Fucking top video this mate shows how real these lads are he is a fucking cool as fuck lad could watch this over and over. Fucking superhero’s
And also bikes not football what a man
What always amazes me with these gentleman in the SF is how articulate, calm and educated they come across but always with a sense of humour. They really are the thinking soldier, very inspirational as a outsider of this world.
My bro in law was 22, and at wedding to my sister, there was several of his mates from Hereford. They were, as you say, calm, in control, disciplined types. My bro in law is same, hot heads (these idiots who want to fight the world) don't make good SF. They're not looking for that, people in control, capable of ultra violence when absolutely necessary.
@@paulwilliams2663 p😮v❤
That’s the difference with the general forces and the SF, they can think and articulate aswell as being shit hot at the basics. Very special guys!
@herb2078, very well said mate, you got the point of 'us' SF's across expertly!
At 52 years of age I lost my Mom, it’s been about 2 years now and I still shed tears every once in awhile. I feel for dude losing his Mama so young.
I was priveliged to take 5 SBS guys on an RYA Day Skipper course (as pert of their annual experience/fun weeks). Imagine trying to teach SBS guys dinghy handling😅😅😅 Such a genuine, funny, straightforward bunch of guys.
I was on his snipes course with him… proper top bloke. I met up with him in Kanders as well, when he was living the SF dream and I was with 42. All the best to him!
Respect ✌ 🙏 ❤
Me too

These podcasts are absolute quality. Dodge gives everyone a great space to have a chat. Nothing confrontational, just great stories and some banter. ❤
Thanks 🙏
Staz was up at Fleet Protection Group RM while I was a Marine there too. genuine good guy. I remember his repack box (basically a coffin sized cardboard box with which you ship all your kit between postings and billets) it had his name and P0 number, and below one of the lads had written ‘STAZ’S STEROIDS’ typical Corps humour.
Haha, i was there then too, and in his recuit troop, he turned up to training an absolute beast. Lost most of the weight by week 10 but always the fittest in the troop by a mile
@@bennathan7353 yeah I went to lympstone @ 94kg. I left around 75kg. 3 lads from my tiny kings squad ended up going the SF route. All seems a very long time ago. Hope you’re well bro.
What you trying to say with that back handed complement..
Fazz Lane?
@@bennathan7353 HaHa who are you.. my reply was to Staz Steriods.. not Corps humour just back handed saying good lad but needed some help..
What this interview has made me think is: if I was with him, I think I could go further and harder than I ever could on my own. And that’s the difference between these fellas and the rest of us. Self motivation and true grit to push themselves onto the next job. What a great interview. Thanks for hosting
Kinky
My uncle was the commander at Faslane nuclear sub base in Glasgow (dead now). When I was a kid he took me on a tour of HMS Vanguard and Vigilante and as a young lad I thought it was so cool.
Staz is a testament to our military. Particularly our elite special forces. Nothing compares to the British special forces anywhere in the world. The most enthralling podcast on your list Dodge and they are all excellent. “Just doing my job” he says. So humble. Even after experiencing the most dangerous missions of deployment and coming out the other side with the highest of medals available, you would walk past this guy in the street and not even realise. Keep up the good work Dodge
*Im from Czechia, but I really liked this conversation between you gentlemen♥* *_He earned my respect, although he serves another country._*
Agreed, I really liked and enjoyed this conversation, too! I'm from Canada and I always enjoy hearing stories about Special Forces and Special Operations military units from around the world! Just like you said, he earned my respect, although he serves another country. I'm going to have start watching a lot more episodes from this podcast!
The best UK military interview I have ever listened to. Now playing for second time. More like this please Roger
💯
Could sit and listen to him talk about this for hours without opening my mouth haha, absolutely insanity the things these guys do for us, and most of them like he said think that these acts of selflessness are part of the job. Bow a head to the fallen, tip a hat to the ones still here, you guys are a breed apart. Thank you all for everything you do.
I love these guys too, but do you think these are really doing it for us? These guys thrive off what they do, I do not think they are thinking about us whilst doing what they do. Just saying, I respect these guys, I will never be half the man they are.
@@GrizzlyAdams101 either way you look at it, they get an order and at the end of the day every order they get in some way or another protects civs and the UK.

