Love them. I need tips on how to buy them without my wife finding out?!...
lol Same !!!
I’m just glad I’m not the only one who has this issue lol 😂
i have 2 pairs of orsnge adios pro 3, a pair of orange deviate nitro 2 and a pair of orange prime x. do you think my wife would notice if i get these metaspeed paris? i think she might notice because of that hint of neon in the midsole
Hahaha same problem bro 😂
Bin her off mate
The fact that the edge is now better is a very interesting twist. When you look at the plate design it does make sense, even though i used to be a sky-type runner.
Love it. I got the 1st Edge+ and love the improvements
Finally here! Right before the Tokyo marathon!
Excellent review. Thanks. Interesting the Edge is becoming the more popular amongst the Elites. Really enjoyed both shoes in the previous version. With the weight loss and changes I'm sold on this one. Can't wait for it to become available.
Not sure where that info came from he quoted. Other reviews are saying the Sky Paris would suit the Pros more.
Been waiting for these they look amazing But it’s consumer confusion which one to go for . Stride vs cadence? 🤯
Raced the Pittsburgh marathon in the Edge+ last year and loved it. I think I might miss the 8mm drop but TBD. Definitely going to give it a fair shake
i am doing that this year and it's my first and i feel like a complete doofus for contemplating a fast shoe I"M 58 FFS only been running for a year
@@hermeticallysealed Don't feel like a doofus. You don't have to be a crazy fast marathoner to get the benefits out of a fast shoe. In fact, what the studies and science is showing in regards to these plated super shoes is that, virtually, everyone benefits from running in them regardless of speed, size, etc. So just go for it! Pittsburgh is a super fun race, great atmosphere. The city really shows out!
Sounds like these updates finally make the Edge a serious Vaporfly competitor for me. Be interesting to see how the new foam and potential lower weight translate for the Superblast 2 also?!
apparently also a selling point is that they last and are more durable than the vaporflys, apparently ppl are reporting at mile 200 it still feels new compared to vaporflys at mile 100 its done
There has never been a bigger barrier of entry for a running shoe than trying to figure out which one of these 2 are right for you as a non elite runner who has never gotten their style of running analyzed
Go to the store, try them both and buy one
Most running stores can only afford to carry a few high end $uper $hoes, and if they happen to carry these ASICS the odds are not great that they would have both models in your size. I’m still trying to find a store that stocks the ASICS magic speed 3, no luck anywhere near St Louis Missouri so far :/. Or Phoenix, or Sedona… and good luck finding Puma running shoes anywhere.
Love how they keep going for red. It's always faster!
Enjoyable and informative as always. Thanks. But I'm left with wondering why ASICS have gone for Sunrise Red again for speed shoes. The colorway they used (naturally for Tokyo Olympic range. Paris? France? Bue, white and red? I'd have chosen a "throwback" to early Onitsuka shoes in white with blue and red.
Edge plus was a great shoe for me for the 5k to 10 mile distance. Thoughts on the new version still having that aggressiveness to it or has it become too soft for the shorter distances? Great video guys!
A race day shoe that doesn’t have a build-in “Grand Canyon” rock collector in the midsole… Finally🙌🙌🙌
More forefoot stack, softer foam and a nice orange colour ... seems like a must buy for me. If I only would know what kind of runner I am - stride or cadence?
Just check your data on your running watch or strava
what numbers should we be looking at to confirm one over the other?@@ardkf
Oh my goodness that weight! Just got the first Sky+ and love it so I can only imagine how these feel.
Good morning. Like to Meaghan and Thomas. A nice day for everyone.
Great job guys!! YES "EDGE"!!
I went with the edge because I want more foam under my forefoot. I primarily forefoot and then dabble in mid and heel depending how I’m feeling on a run. So it also sounds like the edge is better for that. It did look like in Tokyo more runners had the Sky, though.
Might have to snag these...
Im new to race day shoes and was looking at the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4. Is your preference the Edge over the Pro 4 as well?? Too many decisions to make!
1:51... one other what, Thomas? :D I'm excited about these!
I replayed that like 10 times
"Shit difference" 😂 I feel like he started to say shoe then switched to difference mid word.
Update the daily trainer rankings please!
3:44 bro is speaking facts I almost always have a bloody right toe running there
Between two (3?) shoes. These vs vaporfly3
Hi, So, The Edge "feel" softer underfoot due to the plate position, correct?
Which one would you recommend for someone who’s solely a forefoot striker. Even though I’m a cadence runner I got the sky + because I needed extra foam in the forefoot. Now with both being the same, I’m unsure which one to choose. Will be using for Half marathons only.
