  • I've been to Lommel once, about 20 years ago. I can't remember why, but many of the tracks in the southern part of Netherlands were closed. So one of the first days we went to Lommel and took the bikes out for a spin. It had been raining a lot, apparently, some days before we arrived, so the track had almost a mirror like surface. I thought they had flattened all the corners and scrubs, but in the first corner, my bike(125cc 98 suzuki) just dug down in the muddy sand. The track almost ate the rear tire. Turned out that no one had been doing anything to the track, except the weather Spend about 10min trying to get it out, so I could ride the rest of the track, finished and didn't ride the rest of the day

    • As an American I can tell you the only guy in the USA that could be competitive in deep sand like this would be Roczen. You have to spend months practicing in it to be competitive. All Grand Prix guys live there in Holland or Belgium for a couple of years to learn how to ride it. Jeff Stanton who grew up in sand in Michigan was the only American I ever saw win in soft sand in many years. The Sand in Michigan is harder than this sand. You can dig a very deep hole with your hand in this type of sand.

    • Lommel is a more difficult track than all of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross tracks. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Not my words but the words of a KTM Redbull Team Manager, he said that it's the most difficult track of the MXGP. And Teutschenthal Germany is a very rough and difficult track as well. I wanna see Deegan try to be in a top 5 in lommel let stand a top 10. Not saying Deegan is a bad rider but some fanboys have such a narrow tunnel vision. Hunter Lawrence is a great rider as well and among my favorites but I don't know if he'd be first or second in Lommel.
