IBEX are DYING ☠️: Can Scabies Infection Be Stopped Before It's Too Late?
In this video we talk about the importance of managing the population control, specially when there is a disease like Scabies, and how we are doing it through hunting. Not an easy solution, but proper herd management and control is crucial everywhere.
My friend Dakota and I hunt nannies and discover first hand how bad the situation really is.

Yes they do, specially females, males only get to 14/16 years old, females can get above 20.

Do you remove the infected skin from the area? I would think leaving it would increase infection through scavengers?
Los carroñeros en especial el buitre y demás aves tienen unos jugos gástricos capaces de acabar con cualquier bacteria o virus, simplemente están adaptados.
@@sabarita9679My Spanish is bad, I'm sorry. I think you are saying scavengers guts would destroy the disease. Scabies is caused by mites, would they not infect their skin while feeding?
We try to remove them from the area when posible, if not hide it away from animals as much as posible. Although the scabies is so stablished that there isn’t a way to stop it properly. Many of them are doting naturally every day.

Aquí sí que puede ser más interesante la labor de lobos o incluso linces, ya que los individuos más debilitados por la sarna (que no hayan generado inmunidad) serán bastante más proclives a ser depredados. Nosotros como cazadores no realizamos la selección natural de las poblaciones con la misma eficacia
Lobos linces zorros todos cogen la sarna también por lo que no se regula tampoco con ellos, se propaga incluso más, por otro lado un cazador que paga miles de euros por cazar un animal de estos no va gastarselo en cazar un animal sarnoso, cosa que es lógica, el cazador parece que se ha convertido en el guardián de las tierras del agricultor, y en el salvador del ecosistema, todo esto perdiendo dinero cosa que no tiene sentido, si la administración pagase al cazador ya verías si la caza controlaba la sarna o no
Que se sepa y reconozca, la proliferación de la sarna en la cabra montés es exclusivamente debido al excesivo número de ejemplares que propician los gestores y comerciantes de caza. Luego la solución no está en la caza, sino al contrario en la no caza (otro interés y otra gestión diametralmente opuestas)..
Sergi, Lo que cazan o no en los cotos lo marca la administración, no los gestores de los cotos. Te recomiendo que eches un ojo al estudio de la cabra montes de ARTEMISAN, estuve en las jornadas que hicieron y fueron muy interesantes. Lo de no cazar no es una postura que esté tomando ningún grupo de actuación a nivel nacional, no hablo de cotos si no en parques y reservas también. Saludos!