First run today in the Sky Paris, 20k. It's like a super light alphafly 2. Love them
I just bought these aiming for a 3:45 marathon in June… is my pace too slow for these to work for me? I wore the VF3s during my last marathon and they seemed to work well for me…
@@lukejackson6682 i think theyd be good. theyre so light and comfy
ASICS running shoes are surely best of the best ❤
I did put both shoes on foot Monday night and jogged a bit and like you guys I liked Edge Paris a lot more. Sky Paris with its flat plate and late stage rocker didn't work for me.
Both of those shoes look great! I wonder if you would do a blind side-by-side comparison, like if Thomas gave Meaghan a Sky for one foot and an Edge for the other and just record her impressions of the shoes without her knowing which was which.
You would easily notice a difference
Will there be a restock on the edge?
Might just have to snag one of those, but edge og sky?
Over all, which one is better?
Is this as fun to run in as the cielo?
While my Superblast and gel nimbus are size 11 - these also fit me in size 11 - don't be fooled by the size (rear sole to tip of shoe) I'm a narrow/normal width D and those these uppers "look" smaller, they're perfectly fine on my feet and I have room. The shoe itself is actually "shorter" than the other shoes but not the actual portion where your feet are inside the uppers.
I much preferred the Edge+ over the Sky+, and the firmness of the FF Turbo was the only thing holding me back from using it for longer races, so the changes made to the Edge+ are music to my ears! Thanks Thomas and Meaghan!
Can’t wait for your review and A/B testing. I was gonna go Wave Rebellion Pro 2 as my next shoe, but these have intrigued me cause of the improved foam and weight.
those look siiiiick.
I thought Meg was going to say, "I agreen"
now the question is which version is suitable for the average marathoner?
The one with more cushion. Or the Superblast.
@@tomrichardson5433which one is that?
2024 is amazing for runners! Too many good shoes show up.
I just bought these aiming for a 3:45 marathon in June… is my pace too slow for these to work for me? I wore the VF3s during my last marathon and they seemed to work well for me…
it shouldn’t be; did you try the shoe?
I am normally wear a US 10.5 in other brands but wear different sizes on the Metaspeed series: Metaspeed Sky: US 11 Metaspeed Sky+: US11.5 What size should I be getting for this model?
12 🤣
Try 10.5
which one should i get? i increase my stride when running faster but i already have high cadence even during easy runs (186 average on easy days, maybe plus 10 on hard days). superblast is the only asics shoe i have and i had to go half size smaller. should i go true to size with metaspeed?
Edge
Compared to EP4, is the Edge Paris softer?
Comparable
Rank for me - asics Paris, saucony pro4, new balance sc elite 4, hoka cielo x1
You pretty much just did it.
@@Believeintherunno Alphafly 3...?
Good to know to size half down 👍
Didn't they say they were true to size?
@@avenuePadyes they said had to go up in sky plus but now back to TTS.
How do I know if i'm stride or cadence runner? On easy runs cadence is cca 175 and during fast seseeions up to 188.
easy - cadence!
First to comment! Let's go! crois en la course, metaspeed sky la troisième version est arrivée.
Wish they would make these at least a little different in looks so you could tell and better decide which to buy
Sounds like a great update. Any word on release of a Magic Speed 4?
Nothing yet
@@Believeintherun Thanks. I'm guessing summer, based on MS3 release. Leaked photos look great.
What's best for slow heavy runners?
Neither of these, perhaps look at the Superblast if you want ASICS wider for support and lots of foam for cushioning but still firm.
She said she preferred the Sky but I think she meant the Edge? More cushion between the carbon plate and the foot. That’s the edge correct?
No, she says she prefer the Edge.
March 4th…. 😮 don’t have to wait too long.
Is the new Metaspeed able to contend with the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 & Endorphin Elite? The Magic Speed is arguably a better speed day shoe than the Endorphin Speed 3/4 as they’ve been added too. The Superblast/Nimbus are as strong as Saucony offerings. I used to train/race in ASICS exclusively (10 years ago). As I restarted running I found myself more drawn to the slightly bouncier ride in Saucony foams. However, I think Saucony have opened the door with the latest Speeds so the Magic may be the preferred option. ASICS Superblast sounds a phenomenal shoe, (as will the Triumph 22 & Hurricane be on release) so it’s becoming more about the top tier race shoe comparison. I don’t mind Adics slower release rate as experience tells me they design and build quality. However, to become less clear about the Sky/Edge seems absurd. They needed to drop one or make it explicit what the difference is. Slightly confused now!
