(PLEASE READ) You probably made many people snap there front chassis apart. There are 3 screws under the TKL. The blue stands that lift the keyboard apart can be easily pulled out with your hand. So 2 screws hidden there. And one last screw under the do not remove sticker.
thank you for the advice, I haven't tried it but does this prevent from breaking clips? he got me a bit worried that id break clips opening it up.
First of all, thank you for the advice! But i have a question. Are those screws you're referring to present on the sf version too? Another thing i'd wish to hear you're advice on is the side caps. I tried taking off the side caps the other day and already struggled to "gently" remove it. If i used a tool to stab it into the case and try to lever it, I end up scraping the paint off of the plastic... What i ended up doing is sticking a screwdriver from inside the case (between the plate and front chassis) and pushed the side caps outward. It was a nightmare.... Since this is my first board and i'd like to use it for as long as possible. I would very much like to avoid snapping any legs off or damaging the case. Thanks in advance!
Amazing mod guide! This is my first keeb and i was super nervous to take the case apart in fear of breaking anything. One tip i have for people who are having difficulties and maybe sweaty hands like me is to use tools! I bought some cheap plying tools and just stabbed them in the side plates. Yes you might scrape the paint a bit, but it beats breaking any legs! As for the front plate, I also struggled a bit with it. The end solution was to use the prying tools to prod around and loosen the plate and used my hands to gently remove them. Once you get one of the legs out the rest comes off much easier. I used PE foam at the bottom and the holee mod and boy did it make a difference! I also swapped out the stock cherry brown for Leobog's Juggle tactile switches. Loving the feel and sound so far! Def recommend getting this board as an entry to the hobby, I learnt a lot through modding this and it sounds amazing!
These guides are amazing especially the Tecware phantom one cuz it was a very understated keyboard with no modding guides
Awesome mod guide man! They made a huge difference, I have the mini and modded it quite a bit but I didn't think of using orings! I put Durok smokey purples in mine and man it sounds/feels amazing.
Use your links and bought everything on the list. Some things were out on Amazon so I got alternatives. Can’t wait to get to work!
This is exactly why I go this board, you can slot it into other bases too! I like the color scheme but will inevitably get tired of it, that's when I can do this!
Thanks. Guess I'm glad to hear the Mini comes apart quicker. I put Akko Starfish in mine, $15 switches made me happier than the $120 board.
Your method is really to understand and it is clear than the other vid i've watched , appreciate that :3 .Thank ur tutorial
Amazing mod and great looking outcome for sure, I might do the exact same mod soon! I cant help but keep notice the light under the keyboard 12:20, what is that though ?
Just got this board a monthish ago. Love it to pieces. Found your video and did the bandaid mod, tried holymoding but haven’t gotten proper medical tape yet and got frustrated with bandaids, lubed and filmed all my cherry red silent switches, and finally got it back together. Holy smokes the physical ASMR of this board. I love it 😻 Now to troubleshoot my pc and get that back in order 🤦♂️😅🙃
good to hear the cherry red silent switches worked out
@@tbcq I hav me absolutely loved this keyboard since buying it. 100% worth mods too
@@FerrandaBEAR09 i'm thinking of modding it since my brown switches aren't cutting them, I have 2 black switches at home but I can't tell if they're silent black switches or regular black switches regardless the ones I have, they have a very smooth feel
My comparison are a ducky shine from 2017 and another from 2019 but comparatively this one 3 red switch is so quiet I'm just opting to leave it. I think theyve done a great job. My only gripe is the keycaps that came stock were not open enough to sufficiently light up the letters. I recycled some keycaps from my previous ducky and all is well now.
Thank you. It was really helpful. I I wouldn't have done it without this video.
Excellent guide, thank you ! Do you think 5ml of Krytox 205 G0 will be enough for a TKL modding ?
I just ordered this keyboard and am super excited to get it and try out these mods! I keep hearing about interference with cherry profile keycaps and north facing LEDs, is this not an issue here? Do they work here because of these specific switches?
This is an awesome guide, I am using the Ducky one 3 Aura and I was wondering how to disassemble the board. Thanks for this and the tips for Akko Switches because they are amazing switches price to performance wise. Keep up the good work!
Currently doing this but putting the PCB into my Mecha SF case! so excited
awesome content! been waiting for this!!!
I’m looking into buying the one 3 sf but I really want some shine through key caps for it… do you know where I can get some that might fit? I’m having some trouble finding them. Is the RGB bright enough so the legends are visible at night?
