There are a few men who've succeeded in changing the course of an entire club, and Silvio Berlsuconi is one of these men. Under the controversial Italian, the Rossoneri was able to write their own successful history in the world of Italian, European, and international football. He brought in talents, stars, titles, geniuses, joy and sadness. This is the story of AC Milan in the era of Silvio Berlsuconi.
This episode will cover where Milan was prior to Berlusconi’s acquistion of the club which will cover a brief on Milan’s status in the 60’s and 70’s, the Totonero Scandal, and their trips to Serie B. Then will start with Silvio’s early decisions, Sacchi’s arrival and the Dutch trio. The European cup success. The battle with Napoli and the dissension internally with Sacchi. Capello’s undertaking and domestic history. Silvio’s focus on politics and Galliani’s management and the fall before the rise in the early 2000’s which coincided with Ancelotti’s arrival and huge investment in the team which brought domestic and European success. The 2005 final and how they managed to get one last season out of their old guard to deliver one last Champions League trophy in 2007.

Naturally, I wanted the underdog to win and Milan certainly didn't disappoint. They won 4-0 and I've been a faithful fan ever since. • As a fan of football, history, and film, I can truly say that there is no entity on this planet that can compete with the masterpieces you create! The quality of your videos FAR surpasses the content of multibillion dollar media outlets. The level of detail down to the tactical analysis, the storytelling ability to immersively follow a team's timeline, the way you interweave the plots of different videos with each other, even the visuals like including newspaper headlines, quotes, and formations... And when it comes to setting up the moment? The grand finale? No one does it better. I always feel as if I'm reliving the moment, even for moments I wasn't alive for/never even witnessed. I simply cannot get enough of how special you are at making these videos, and you deliver EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. You are in a world of your own, and I hope we as fans can continue to enjoy your art for years to come!

  • I was at the stadium when Napoli played against Atalanta and Alemao was "injured" by the coin. If you watch the TV images you can clearly hear Salvatore Carmando, Napoli massage therapist, saying "buttati in terra" (get on the ground, get on the ground!) to Alemao who wanted to keep playing and didn't look injured at all. That's what made Berlusconi furious when Napoli was awarded the 2-0 win. One thing I remember about those years was the amount of coins thrown by entire stadium when Napoli came to Bergamo, at the end of the games coins were everywhere, "paving" the area below the stands and some fans rushed to collect them back with full hands. Anyway, my compliments, great video and great knowledge of Serie A!

I dont think we have seen a better collection of players to marshall a backline since the Milan team of the late 80s and early 90s. Franco Baresi, Alessandro Costacurta, Mauro Tassotti and Paolo Maldini. Whats ironic is that Milan was never considered a "defensive" side even though they had an all time great backline. Thats how great Milan was as a team.

    @tashrif46@tashrif467 ай бұрын
    • You’re right about the best backline ever but I don’t agree that ACM was never considered as defensive side, especially by the legend of (ultra-attacking minded) Johan Cruyff. He spoke pretty arrogant and ugly about Milan before UCL final in 1994. His words motivated the Rossoneri even more and they’ve kicked Barca’s ass like no one before (caused him an incurable scars on his soul). The signs of this serious trauma were so hard that he spoke bad things, not just about ACM but Italian football in general, most notoriously during the all Italian UCL final in 2003, when he said: “UEFA should not award the prize, this is not football!”, like it was the first ugly final ever (which is not true). One more Dutch legend (Ruud van Nisterlooy) was completely shocked by the Milan’s defense, and he said: Well, Italian defenses are known for their defending, you know. They are horrible to play against, honestly. It’s like they don’t even wanna go forward because it’s a risk of scoring for the other team. They all stay behind… You can’t score. That’s the most important thing.”