Metaspeed sky Paris is the second most lightest shoe...2nd only to the evo 1 and the foam is also better on this version. So, I can say with certainty that this shoe is better than the endorphin pro 4 and elite
@@RAHUL-un2jolighter doesn’t mean better
@saturn7835 there are 3 things which can be used to compare supershoes. In the order of priority these are: weight, rocker geometry and responsiveness/springiness. Now, I will compare endorphin elite with the metaspeed. Both are using peba based foam and from the reviews, I really don't think there will be much difference in the energy return of the two shoes but the weight of metaspeed sky is much less (6.4 oz) than the elite (7.2 oz). Finally coming to the rocker geometry, I do feel that the elite is more aggressive than the sky paris but if you do want a more rocketed shoe you can definitely go with the ms edge which has a more aggressive rocker than the sky in this version. Hope this will be able to explain why I think the metaspeed is going to be better than the endorphin. Not comparing the pro 4 here as it is inferior to the elite(less aggressive rocker, 7.4 oz weight and a non peba based foam). Any queries? I am free to answer
@@RAHUL-un2jo Thank you for sharing your informative post. I agree with the majority of what you’ve stated. Im unsure I’d give weight the top ranking BUT what I would accept is if Weight is a significant saving THEN it must count in the plus column. Factors that impact weight are the size of the runner. Even though they wear bigger heavier shoes larger runners may carry a heavier shoe better. In terms of geometry I’m not sure your assessments is accurate on the Meta Speed series. What is being said is the Edge has a more gradual and less severe rocker with the apex of the carbon plate nearer the heel. This means the Edge may be more likely to suit heel strikers. Interestingly elite runners are opting for it in this iteration. The fact the plate is nearer the foot on the Sky and the rocker more severe means of a runner can forefoot strike in a marathon or mid foot strike then the science backs it being more propulsive as there is more foam under the plate to be leveraged. I would say that so long as the plate is not ridiculous or an outlier then I’d give foam a higher weighting than plate. The direct comparisons here are the Meta Speed Sky vs the Endorphin Elite with the Metaspeed Edge vs the Pro 4. Your main point remain significant which is the ASICS shoes are not only lighter they are (in % terms) lighter to a noteworthy degree. My only slight concern (having not worn the Meta Speed is actually to do with the shape of the front of the shoe which tapers (I still have ASICS racing flat in my collection and that was ok). All said ASICS are definitely looking strong across the board and the Magic Speed 4 is liable to be top super trainer on this showing…
@michaelgriffiths305 let me explain what I meant with the rocker and geometry here. In the metaspeed paris series the sky has a late rocker which means that the midsole starts curving up more near the forefoot so you will feel the roll much later in the toe off phase in the gait cycle whereas the edge paris has an early stage rocker so you will feel that rolling sensation significantly earlier and hence it will result in a 'quicker toe off' and that is the reason why edge is suitable for cadence runners as they increase the speed by increasing the number of foot strikes or 'toe offs' while running. The plate in both the shoes are arranged/shaped/oriented in a way it can better suit the purpose of each of the shoes. The plate is higher in the sky which gives more foam under the plate to compress which makes sense for stride type runners who depend more on increasing their stride length and will not benefit much from an aggressive rocker which is in the edge. Hope this clarifies your doubt.
How would this compare to the recently released New Balance SC Elite V4?
This is lighter, a little more aggressive and narrower fit
The shoe looks perfect! Except for the FF Turbo+ label on the foam.... Kinda ruins an otherwise beautiful shoe.
Vaporfly 3 or Metaspeed Edge Paris?

@@BelieveintherunEndorphin Pro 3 vs Sky Paris ?
Damn my walket is going to take another hit. 😂
Damn, they look good. Best looking shoes I’ve seen in years!
Fingers crossed they’ll have a 31cm size of this one available in Japan… the previous metaspeed generations and the superblast all maxed out at 30 so I’ve never been able to try them on…
How well do you think it would hold up as a daily trainer?
These are race shoes. There is lot of exposed foam. Won't hold up as a daily
Love the review, but the flow. WOW that's dark.😅
They flip flopped? Great lets make these two shoes even more confusing.
Every time y’all do the Green light I just picture shoe company reps sitting in an office huddled in a circle going ape shit and cheering bc BITR gave them the seal of approval.
What shoe to go for when having a cadence between 170 and 198 depending on speed? Also varies in stride, but this is my cadence in general.