The link for the o-rings gives options for several different sizes, will you add specifically which size you recommend?
what do you think about heatshrink instead of the tape? they should work the same right?
just did tape mod for one 3 tkl and damn sound and feel was way better..such a easy mode as well .. can recommend
What size are the screws holding the pcb and silicone together
Not gonna lie, It is impressive how good the stock ducky is and it seems like the have done a lot to enable modding for enthusiast.
This is amazing! Thanks for the tutorial
If i do holee mod do i still need to wrap also or just choose one of the methods ? And since those new switches are not completely clear is the rgb lighting good as before or it gets worse ?
how thick in mm will the de-noise foam fit in maximum? so that it is comfortable and nothing is pressed down. and is it necessary to put painter's tape on the board, or is it enough to put the de-noise foam?
Do the Akku switches already have RGB ? BC your ducky keyboard had RGB but I'm thinking about getting the ducky one 3 matcha which has no led at all but I want it with rgb
Would you recommend also adding tape mod?
ok it just a keyboard however you have made the whole process rocket science . congratulations for your work and the detailed presentation
Underrated channel
10:08 How do you know when you've tightened it enough? I don't want to accidentally overtighten when I do this myself.
Do the keycaps have any interference because of the south facing switches?
Are the original cherry switches come with the board pre lubed?
Do you know if you can fit the hotswap pcb from the new mini into the mecha mini case?
I was always wondering but this is keyboard work with the akko keycaps with that weird shift key
Hi! I bought the ducky one 3 mini on OneofZero, bcs it doesn't work in MK, but I just received the keyboard and not the keycaps or switch puller.. Is it normal?
Is that medical tape a 3m transpore or durapore? Can you please let me know.
I've been using Ducky since 2012, and i get so happy seeing more and more people buy Ducky ! Best keyboards ever !
Any chance you can making a modding vid on the evga z15? Would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you! This was VERY useful
does the butol rubber in the bottom really made a difference :)
Thank you so much for this mod video! :)
oh my god. Sounds amazing. I am doing this exact build!!!!
Thank you, have fun doing it!
i would love to see a k599 mod guide wanna see what you do with it
Can you link the kind of butyl rubber and eva foam you use?
how do you upgrade the firmware? the instructions aren't really specific in what to do and I can't use the board without it
How do I open the sides? what was the tool you were using?
Where did you get your keycaps
Where do you find those custom cables.
Damn this as really good for a prebuilt, would be very interested if u build some higher end boards
What foam do you use? I cant find it in the description
Do you know if the Tofu 60% will fit the One 3 Mini 60?
YOO cunsumer i have asked this question to u once and i wanna make sure u see it srry btw if i ask u alot of questions on to the question should i get the rk84 or the nb681
Is the Redragon k617 Fizz wireless?
I got the black edition, I initially bought the daybreak mini and then I wasn't satisfied without the arrow keys. I opted to switch to the black edition and swapped to the SF. To my surprise, the exact same switches were already pre lubed in this board and so the stabilizers felt so much better. I recently found out that this black edition is almost a year newer compared to any daybreak edition.
wdym i got the new black one too and the switches are not lubed at all, theyre stock + ducky doesnt make switches to factory lube them
I prefer the original caps. I reckon they look really good.
What would be better, a modded gk61 or modded ducky keyboard?
You really just blast through the dissassembly here. We need more details about defeating the clips. My fresh keyboard did NOT just pull apart. I had top really nput some muscle in intelligently to not break anything. I didn't end up following you at all as there wasn't really anything to follow. Rest of the mods were good though so thanks for that.
Can you review the Koi61 budget keyboard? Seriously. Its so much better than the RK and GK61 for a lot cheaper
Can someone please tell me if I can just buy any MX cherry brown switches for a ducky 3 TKL.
love those keycaps
sounds great looks great to. Gave a like
You should do longer sound tests
can you do 2 keyboard rivew and mod guid pls? they are: 1.capture kt87 . 2.gopolar gg86 taichi barebone kit. you can get both in ali express or taobao
Hi. Im planning to get ducky one 3 mini. Is it worth it lubing the mx switches? So confused on different types of switches
I've heard that the scratchiness of the Cherries doesn't totally go away even with lubing. I'm thinking about trying the Gateron Silver Pro dual springs in mine.
Is a tapemod worth on the ducky?
Thank you for this.
How much was the modding in all?
I admire the effort you put into this, and the keyboard probably sounded really nice afterwards... but why do keyboard makers leave this to us
Doe you know how much room there is inside the case ? Would it fit a pi400 pcb under the keyboard pcb ? ? Sizes are 50mm x 226mm max height is 12mm
Bro do you know if this keyboard works on ps4-5
BRO I LOVE YOUR VIDS. I WANTED TO SEE IF YOU CAN PUT AKKO SWITCHES ON THE REDRAGON K530 PLEASEEE
He did put the akko cs switches into redragon k530 in a video called ultimate mod for budget mechanical keyboard
Yes you can
Love the look of it. But after watching tons of key board reviews and mods I have to say the sound stuff is lost on me. I don’t hear much of a difference in sound. And all that work too. Plus I have my headset on lol…. So probably will never do the sound mods. But the key caps and paint were cool
great video bro
can u do top ten switch?
