In this video, I renovate a large Ferrari Testarossa model that a fan sent me to renovate.
I disassembled the entire car, sandblasted it, applied the base coat, sanded it and painted it in the original red Ferrari color, I also fixed some things. the result is worth it

Just a few tips. When using faux techniques to show age and patina. Don't forget. Aluminum and plastic does not rust. Rust does not make round spots. That's not rust that's overspray. When taking things apart for the first time the uncovered areas will be pristine not aged. Your restoration of lightly wiping some parts with a rag and breaking out some rattle cans is faux as well.

It's a Ferrari Testarossa by Pocher Rivarossi, an italian farm. This Ferrari was made in 80' and I had it :)

I still have mine in the box. Bought it back in 1989 at The Sharper Image during one of their Tuesday auctions.
It seems to be beautiful, but the design does not seem to be very strong, in particular, the headlights, taillights, radiator grille, and also the front skirt does not fit tightly to the bumper and the doors, in my opinion, hold weakly. It would be better to put this model in a glass box, as an exhibition exhibit, so as not to accidentally break it.

Taking a bit more time and paying a little more attention to the details on this particular model would have been better appreciated. Noticed by the result of the final fit and finish.
по сути не плохая работа, но кровь из глаз пошла когда начал окрашивать пластиковые детали даже не как их не обработав, в результате салон вообще скукотища и не как не доработал модель хотя аналоговые ютуберы обычно такие хорошие модели дорабатывают

Lucky you had the pieces to fix the trashed wheel,carnt imagine where you found them.
He breaks the model and use painting to simulate rust and other stuff, plus the windshield and other clear parts appears out of nowhere.

You should've painted it white in resemblance to the famous white testarossa driven in Miami Vice.
They also had a black one in the later seasons

There is a mistake about the colours of the head. Because the car Is called "TESTAROSSA", so the the head cover's have to be coloured in Red, not in black.

Al principio del video, el coche está completamente oxidado pero con un brillo que parece esté lacado🧐
Es todo fake, esta pintado como oxidado, también le faltan un monton de piezas que despues aparecen por arte de magia.

I have the Pocher silver Testarossa convertible, I bought it back in the 1990's for $200 and the black Porshe 911 which cost $190, I was just about to order the Pocher F-40 and the Red Testarossa sedan, but the online model shop said they were suddenly discontinued. It turns out the Pocher factory in Italy had a fire and the molds were destroyed in the blaze.

ok I guess the brown stuff was supposed to mean rust to make the model look so bad. But neither die cast metal nor plastic can rust !!! Then if it was just stained with brown paint you could at least remove it with the correct solvent and I would have never sand blasted the body shell, which then required additional finishing by sand paper.
Hmm I suspect this model was damaged deliberately !

1/8 scale is best for detail despite the gaps in the panels. I still wonder why anyone would treat a big and expensive model like that, especially a metal one.
This is also a rare model. The company (Pocher) collapsed a few years ago after a fire that destroyed their factory.
I have two of his poached models, it's a shame, because your car is incomplete, a lot of details are missing... But great restoration, I have the red and the black Testarossa 1/8 ;)

Second-hand market. The kits have been out of production for years. The company is making new releases and has just released a Lotus 72.

Eso me llama la atención. Si bien lo rescatable es su entusiasmo por restaurar, se salta pasos importantes como el que dices. Hay otros youtubers que primero limpian todo antes de siquiera aplicar pasta de relleno o ponerse a pintar

Ouch, that poor model probably sat in the sun all its life. It's worth restoring because, tragically, the Pocher factory caught fire and that was the end of the entire company. I wish somone would revive this scale. I'd gladly pay $800-1,000 for a white 1:8 Testarossa convertible.

Odd how the guy just literally paints over what looks like mud but anyone with intelligence knows it's brown paint why not at least wash this off if it's supposed to be dirt/mud restoration is good but why must the item always been in a really dirty state obvious it's made up to look bad so that it's this amazing transformation at the end

Not sure why you would sandblast die cast. Paint stripper would be better for this application. Oh well
how did the heavily oxidised areas have no pits? Did you put putty over them?

Colleziono solo Ferrari scala 1/18, parlo da appassionato ferrarista, con questa 1/8 hai fatto un bel lavoro, complimenti 🙂, solo un paio di dettagli che potevi aggiungere e rimettere bene, la scritta posteriore "Testarossa" e il volante.
Oddio un lavoro sufficiente...il cavallino sul posteriore non si può guardare. Il colore rosso dati sui sedili ed molle degli ammortizzatori un pugno nell'occhio. Le decal fatte di carta poi su una scala 1/8 i dettagli sono fondamentali poi perché non dipingere le testate di rosso da cui prende il nome?!? Mistero 😢

Tra l'altro, ho rivisto il finale del video e si è scordato di mettere i vetri posteriori, non ci sono nè ai lati e nè dietro, mi pare... gli piacerà così, ma quelli li poteva mettere, hai ragione, non è stato proprio un lavoro fatto ad arte 😂
@@MASTERBIGSTRONG ma poi un altra cosa simula che il modellino sia in quelle condizioni...se guardi bene le plastiche non le pulisce le vernicia direttamente perché ha simulato le macchi della presunta ruggine e fango; non sono l'unico che se ne accorto leggi gli altri commenti e vedrai...
