  • I love what you said about that buzzard. I hate the misconception people often have about buzzards. The birds they are calling buzzards are usually vultures. Buzzards prefer carrion but unlike vultures, buzzards are perfectly capable of hunting and killing their own food. The talons of buzzards are not as sharp as those of an eagle, but they are sharp enough to kill and hold prey.

  • Interesting that the cane toads were actually imported on purpose, but were then found to be a problem. The same thing happened in the US with carp. They were brought in because it was thought they would clean up algae in a sluggish river during a dry season. They thrived in the new environment, and overwhelmed the native fish population. Learned about it when I saw a video by Tom Scott about how there's a river in Chicago with a portion of it electrified, because they're trying to make sure the carp don't get to the Great Lakes.

    • Best solution to cane toads is a water and real Dettol mix. 1/3 Dettol to 2/3 water. Have this in a plant mister. Set the mister to jet spray, squirt the toads and they are dead in less than a second with no dead toad smell either.
