Also messi and ronaldo are one of the most consistent players ever, they played and are still playing at a top level for 15 years. And i still dont understand what is this favoritism for the oldest players, just because they played in the past doesnt mean they are better than the players nowadays. During those years you could see him playing in so many places on the pitch. He would show up stealing a ball in defense and making a fast run to give an assist to a goal. He was like a superplayer in a superman kind of way.

I think it's nice to see that in today's football, with all the modern player academies and schools, we don't have a single player who even comes close to the talent and passion of this man. He will remain the best striker forever. Generation to generation. Everyone will know this name and watch the videos and think, "How the hell is that possible"? He has brought football to a level that is still unreachable to this day. I am happy and honored at the same time that he played in my childhood. This man will be a legend forever. I was 6 when I watched the '98 world cup, my first time watching an international level football tournament. And I fell in love with this man's game....He was just phenomenal!! No wonder they called him 'o fenomeno'. I'm a huge Messi fan and I really respect CR7. They're legends of the game. But this man was just in a wholly different league of his own! It is really heartbreaking what a series of injuries did to his career. CR7 is a mental beast, a goal scoring machine, incredible strength and shot making with a right leg to die for. But he lacks dribbling skills, artistic touches and can't create chances out of nowhere. Messi is a game-maker, incredible dribbler, left foot God & artistically skilled!! But his height prevents him from being a good header and he lacks strentgh - both physical and mental (sometimes). But here's the thing. R9 had the strength of a bull, could do magic with both feet, could score from heads, could score from half chances, could dribble like no other, could create chances himself & assist others, didn't need an extraordinary team to perform his best & most importantly he had supreme mental strength. On one-to-one encounters, he was feared by all goalkeepers and defenders. He was their nightmare!! He was incredibly agile and lethal! He was simply too good than the rest of the field sometimes. I've always felt that nature creates a balance to sustain life. He was too good may be, hence nature gave him injuries to balance out his talent! It's sad, but also his comebacks have made his legacy even better I suppose. Players will come and go, but R9 will always be my fave football player of all time. He's the man who made me fall in love with this beautiful sport! ❤

For Messi you are right for the mental, it's not his advantage. But his physic and his strenght aren't problems, they are advantages. Messi is a player who is very tough to knock down even the strongest defender, because of his strenght, wich gives to him a very good balance. So, with his talent with the ball, playing with head isn't an obligation for him. And he prefer give the center to someone who will score with head, or go in front of the box in shoot position, he isn't a real 9 like Ronaldo.

I think you are short changing him on his ball control. His first touch and trapping skills were second only to Zidane in my opinion, possibly better given he always put himself in scoring position. you can argue that his ability to control the ball at full speed is the best of all time.

But I guess you right, I could pump it upto 95 probably. Its a weird mix with this guy, inside the penalty box, his touches were only second to Bergkamp of his generation and would convert them into goals with insane creativity and accuracy but outside of the danger zone, he would half ass both his touches and passes in almost a funny manner.

Randy Marsh I have seen Ronaldo play during his time at AC Milan & Corinthians. He was horrible, overweight, slow & had no dribbling abilities. He was a one dimensional goal scorer who’s only trick was waiting in the penalty box to tap in his teammates’ passes. He had no skills, no dribbling & no creativity. In his entire career he was overweight & untalented. I don’t understand why he gets all the hype as one of the greatest, he was really nothing special. Legends like Ronaldinho & Zidane carried him to glory, Ronaldo on his own was nothing. He struggled to make an impact playing for Inter Milan during his so called “peak years.” Serie A at the time was the least competitive & lowest level league in the world, yet he still struggled to be a difference maker for his team. The defenders he faced were so bad: Ayala, Maldini, Desailly, Nesta, Mihajlovic, Ferrara, Thuram, Cannavaro, Koeman, De Boer & Cafu, they all lacked quality in their defensive game yet Ronaldo could barely take advantage of his easy opposition. Ronaldo will forever go down as one of the most overrated players of all time. He didn’t do anything significant for his clubs & country.

After watching more of his highlights, i've realised that he shouldn't exist as a player. He puts Fifa Custom Mode players into shame. He has attributes of multiple legends. Messi's dribbling, Cristiano's shooting, Thierry Henry's explosive pace etc. No wonder he's called El Fenomeno.
I think one of the reasons that made the olden days player very awesome is passion. they play the game with hearts and souls, they play for the love of it and there clubs/nations. Now players only play for money.

What a time, i was born in 1999 and never was a soccer fan, but I feel so nostalgic about it and admire so much the late 90s and early 2000s, I literally think that was peak civilization. Where just about everything (the economy, soccer, cars, music, technology, etc and life overral) was good enough and not dystopic like any other period in time (especially nowadays). For me the craziest part about it it's that he do all of this being a striker, usually when a striker have too much hability he have a bad finishing and when have good finishing is more "old school" and only score goals, Ronaldo could do both with mastery

For me the Greatest of all time. And I tell you why: He had rotten knees and problems since he was 17, doctors of clubs he played were always concerned. Imagine if this guy was healthy throughout his career…only imagine.. He managed to be the best of the world even with busted knees.
I’m older than the majority of the persons commenting this video, I saw Maradona, Baggio, Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Cristiano and Messi playing, and trust me, nobody comes close to Marco Van Basten. I realise football was different at that time, but he was an outstanding player like nobody else. Even Maradona, considered by the majority the best player of all times, after losing the key match Napoli-Milan when Van Basten scored 2 goals, he said: “without injuries he would have become the greatest player of all times, even better than me. I have never seen someone with such an elegance”. And trust me, the elegance he had when he touched the ball and his vision of the game is absolutely unique. He had won 3 ballon d’ors by the age of 28, and if it wouldn’t have been for the injuries we would probably talking about the footballer with the most ballon d’ors of all time, and I’m sure I don’t have to remind you which other players were playing in the late 80s and 90s...

You can say ronaldo is better skills wise because wow,but ronaldo and messi not getting serious injuries isn't a fluke they work really hard to keep their body's in peak form which is apart of sports for example compared 34 year old cristiano to 34 year old ronaldo. physically fit wise there's a big difference
