  • Boycott the supermarkets and buy direct if you can. 🙏🏽

  • Well said my friend. Maybe more farmers should be highlighting their problems with the supermarkets more often on social media and get the truth out there. These large companies seem to spend more time checking social media as they know how fast negative publicity can travel.

  • Supermarkets are too powerful. Whatever happened to the Egg Marketing Board? Im not sure if that was a good or bad thing, but it seems the farmers need a way of collectively facing the supermarkets to keep the supply chains steady abd negotiate the prices.

  • There's not enough Farmer's Markets and I've noticed many have dwindled and even vanished, what's going on there? There are some larger market areas like my local Preston where i haven't seen a fresh grocery stall outside the indoor market. There's plenty of space there, I'm not sure if it's the greedy council charges keeping them away. I'd like to see it full of butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, cheese makers etc.

  • The Farmers united and took over rhe government in Holland. I'm certain you would get the support you needed to do the same. Much love from New Zealand.

  • I'd rather be able to buy direct from a farmer or Farmer's market - i don't mind if you get a better slice of the pie; The supermarkets shaft you and the consumer, as you say profits come before all other concerns for them. I've also noticed what are obviously deep litter eggs sold as fee range and we know those chickens haven't seen the outside of a barn or a chicken house. I buy what I can from farmer's markets but I know most near me can't afford the supermarket prices at the minute and the food banks are at a strain. So £6.50 a tray from the local butcher's who has a farm for me. Great value and price for superior quality and eggs layed not more than 5 miles from me.

  • I support the farmers but there is nothing wrong with making profit. All businesses, including farmers and supermarkets, seek to make profit because that's how they survive. Supermarkets are responsible for thousands of employees whose lives would be affected if they lose money. My criticism of supermarkets is that they like to promote fair trade overseas but not supportive of British farmers.

  • not sure..?... but, why can't british farmers sell to the public. a bit like the original co-op. not so much farmers markets but farmers supermarkets. since the lack of green grocers, fish mongers and butchers shops has left the high street i the public have very little choice about the food i buy. worse still each generation loses the facts about what they are eating. if i had a local farmers supermarket i would choose to use it.
