Pandas only have the ability to care for one baby at a time. So when a panda gives birth to more than one, most likely the other baby will die. In captivity, caretakers alternate the babies so that both get to be hand fed and raised by the mother. They would switch the baby without alerting the mother so she wouldn't notice. I remember watching a thing on it a while back.

Their explanation is that the male Hippo dont want to take care of a child that is not from them and the mother Hippo cant bear another child if they already have one. In captivity, caretakers alternate the babies so that both get to be hand fed and raised by the mother. They would switch the baby without alerting the mother so she wouldn't notice. I remember watching a thing on it a while back.

Their explanation is that the male Hippo dont want to take care of a child that is not from them and the mother Hippo cant bear another child if they already have one. So, the only solution for the male Hippo to have an offspring from that female hippo is to just kill the baby Hippo. The mother tries to protect its child tho, but the male hippo always succeeds...
