Straight away i was amazed how good an actor Tadanobu is. Looked him up and he has been in quite some movies i enjoyed over the years! The whole cast is pretty amazing actually.
He did amazing in Mongol Rise of Khan too
He also played the role as Genghis Khan in the movie MONGOL and also in ZATOICHI
Hogun in Thor, Raiden in Mortal Kombat. There I added it for you

Out of this world performance
There’s literally not one bad character in the show. Fuji and Yabushige ended up being two of my favorites. Ishido was played brilliantly too. Can’t say enough about this show

He’s probably more comfortable speaking Japanese.
He speaks english really well. I watched him performing perfect in Scorsese's Silence 2016, Battleship, and other movies. I think he just likes to speak in japanese during interviews.
Japanese actors went from mostly unable to speak english, to be able to direct a serial with an english speaking crew. The only legit way to be fluent in English, is to work with english speaking people.
