I remember when everyone hated this movie when it came out (“the CGI looks so fake”, “that wasn’t really Absorbing Man”). Now with She-Hulk out, everyone’s talking about this movie like it’s a masterpiece.
Nah I’ve always loved this movie
I've also always loved this movie and I only figured out people hated it yesterday. Such a great movie so I was shocked to learn people actually hated it. Then again, people also hated John Carpenter's The Thing when that was first released
It's quite literally from the same people who were tasked with doing Star Wars: Attack of the Clones a year prior. Of course people are gonna hit it hard when ILM were as good as CG got for the time.
Sounds about right for "those" people. I enjoyed it though! I WILL say that the CGI doesn’t look as great as I remember in some spots but it's still a awesome movie!
I was thinking the same thing
This movie is seriously underrated.
It’s a little hard to watch and to defend but yeah I’ve always enjoyed watching it
This movie was awesome.
It is way better than the 2008 iteration.
Theres so many MCU fanboys on the comments hating on this movie
@@gjfkhvjzjsxbq fuck them to the moon
People say he is too green but don’t understand, especially back in the early 2000’s Marvel comics, he was literally that green. This Hulk is the most comic accurate and doesn’t deserve all the hate
Norton's best
Even though it is comic accurate, sometimes it's better to take creative liberties and change a few things from the source material This is by far my favorite Hulk movie but I agree when people say he's too green

A cerebral Hulk film with some intense performances and epic cinematography. I want to think that this Hulk exists in the same universe as Tobey's Spider-Man.
Makes sense. Only problem was the CGI
Back in the day 06-09ish there was discussions of having a team up movie with the Fox and Sony Spider-Man Marvel characters. Wolverine Jackman was supposed to make a cameo in Spider-Man 2 but supposedly his costume was lost. IDK if that's true but that's the story that went around. In the team up movie would've included Tobey's Spider-Man, the Fox X-Men & FF, Affleck's DD, and maybe Thomas Payne's Punisher. In Spider-Man 2 you can see a cameo of Punisher, and in Blade 1 at the end there was a deleted scene with Morbius on a rooftop. Also in FF2:RoSS Mr. Fantastic morphed his face into Hugh Jackman. I think in Dr. Strange 2 we are getting a version of the Fox & Sony team up movie from back then.
@@ubercoo well it’s clear that a lot of Easter eggs, cameos, and deleted scenes were around but things didn’t pan out right. I’m happy things are better
Imagine if Sony and Comcast agreed to put Hulk in the Raimi-verse
@@JoeMemes That would be great
Am I the only one who thinks this hulk would’ve fit perfectly in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe?
I actually think ruffalos hulk would fit the Tobey universe because hes the only one which is corny, the others try too hard to be serious
@@gjfkhvjzjsxbq Bruce is usually very serious the same as the old tv show because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone
@@qk5574 if you've ever read a hulk comic you would the know that most of the storylines are ridiculous
@@gjfkhvjzjsxbq I mean it’s fiction, it is the epitome of the word ridiculous lol, it’s not real. For Example: The Hulk regenerating from a skeleton or from being eaten alive by bugs.
@@gjfkhvjzjsxbq Most fiction is absurd and ridiculous because it isn’t real, but most of the time characters like Captain America, Vegeta, and Batman shows being serious sales more than being comical.

*2:10** I remember that scene as a kid... Hulk angry at Bruce for saving those people from the bridge risking his life was chilling.*
? could you please explain
@@spiderkidj7479 basically the whole time the hulk has been his classic self, leave him alone he’s not out to hurt anyone they keep trying to hurt him. It’s the one piece of humanity (Bruce) that remains as he goes around big and green. Now the the Jet fighter was headed for the bridge and Hulk jumps on it to ensure it goes under the bridge instead, afterwards he climbs up to the cockpit and is head butting it not to break the glass but to tell the pilot to put him down. Once he falls and passes out the next part is in hulks mind where he’s had enough of the humanity (Bruce) holding back his rage, hence the glass break and the “puny human” line he’s took the humanity away and once he emerges from the ground he is truly savage and out to hurt since all everyone wants to do is hurt him, until of course seeing Betty calms him down and brings Bruce back through love for her.