I've watched loads of these podcasts but can honestly say this is the best one I've ever seen, captivating from start to finish and told in an amusing and down to earth simplicity.
Wow I stumbled across this interview and I was gripped from start to finish. Thank you for your service ❤
My favourite interview so far Staz came across so well …very articulate funny and believable….good luck in all you do and thx for your service …top man
Total respect to all our Armed forces they do an amazing job keeping our country safe x
We are literally being invaded daily
@@bushwhackeddos.2703 Invaded how my question. I'm ex military myself served 7 years 16 regt 32 minden bty in my time I never knew Anthony had gone in the military but give sole gratitude to him I knew him from wen he was mansfield way sound lad awesome if anything just a very quick switched on person which I'll take from that very good person very switched person
They couldn’t keep us safe if it kicked off we have got hardly any people in the army compared to other countries. More Russians have been killed than there are people in the British army 😂
@@phillipseagrave9258invaded by illegal immigrants, one day they will be in the majority
Dodge, you have one of the best interview techniques on you tube by a country mile. Sensible, probing questions, but letting your guests tell their stories. I,m a big fan of your channel and working my way through all your fascinating podcasts with great range of interesting guests. Keep them coming
Kind words mate and glad you are enjoying the channel. Good man :-)
The most hilarious description of Selection I’ve witnessed. All of our SF are so well trained, and I think they are all excellent. Staz is one of the most interesting and entertaining ones I have watched and listened to. A real character. And clearly very intelligent and skilled. Glad it was available on KZhead. His descriptions of events are fascinating, and the descriptions of people, very funny. I rarely laugh out loud at something like this. But Dodge did, and I joined him! it was truly excellent. And mind blowing to hear such a first hand account of life within 3 Commando Brigade and the SBS. I think my favourite phrase was “a human highlighter”. 😂 Respect to you both. Thank you for the podcasts.
The stories are mad and he knows how to tell em. We definitely make the best of em
Blimey just amazing. These guys are something else. They think nothing of giving their lives to protect ours. Hats off to you Staz x
Thank-you for your service ,,,,,out of all the interviews i have seen with special services this stands out the most
What a guy!!!!!!! Could listen to him all day. Hes the apex male, absolute respect and honour to you. Best interview ive listened to for a long time
Great to hear of a fellow Wigan lad that has done well with his life. He's right about northern lads ending up on the south coast, happened to me too!
I’ve no interest in football, USA college soccer, fitness, the military, guns, marines, or snipers BUT this is a great interview with a brilliant storyteller and I was captivated the whole way through. Testament to the skills, intellect and charisma from both sides of the table. Thanks so much xx
Unbelievable man just like them all . He makes it sound as if it's so easy. RESPECT.
Amazing interview. Thank you for your service.
Staz my favourite SF interview by far! This guy needs to be on tv or write a book ect. What a man!
Glad you enjoyed 👍🏼👍🏼
Mate, watch Big Phil Campion, funny as f!#k mate.. But as a northerner, I really enjoyed this one.. Sadly, he tried to play for Fulham, which let his character down 😂
@@DaDaW9762agreed, big Phil’s episode was amazing also
An incredibly difficult job I imagine, no wonder it takes very special top calibre people, they all have my respect and gratitude ! Totally fascinating chat.
A likeable character. What a dude!
That was like watching a movie! From childhood through deployments with the SAS, freaking awesome story!
Seen this twice now, and it’s amazing insight to his life and the special forces. He really needs to get a book on the way. Will be watching “Truth behind SAS” after this
Brilliant interview, what a bloke Staz is, would love to buy that man a pint and listen to some more of his story! I'm new to the channel, have watched all the special forces interviews from start to finish, keep up the good work, really good stuff. Maybe get Staz back for round 2 and let's hear some more!?
Excellent interview, really interesting hearing his story. thank you both for this, really enjoyed this.
Thanks mate and glad you enjoyed it 💥👍🏼
Getting some what addicted to your channel. Another superb interview about a topic I wouldn't normally give much time to. So insightful and interesting. I particularly like how you let your guests speak without interruption. It's like you are chatting to a lifelong friend. Keep up the great work.
Lovely feedback PC and its one hell of a story STAZ has! Have a nice weekend 👍🏼👍🏼
@@DodgeWoodall Have a great weekend to Dodge.
Respect to this guys grandparents for moving and looking after him and his brother, Amazing commitment. These guys are the best of us. His mum was very young, same age as HRH Diana, wonder if he relates at all to Harry's problems.
Throughly enjoyed the podcast. Staz is a great storyteller and that hour went so quickly. Had me in stitches at times too
incredible story told so humbly hats off to these guys.
Came across your channel about 3 weeks ago and I'm so addicted , from the guests to the host, is amazing. thank you dodge keep up the good work mate .
Great interview! They really need to put him in another series of SAS Who Dares Wins.
When you live with grandparent/s they will never tell you they love you or show physical love but you will know in every other regard they truly love you and have your back no matter what
Fantastic interview 👏 great guy, thank you for your service 👍
What an impressive man he is!!! A tough start in life and he certainly turned it around and fully deserved that medal!!
no way this guy is local to me near mansfield, everyone still goes down the desert on crossers and 4x4’s , great interview what a guy!
What a listen that was ! Thanks for sharing gentleman , superb channel .
Really enjoyed this! 👏🏻 What a guy 💪🏻💪🏻
What an amazing interview. Real life hero 🖐
This guy is around my age. I was a trainee professional footballer too. After getting released from my contract I considered the Marines, with an outside view of a future in SF. In the end, I sat A-levels, got good grades and went to Oxford University. I had EXACTLY the same perspective as him that drove me. My mission in football failed but I desperately wanted to do something elite. I remember actually playing the army for the University football team once. Very good lads.
I suppose you see it as a missed opportunity then.
Probably played against a few lads that I played with. Used to play footy for the army.
As a civilian that always toyed with the idea of joining the military, I absolutely love listening to this type of stuff. Fascinating, cheers.
That was quality! Good work from you both. And big respect-just doing my job.
Superb interview, thanks to you both.
This guy had the fitness of an international footballer and if he was a sweeper, I imagine a natural engine. He was then best recruit in the Marines. With that background he still described full SAS selection as brutal. Puts it in perspective!
Did you do commando training with Staz?
i feel like sas selection would make marine training look like a walk in the park...
Great interview. Well structured, good pace and informative. Top stuff. 👍
What a bloke, such a great personality seems like a top man, very fucking funny indeed, I’ll be getting his book in November
Absolutely Brilliant Interview Thanks Mate.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome stuff Staz what a legend.

