Ward adjusted and got better in the later rounds yes, but that doesn't mean he adjusted and won all the later rounds. He did better, yes, 'better', but not outscoring.

His fans all said, he'll get it done by KO, Kovalev himself said, he should prove himself he's the Krusher, and knock him out. He had 12 rounds & even if he had 30 rounds. He FAILED to do that. Again, Kov at his best day can't KO Ward at his worst. Rematch will show. Ward UD. This time everyone will see. SOG, 32-0, Krusher 30-2.

Judges had the close later rounds for Ward. Just ONE more knockdown in a Ward rounds, and Kovalev would have won, but he didn't. Kovalev already did his best, and if you know Ward, you'll know he did way better before. Rematch will be the exact same result. But not 114-113, more like 115-113, 116-112ish.

The reason Kovalev was holding Ward was because Ward was the one always initiating the clinch and trying to get on the inside with that sneaky strategy. Sergey was having none of that and so we saw him negate it with the headlock type holds. Kovalev would always raise his arms to show the ref that it was Ward still clinching.

In order to take the champion's belt away, the contender have to clearly show the world that he definitely did something specially good against the champion. At least that's what I have seen in the past. I didn't see that in this fight. Kovalev was coming forward with bad intentions and hit the hardest to the point of putting Ward down. Once Ward felt Kovalev's punching power from both that jab in the 1st round and that counter right in the second, he turned into a one arm boxer both punching and grabbing. He often threw 1 punch with no real combinations except maybe in the 11th round? Ward was the recipient of an early Christ mas present. In my humble opinion he didn't do enough to convince me that he indeed defeated and unanimously...? the champion of the world.

Kovalev connected more punches and scored a knock down. Yes, many rounds were very close, but BECAUSE they were so close, those two factors should have led to Kovalev winning. Whenever there were any toss-up rounds, the judges just gave it to the American. I haven't been salty over a decision since the Pacquiao/Bradley fight. Kovalev by no means dominated, but he clearly won.

All my years watching boxing and being in boxing I can call it out the way it is I don't care what nationality, what color, or race if you're going by points and the science of boxing you know that Ward was clinching and running but he did not win. I can give him maybe three rounds but that's a disgrace just like the other fighter who's a Colombian who lost to a hometown fighter but everybody is entitles to there opinion but I think everybody who saw this fight worldwide knows that this is a disgrace not just to boxing fans now but to the great legends of the past.

I'm the biggest boxing fan there is, but it's disappointing that judges are killing the sport this way. It's one of the main reasons why the UFC has grown tremendously in the past few years, the fans are tired of seeing bogus decisions. I hope there is a rematch and Kovalev knocks him out. I mean any one who has a some knowledge in the sport will know that Kovalev had nothing else to prove, He even went 12 rounds with Ward. When I personally thought if it went to score cards it would've been dangerous for Kovalev, but even with that in mind I did not feel any doubt at the end of the fight that Kovalev had won. The most you can give ward is 3 MAYBE 4, this is just sad. Andre Ward should bust a ROCKY and fight the man in RUSSIA for free. Lol

From the promoters and including some fighters, but the one thing I expect is at least fairness in the judges. Plus it's the only aspect of the sport that the fans get to see openly, therefore they should be aware of that and not give the sport a bad look. I had the fight 112-115 in favor of Kovalev. Add to this the knockdown in round two and it's preety clear Kovalev got robbed. I thought Ward would school Kovalev, but in round 1 it was clear that Ward would not be able to dominate Kovalev. Sad ending to a great fight. Smdh

If you listen to Max Kellerman in the very first round Max laments how "Ward is doing all this fine work and Kovalev can negate that with just one punch".... I hadn't a clue what Max was talking about regarding "all that fine work Ward was doing". My lying eyes saw Ward doing very little except moving away from Kovalev, that was it. Very strange take on the fight from the opening bell. This fight reminds me of the announcing during Mayweather and Pacman. The announcers kept telling the audience how Floyd was dominating Manny and yet once again my lying eyes saw a boring fight where both fighters adopted the role of counter puncher. Yet in that boring fight with no knockdowns Floyd is given the decision and in this fight the lesser fighter was given the nod, with the pundits affirming it.
Jack Johnson Max is a total dick. He was saying shit like that when Kovalev was kicking ass.
Darren MacWhirter Max did not quite have the balls to claim a Ward victory so he continued to describe the fight as "close" and could go "either way". I just didn't see Ward doing much of anything. I also enjoy how the media has boxers like Paulie M. interviewed right after the contest so they can spread further propaganda. Paulie was telling the audience "how deep" Ward's skills/tactics were, in fact it was "so deep" you couldn't understand what Paulie was talking about(egro-what Ward was doing to win the fight) unless you had been a professional fighter. Here is how I saw it "Ward didn't want to get his ass knocked out so he used all that skill to survive the 12 rounds" But never did Ward turn the fight around, never.
I agree. Ward came back stronger in the second half of the fight, but Kovalev had an answer every time he [Ward] tried to flurry. I think Ward got about 4 rounds, that's it.

No offense to these reporters, but you can't just throw random questions at the man. I take my hat off to boxers, me when I get sick I don't want to talk to people, but these fighters after taking some solid shots are still able to answer these questions and this is truly amazing.

Why is everyone saying this is such a robbery? This was a close fight but from round 4 ward was more and more comfortable. Kovalev was applying pressure but landing next to nothing on ward. Really don't see the uproar.

It was close but saying they cheated for Ward is w/e. I would've thought he would have won by split decision and not a unanimous 1 point win, it is what it is .He fought the way he had to and it was beautiful. They didn't give it to him he earned it.

Kovalev won the first half but got winded in the late stages of the fight. The only solid and consistent punches he landed was the Jab and 1 right hand per Rd. He started opening up and was getting tag with hooks to the body which count as power punches and left hooks to the head. He only threw one maybe too noticeable body shots the entire fight so I can see why Andre got the UD.
If ward got a knock down or dominated any one round I would agree, but that didnt happen

after rewatching the fight a few times I change my scoring from Kov by 1 point or Draw. to Ward by one point or Draw. Kov fell asleep after the 4th. I have Ward rounds 4,5,7,8,9,11,12. Maybe round1 as well.