People weren't ready for this kind of comic book film yet.
if i was universal i would remaster this movie, by changing hulks colour grading from that extremely bright green, but not to the point the huck is in muted colours like incredible hulk, and do some colour grading in some other scenes of the movie. Redo the CG fight scenes between hulk and the dogs and hulk with absorbing Man, making them visually appealing and awesome fight scenes. Finally i would remove some of those jarring edits and effect and trim the movie slighty by removing some fluff, and making it tight. That way you will have a 9/10 Drama-action Hulk film. That would somewhat be maybe a budget of 50M to 60M and re-release at cinemas. The marketing of this movie also killed it, made people expect they were going to see something similar to Sam Raimi's Spiderman
Well it does look silly at many parts, especially the comic book style editing that they do throughout the movie, which is a weird choice since the really go dark in some places

For me, this Hulk is the best. He is very strong, looks invulnerable. And he is extremely aggressive when it is really necessary, and not constantly. There is also something kind in his face.
I think Edward Norton's hulk looked the scariest but in this one he was more ruthless. But both the 08 and 03 versions captured his aggression perfectly

The CGI almost looks photo real in a lot of shots. ILM were real masters in the early 2000’s

I Love That Hulk Movie From Universal Pictures & Marvel (2003)
The Incredible Hulk (2008) = Universal Pictures and Marvel Studios
When Bruce/Hulk sees Betty and becomes slightly teary eyed is a small detail that goes missed Such a good movie 🙏🏾
I don't understand why everyone hated this one so much, I liked it a lot more than the MCU film, which was part reboot and part sequel. Not only was the cast in this one better, I thought the characterizations were better, especially Betty. Jennifer Connolly was perfect, as was Sam Elliott as her father.
Both. Both are great. The Incredible Hulk is a great movie too, just like this one. They're both great in their own ways.
I don't think audiences were ready for it at the time. This came out after films like Blade, Spider-Man, and the first couple of X-Men films. People were probably expecting a superhero movie with Hulk smashing all kinds of things and fighting big monster-type villains. This movie wasn't that. It wasn't a "turn off your brain and have fun" kind of movie. It was a much more cerebral film and also very stylistic. Ang Lee's HULK was more of an Art-House film than an action-packed Blockbuster.
2003: Puny human 2012: Puny God.
Can we just talk about how a pilot just flew into space.... and now he is just gone.... there is no coming back from that, his jets were still on so he had thrust to leave orbit
I ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PILOT!!!
Still to this day I would love to see Ang Lee make a sequel to this film. Definitely my Favourite Hulk.
I Love this movie, please Universal make movie with Hulk solo again.
Bruce: you found me Betty: You weren't that hard to find Bruce: Yes I was Deep dialogue, very sad
This is the best Hulk film to this day.
I forgot he actually saved that fighter pilot
The most beautiful movie EVER! Its music, its unique scenes, its characters, its actors, its quiet and serious HULK!...
The CGI was way better than what was used in other movies of the time, and even it has a better love story than the Twilight movies.
Brings back memories when the SFPD used to enforce the law, the streets were cleaner, many thriving communities and the businesses were there to stay...😂😂😂
Best hulk film!!
bruhhh seriously, even the hulk gets calm when seeing Jennifer Connelly's beauty
Because she was the only person that never tried to hurt him. It wasn’t her beauty… it was her keen understanding.
Tobey Maguire and Eric Bana would've made a great team.
We need theme be in secret wars
Bruce: You found me. Betty: You weren't that hard to find. Bruce: Yes I was. Wow! Just, wow! This short exchange conveyed so much depth of how Bruce gets completely lost when he's overcome by rage and The Hulk takes over. The 2003 Version for me showed the pure, visceral, intense rage of The Hulk on one hand, and the softening effect of Betty Ross on the other. And MCU gives us a freaking lullaby. I started out really liking Mark Rufallos Hulk, but by Endgame I despised his version intensely and now have come to appreciate both the 2003 and 2008 versions even more. Damn you Marvel! Damn you all to hell!
Then it's so strange that he shacks up with Black Widow of all people. Like, did Betty Ross not exist in 2015 when "Age of Ultron" started happening?
Hulks Weakness is for Betty😊😊😊😊💚💚💚💚
Fun fact: Sam Elliott, the actor who played as Thaddeus Ross in this film also portrayed another Marvel comics character as Carter Slade/The Caretaker in Ghost Rider (2007)
Instead of trying to kill him, convince the hulk to join powerlifting!
The one good thing about this movie is the cgi for The Hulk actually looks pretty good.
100% and everyone says this cgi sucks never undestood that.
This hulk’s CGI has tons of layers on skin.
Doing CG humans was a hard task, but ILM has done what was thought to be the impossible before during the 90's. The way the skin was rendered for the time was pretty good even before subsurface scattering became a thing.
There's plenty good about this movie
I think the fact that most of the cgi for this film went into the hulk itself helped a lot, I feel like the rest was very practical and very low cgi
19 yrs ago and still looks good... But that green colour is little bit too green 😁😁
That green is perfect

