What do you know about Astana ? yes, it’s the Capital city of Kazakhstan, it's extremely cold during winter and windy every season, as well you might also know that it was renamed many times from Astana to Nur-sultan then by Astana again.
However, did you realize that Astana has only served as our capital city for the past 25 years? And it was built in the middle of nowhere. Astana, a city made entirely of shining metal and glass that seems to have suddenly grown from the Kazakh steppe, then appears out of nowhere. The video that I'd like to share today is a 24-hour journey across Astana's main touristy points. That’s why come along with me, let’s explore Astana.

  • Kazakhstan🇰🇿 is very beautiful ❤️, for me the best time to visit Astana is in winter❄️🌨️, because I love skiing⛷️. I'm very used to the cold. Almost all year round in my country🇨🇦 it is cold and that gives me time to ski.

  • I was in Astana last year 2022 in September for 5 days. I actually rented an apartment where you were in the beginning of the video, same exact location apartment buildings. Let me tell you how cheap it is to rent a good size apartment that was basically brand new! The cost of staying an apartment compared to the US, is so amazingly cheap that alone I would want to visit Astana again. I walked everyday in the same area where you walked in the video. During my time in September, the weather was perfect. Not too hot not too cold. You mention it gets windy all the time, but during my 5 days I was there, it wasn't windy at all. The thing I like about the most about Astana, is how peaceful the place is. I can see it being a great place to raise a family there. On the weekend and even on the weekdays, there were a lot of families in the park spending quality time together. Which you don't really see in the US. Food is also cheap there. You mentioned expensive area where the Georgian Kitchen restaurant was, but the price when I went to that restaurant was not bad considering how good the food was. As a person that needs to have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, it was difficult for me to find a coffee shop. I wouldn't say difficult, but a little distance aways from my rented apartment. Closest Starbucks was at the tent mall, aka Hanshatar. You mentioned Coffee Boom was in every corner, but I never seen any Coffee Boom coffee shop during my 5 day stay there. I would loved to have tried it though. What is interesting about Astana is you have to do quite a bit of walking to get to one building, to another building. Buildings are tall and big here, not to mention, new and very modern. If you ever have the chance to visit Kazakhstan, and Almaty is one of your destinations, I would highly suggest visiting Astana as well. See and notice the vast difference between the two cities. Although Almaty felt more of a city that has history behind it, meaning it's a lived in city, Astana has it's own uniqueness of a new, and up and coming modern city that you should definitely experience.

  • 7:00 What do you think of Latinized Kazakh? Do the orthographic rules make more or less sense than the Cyrillic rules? Your writing has already changed once from the early Arabic script to Cyrillic. Perhaps changing it again may cause younger generations to lose access to lesser-known facts about your nation's recent history and less popular literature -- someone would have to transliterate everything to the new Latin script for new generations to understand anything from the 19th or 20th century.