Shocking about his mum but I’m sure she’d be proud how he turned out, top man
Fascinating man, very articulate. What a sense of humour! Had me cracking up. Really enjoyed this mate, thank you.
Another great interview, a very humble but amazing man, thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
Down to earth normal bloke.. extraordinary bloke in fact!
This was an incredible, interesting interview. What a well spoken man. Great job
Really interesting, what a humble brave man Staz is.

What a podcast! What a guy Staz is, thank you for your service to our country, your a true testament to our military. Thank you brother. 👊🏼

Abrupt ending but great podcast, he gave a lot more insight into the SF then a lot of other SF guys.
Love how you went on to interview Toby after this. Another great interview, sat here at work rubbing filler down on the side of a car while listening along to these amazing lives if bloody brilliant.
Yeah Toby is one amazing human and thanks for your message 🙏

i watch a lot. i know all the channels. Im pretty impressed with your setup and your whole product run tbh. let them speak just a little bit more. you do fire the questions quite quickly one after the other. but its generally always in the right direction tbh. your my number one watch atm. pretty impressed with you.
Great video and what a great genuine guy
great interview 👍
I wasnt SF. However, can absolutely relate to Staz ref: R&R and that weird feeling of walking around town after being on ops. The normailty of life, was just alien to me. that was 30 Years ago, halfway through Grapple (Bosnia). Staz, you give an excellent account of yourself; engaging, articulate and instantly likeable. Good luck to you mate.
A very, well clear interview!
Great podcast. Motivated me for the day. Now I’m off to the pub!!
Utterly rivetting! Huge respect!
