vs the number of weight classes, you would think that a country should be able to send someone in each weight class who qualifies. re: PRK, I guess that is not surprising??

      @marzzz1@marzzz114 күн бұрын
    • @@marzzz1 Yeah, it would be nice if countries could send one or even two lifters for each weight class, but this is what the IOC has decided

    @christianwijaya6906@christianwijaya690616 күн бұрын

  • I think it's ridiculous that some lifters have to do their attempts back-to-back while some get 20+ minutes between lifts. There's no reason they can't have everyone do a 1st attempt, then go back through the list for the 2nd and 3rd attempts, so everyone waits an equal amount of time between attempts This gives a very skewed idea of who's actual stronger, and is really easy to fudge for political or internal purposes. Another big issues is: Why would a lifter, even one on the _same team,_ be able to "steal time" from your attempt? Nonsense

And I actually like her lifting,I just try not to be clouded by bias👍🏿