It wonderfully narrates the best historical facts I’ve lived at an early age in the beginning of the 90s. That shift between Sacchi and the good old Capello is regarded one of the greatest periods in football modern history at clubs level. • Thank you for this incredible video for the most iconic team in the world. Oh my god . I couldn't remember how many legendary players played for this enormous club. The Berlusconi era changed completely for me Italian and the European football. Grazie Presidente for all this unforgettable years . Forza Milan ❤️🖤

  • First off all, what a best video you made, but it's so sad that Berlusconi had passed away 4 months earlier (several days after Manchester City won the Treble at Istanbul). There are important things you mentioned here regarding this video: 1.The Bosman system also changed an European football a lot. Although bigger clubs in Europe had a better performance with the presence of best foreign players, it also reduced chances of several clubs outside England, Spain, Italy, or Germany to have a full potential of becoming the greatest. Had this system didn't implemented, it might be exciting to see clubs from France, Portugal, and Netherlands to win the Champions League. Even Lyon in 2000s were destined to have more success. 2.The Calciopoli also destroyed the Italian Football. Inter Milan's 2010 Treble proved to be the last time a Serie A club managed to win the Champions League, although in the last season, there are 3 Italian clubs playing in the 3 different European Finals. National team of Italy also affected. Even though the European Championship was still good, reaching the 2012 Final and even winning it in 2020, the World Cup was a different story. They failed to play in the last 2 editions after losing the playoffs (2018 and 2022). 3.You also mention the English dominance in the Champions League, when 3 PL clubs did progressed to the semifinals of 2006/07. Between 2005 and 2009, England had at least 1 clubs featuring in the Final, but they only won twice. The 2007/08 was the best campaign of the Premier League in the Champions League, with 4 PL clubs reaching the quarterfinal and Manchester United and Chelsea produced the first all-English Final at Moscow. Both sides had almost made the rematch in Rome 2009, if not a Stamford Bridge Scandal was truly happened. Chelsea's 2012 triumph at Munich marked the end of the dominance, and PL clubs didn't dominate again until 2019. Between 2019 and 2023, PL won three times in the Champions League and there were 2 all-English Finals in 2019 and 2021. I hope this dominance will continue again when Wembley hosted the penultimate stage of this season on June 1, 2024.

    • When Italy dominates in CL it's usually with a lot of Italian player and coach's, when English teams dominate its always with 11 foreigners and a foreign coach, but their media and fans brag as it it's their local talents, example Pep and De Bruyne or Klopp and Salah. These are all exported talents, Milan and Inter had enough Italians to be proud of their achievements locally

    • @@blaquenguni9249 I think this is the main reason why England had always been a great underachievers when it comes to success in clubs and national team. The lack of playing experience for the local players in Premier League also contributed to their national team's underachieving performances in major tournaments (Euro and World Cup). Bundesliga and La Liga also achieved big success in Europe with a lot of local players and coaches, which also controbuted to the national team's performances. When Spain had dominated the world football in 2008-2012, they had some players from Barcelona that also dominated the world football under Pep Guardiola. When Germany achieved success in world football stage, most of the local players were from two successful clubs in the country, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The 2014 World Cup squad in Brazil that won the tournament had some players from Bayern and BVB, who were featured in the 2013 Champions League Final at Wembley.

Thank you for producing something at this high level. This reflects the football I fell in love with as a child during the Maradona years: art, philosophy, drama and history all perfectly balanced.

  • I sometimes wish that football go back to the days of the 80s and 90s. Where only the champions of a certain league and the winners of the European Cup will get into the following seasons's European Cup. And that 2nd and 3rd place teams in the league would go to the UEFA Cup and the domestic cup winners who didnt get those two other qualifications, would get into the Cup Winners' Cup. That way all the European trophies would be strong and prestigious rather than now where everyone wants to be in the Champions League and call the other competitons irrelevant. Back then peoole took pride in winning a UEFA Cup or a Cup Winner's Cup because they were playing great sides to win it. Now they are playing 5th or 7th best teams in the top divisions. And also the foreign players quota helped some national teams to develop their own players through clubs

  • One thing you forgot to mention about the 1994 CL Final; Because of the 3 non-nationals rule, Cruyff decided to not play Michael Laudup in the final (ironically, his brother, Brian, did not play for Milan in the final either, something that obviously would had been historic), something that Capello noted after the match when he said that Michael was the only player on Barça that he feared coming into the match. Would the Final would had been different if he would've been able to play? We'll never know. Love your videos!

    • The Bosman system eliminates this old rule, but this resulted in what was called the boring Champions League. With each European clubs being able to sign as many foreigners as possible, clubs outside England, Spain, Italy, or Germany couldn't challenge for becoming the greatest.