Love the naming sky has much less drop thus pointing your toes up towards sky more than the edge 😂
Looks like ASICS didn't Nike their super shoe as so many people feared they might. (To Nike something. A verb meaning to make bad changes to an already good product that decreases what people liked about it).
You know you're high when: you write the weight of the shoe on their bottom. GREEN LIGHT BABY!!!
I ran my first run in the sky Paris yesterday and the foam is nice but that midfoot is to narrow for me it caused arch blisters for me! So now I’m stuck with a $250 pair of shoes I can’t wear 😭
I sure hope Asics got the scent right this time. The first Metaspeed had the distinctly nasty paint smell
This comment hit home for me😅. I just had the Edge Paris delivered yesterday and the smell was something different. Kind of like formaldehyde.
@@derringera wow they still haven’t fixed their paint smell? It’s such a pity because the shoes seem to be really legit but they figured out a way to invoke disgust that is totally unrelated to running.
What's the point with the Paris. Why not give a brand new name? But they blew my mind with the weight.
The Paris Olympics obviously being the point
I get it though, by end of the year, the name will be outdated
Yes, it's the 2nd most lightest supershoe...crazy indeed!
these people keep saying metaspeed has very comfortable upper, but what i found is the lacing is crappy and put tons of pressure on the top of my feet
I didn't!
The way this is named reminds me of motorola phones
they raised the price
Ahhh, the Edge finally gets to be the bride....
This shoe on hand looks small. Anyone else noticed? My size 11 Novablast 4’s look huge next to them. It’s the smallest looking shoe of my collection (Endorphin 4, Cloud Eclipse, Vaporfly 3).
Wish they would make size 14!🙄😡
Hated my sky+. Have 12 miles on mine. Just doesn't work for me. I think this is not a great strategy for ASICS. Runners can't decide between these 2 shoes and definitely can't afford to buy both to choose. I'll just skip altogether... Have all the super shoes, sorry ASICS...
Just FYI, those outsoles becomes cosmetic if you run in mixed terrain. You have to look after the shoe like a baby otherwise you probably won't see three digit miles.
Why would you run on anything other than tarmac in these! They aren't made for trails! However I did do a 10k in a forest trail with gravel and trail mix and they were fine after.
I have 250km in my Metaspeed Sky+ entirely on gravel roads. No issues whatsoever.
Is Meg OK? She doesn't seem like her usual bubbly self.
She’s still disappointed in the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4.

You guys seemed like you really could not be bothered with this review. Specifically in entertaining any of the marketing terms ASICS have adopted to describe aspects of this shoe.
Meg, you seems like something troubles you. I hope it is only the mood.
Asics 🤍💥❤️🔥💫🧡👌🏼🙃🐐🙌🏻🤩😍🤗 J.
Meg does not look/seem happy. Hope she is okay
Meg….. such a supportive wife! Zero expectations. Doh
does this seems like a "durable" supershoe ... seems like a lot of super shoes lose their "pop" fairly quickly :/
lol here come the “I’m a forefoot striker” heros
It’s more to let viewers know where we feel the shoe and less of a judgement. We don’t really care how you strike. But we can’t really advise people on how a shoe feels from heel to toe if we are landing forward.
Seems like heelfoot strikers are giving the Edge rather good ratings🤷♂️
Wth the weird yellow spec makes it look like a prototype. Really confusing. Not adding anything aesthetic for me
It's there with a purpose. The boundry bw the yellow and black section runs in line with the plate. So that yellow band is specifying you the position of the plate. I think it is a genius way of specifying the plate position.
What a sadness! I had so many expectations about this new version of MetaSpeed, but according to Meaghan's words, the new midsole is even softer than the previous one! My God! The way things are going, about three more versions and brands will be making butter midsoles! People like me, from a few generations ago, who ran in really firm (hard) shoes are amused when they hear someone say that these current midsoles are too firm! Midsoles like those of the current NB, for example, have become so soft for me that it is impossible to extract anything useful from them. It's no wonder that Adidas is one of the best super sneakers and Nike had to create that accessory on the front of the Alpha Fly to make it firmer. After all, are super sneakers made to perform and be used in competitions or to be used as a slipper to be used after a shower? And the sole? Is it serious that there is enough rubber and in the necessary places? So only ASSICS actually realized this! Because other brands, even though they save on this item, are much more generous when it comes to runners' needs.
They can never just say the shoe name. They always have to try something funny. Can't stand them
Yet here you are.
edge is poo poo the other one is the closest to nike carbon shoe
So you’ve tried both of the Paris version? Or did you not listen to the review yet?