Happy 20th Anniversary "HULK" (JUNE 20, 2003)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(R.I.P. Stan Lee)
Best Hulk film ever. It has it’s flaws but it’s actual movie with depth, not just a dumb mindless action flick. Too bad most Marvel fans can’t see past the color of the Hulk himself, when arguably the CGI still looks better than the 2008 & MCU versions. If enough people gave this movie the credit it deserves, Ang Lee + Universal & Marvel would probably do a “Special Edition” and fix some of the weaker elements like updating the CGI, darkening Hulk’s color, getting rid of some of the more tonally inconsistent editing (but leaving the surreal parts in), and over all just fixing some of it’s flaws to make this the classic superhero film it deserves to be remembered as. But that will likely never happen because Marvel fans prefer mindless action, fake CGI, dumb jokes, and simple stories that act more like theme park rides over actual films like what Ang Lee does.
Are you high the cgi in 2008s hulk is the best we have ever seen for a hulk movie.
I like that they gave Hulk a creepy sinister voice rather than a typical dumb brute voice.
I know right? He's not just some monster, he's the dark part of Bruces psyche. He constantly mocks Bruce, calling him puny which is why he feels he has to save him

The Hulk we now have is a literal joke. Disney ruined him
Because they don't know how to write that character, it's what they do when they have nothing else, make a joke. Thor is another character they threw under the bus for a joke. I really liked Thor 1 & Avengers when Asgardians spoke in a Shakespearean way. They killed off everyone he knew and blew up his planet over the course up to endgame. Why? over the perception of his prestige & privilege, so therefor in order to progress his story and humanize him he must fall from grace. The problem is, they have yet to give him the turn around for a full character revolution to get back to grace. To truly be worthy and be more than human. Tony's Arch was to sacrifice himself as was called out by Cap in Avengers 1, Caps arch was finally admitting his faults to himself and to tell Tony about his parents and after that he could lift Thor's Hammer. Thor has yet to have his comeback moment. Some would say Endgame which was the beginning of that turn but we didn't get to see him fulfill that turn around and now by Thor 4 he's going to die & sacrifice himself even though A that's a copy of Iron Man and B doesn't satisfy the characters full revolution. In order to satisfy Thor's full arch he must become more than worthy. He should take over for King Oden and supersede him and rule the 9 realms like he was supposed to do in Thor 1 before falling from grace.
