A 3-phase crane motor weighing 112 kg. It was a great challenge for us. When examining the motor inside, it was surprisingly covered with a special layer of black glue. Nowadays mechanical devices are way more efficient than old ones, just take a look at all the material improvement was done over the years. There are just 2 reasons why people come out with such ignorant opinions as yours: 1)Knowing almost nothing about the subject 2)Nowadays mechanical devices such as motors and reduces undergo way harsher conditions than before, not to say that work way more.

Note: don't expect from that motor to work... the coils are burned... the bearings are bad.

agree on the bearings, to go to this amount of trouble to refit those was a waste of time, but the windings arent burnt out, the OP mentions this in the video description

I'm starting to think these guys just take perfectly good old stuff, bash it with a hammer, and throw it in the ocean to rust for several months before digging it out to fix.

What were the insulation resistance readings between the windings and between windings and earth? Were the windings balanced? Bearings should always be replaced after exposure to heat.
Lipstick on a pig. Reusing the old bearings, no testing of the windings, no wonder they didn't power it up to see what happened.

if it was "burnt". the winding insulation would have gone bye bye. not much of a restoration. i really wanted to see him redo those windings OR at least get a matching set and replace.

Когда он без усилия надел подшипник на вал, я уже напрягся.....

How do you know the motor can work without testing the coil performance? unless you are using a new or refurnish coil before work starts?

Солидарен, судя по всему обмотки горевшие. Посадочное место обточил кругом
Я по работе, часто покупаем старое производственное оборудование, со старых дробилок, бетонных заводов, элеваторы и т.д. Так вот часто приходится такие засраные движки снимать, разбирать и восстанавливать, и именно восстанавливать, отдавать электрикам на перемотку статора! Шкив я бы этот снял, хотя он уже обломан, но можно наварить было и восстановить, но всё равно тут вышкой заливай, в солярке пускай отмок бы, потом бы грел его тем же резаком, чутка простукивая я бы снимал его! Подшипники сразу под замену пошли бы, у них явно выработка и от коррозии, ямки, вообщем под замену! Корпус я бы пескоструил, там не так сложно этот пескоструй собрать, а тут в ролике просто корпус почистил, кёрхером помыл и всё, типа реставрация так называемая? Я диз поставил.
Kastom Den я перематывал движки ..здесь он не показал что с обмоткой рабочие не рабочие ..есть межветковое ...ещё водой сколько брызгал ..после воды сушат в печи ...так сушить можно неделю ..на воде показывает на корпус ..так как мотор старый изоляция между пазами изношена ..надо все проверять

No reviso la resistencia del motor ,mucho menos checo si no esta aterrizado el motor, los rodamientos deber ser nuevos, jamás se aisló con barniz el bobinado , tampoco reviso el ajuste de las tapas en pocas palabras hizo puras mamadas
Asi es lo restauro por fuera y el bobinado no le hizo nada .aparte lo mojo y lis rodamientos igual muy mal la restauracion

ну практически все обезьяньи реставрации сводятся к отмывке говен и покраске желтымрозовымсеребрянкой.
Судя по цвету проводов обмотки мотор тупо сгоревший, а перематывать его он не стал. Поэтому и нет проверки на работоспособность - мотор заведомо дохлый.
Так железо механику ремонтируют, а электрику то сперва прозвонить нужно, это не сноповязалка и не зиповская зажигалка..... да и методы реставрации не очень щадящие, пескоструй бы многое решил, ..... только не в обмотки и не в якорь

So has anyone seen this motor run? Because with my only one year experience rebuilding three phase and single phase I can tell you those windings are burnt out. But it looks pretty👍
Twas fun to watch. I'm not a mechanic, but a few things came to mind. Lead paint? Will that fan eventually melt? You didn't pack the bearings at all? I would have liked to see what you reconnected the electrical feed through. The 'black glue', if by design was important. What did you find out about it? Thx for the video.
03:05 The wrench is in the wrong position to be torquing on that bolt. It should be either 90 deg clockwise or counte-clockwise. Then the force on the wrench would be along the axis of the shaft, not a cross it. 06:05 What??? Holding the shaft with a pipe wrench and no protection to prevent marring the shaft? 08:19 Are those OHSA approved flip-flops? 13:17 Not the way to clean motor shaft. 15:20 The wrong way to pack a bearing. Does it work?

I work on rotors and help rebuilt them. Just the mechanical side of it. Did you check the run out off the bearing surfaces to see if the shaft was running true? And the size of the key way to see if worn? If the shaft is running out too much or damage surface you can spray weld the surface and get it reground. If the key-way is bad they can be knocked in with a chisel or welded and re-machined. Blessings.

no lo verías funcionado porque está quemado ese motor aparte le hecho agua y no lo horneo para quitar e humedad solo lo limpio y pinto pero de nada sirve si el motor está dañado

Motor was in a fire so the windings are shot as you cant restore the laquer coating that keeps it from arcing

As a somebody who has been working in the motor repair industry for nearly 15 years I can say with absolute confidence that this man has no idea what he is doing and could very likely cause massive property damage and death if he was to sell this on to some unassuming person. That motor would burst into flame within seconds of being energised. Leave it to the professionals please.

However, restoration is satisfactory only for body of motor. But what about field coils ? Why field coils are not changed? Whether coils were fine ?
Maybe he doesn't understand how to install copper coils.
I'm sorry but if one of my mechanics/electricians did this, I would fire them. Why? Reused old bearings, sprayed the motor windings with WATER, did not megger prior to re-assembly, and failed to use proper PPE. This is an accident and FIRE waiting to happen.

Сгоревшая, даже не сомневайтесь. На роторе тоже видны следы перегрева. Не факт, что и в беличьей клетке нет обрывов.

Looks great, but, does it run? Those stator windings looked pretty crispy to me. That new cooling fan was a good move. It will give at least 3X the air flow, and will minimize vibration, due to being lighter, and much better balanced. I would like to have seen and heard it run.

What’s with the flip flops? Who wakes up in the morning and says “ok, well I have that big motor restoration job to do today and it’s pretty heavy with lots of metal plates and stuff so let me put on my flip flops”? Come on man, put on some shoes. No one wants to see your feet anyway.

A sand blaster would have cut the cleanup time by two thirds. You didn't run a test to see if the windings were damaged either. You NEVER put back old bearings, and you pack them before installing. Bearings that slip onto a shaft without pressing them are worn out. It may look pretty, but will it run??

Has to be a South East Asian person doing this ........ probably the Philippines ......... the best part of this video , is the stater is soaked in grease , which means a gasket or seal or a bushing failed and the armature is probably screwed as well and he threw the old bearing back in too .....brutal .....