If you need to choice, what for you is better? Ducky One Three SF or the Akko 3068B Black & Pink
Akko is half a price of Ducky yet it can do what Ducky can and even better than Ducky imo.
the akko is infitely better lmao
I'm waiting to see if Ducky is gonna drop any more colorways for the SF but instead of the foam at the bottom I'm gonna do the silicone mod. I already ordered some Boba U4's!!
They finally started shipping their all white and all back colorway units! Might take a bit to see them in stock outside Taiwan but they pretty much sold out of the first all Black batch immediately
Pls do a review of a glorious model o or a model d
can u do an longer sound test? min on monkeytype would be dope
why is the keycap white at the end of the video
Hello. you never said what 1/? inch or mm the added foam should be. Can I ask what you used?
It's mm btw :D.
Can you just take the stabilizers out without taking the board apart if you only want to lube them?
yes it depends what stablizers you have man
where is the desk from?!
Question 1: How did you know the keycap set had a compatible right shift key? It's a weird size shift key with a stabilizer, the two MT3 profile sets I have from Drop (Cyber and Dasher) do not have a right shift that fits this board. How do I find more keycap sets that have the right shift key for this board? Question 2: I keep hearing about interference issues using cherry profile with north facing LEDs, and I noticed the ones you have linked are cherry profile and the board is definitely north facing. Guessing you didn't run into any issues, or you probably would have mentioned it. I guess this also relates to my 1st question Loved this video, your case and stab mods worked out great. I don't wrap the bars in tape, is a little too tight for my personal taste when I've tried it before. And I hate lubing switches, lol. Done it twice now, and I hope to never do it again. Waiting for some Kailh box whites to ship, which I hear don't need to be lubed, and absolutely love the self lubing switches from my last build (NK blueberries, which are pretty much tactile creams, in a Mysterium v2)
IDK if it's too late, but I've asked around and learnt that for the Ducky one3 sf, the right shift key is a 2U size while the right alt, fn are both 1U. The 1U shouldn't be too hard to find, but the 2U right shift is what's tricky. Make sure to ask the seller if possible to see if they offer that size. I bought the razer PBT keycapes recently (for the neon green), and had to use the big 0 on the numpad as a makeshift right shift. It's not ideal, but hey, all for the esthetics lol As for the LEDs, i think first you need to make sure what type of LED the board is using (is it flat or protruding), then i think you can better make sure if the switches would fit or not. I'm still new to the hobby, but these are just some of the info i've gathered so far.
what sized screw driver
im so exited to get my one 3 sf with cherry mx blue ima put on some gateron black inks
That's going to sound fantastic! Highly recommend tape modding it if you're comfortable taking the case apart. Black inks + tape mod = fantastic sound!
I liked the sound better stock tbh
nice!! we have the same keycaps hehe
Please do the drop carina next
i cant get the stabilizers back in and im freaking out someone help please
will gateron milky yellows fit in to this keyboard?
I believe so. I am using the Gateron Black Ink V2 on this board and they fit fine.
Help, please. I tried to replicate everything you did on the video, and after I put it all back together, I noticed some switches stoped worked. did you had the same issue and had to purchase new ones?
You most likely bent the pins on some switches. Take the switches out that aren’t working and check if the pins are bent. If they are try using needle nose pliers to bend them back and put them back in. Hope this helps!
Would have really appreciated a more in depth part about putting back in stabilizers I put them on the wrong way which is my fault I know and am going to have to find a new video on how to do it right great vid though
this is more like a tutorial on how to break the clips around the case :D
You should use dinokeys mint linear soon
dam what color i that desk/table i want one similar to that desk/table haha
12:00 The part we really want to see.... Or should I say to hear
kinda sad to see that they still cheaped out on foam and sound dampening even on the One 3 :/ so foam modding is already like required sadly... should have done that to my One 2 back then instantly..
I have 60 Bucks for a keyboard wich keyboard should you recommend?
none
What size are the o rings?
This is the most important part and yet it was omitted
man im curious can i do holy and wrap it or no?
No definitely would make the stabs not work, either holee mod it or wrap it. I would say holee modding is worth it over wrapping if you want to spend the time. Hope this helps!
@@ConsumerTechReview it does thanks
