This is a Motocross Highlights Video of The Day Eli Tomac and Antonio Cairoli Squared Off! This race was the 2016 MXGP of the USA raced at Glen Helen Raceway. This was the first time in a while a MX Giant from the USA and a MX Giant from Europe raced head to head in sometime. Eli Tomac had an off year as he only won 1 Supercross race and 2 Pro Motocross races in 2016, he was recovering from double shoulder surgery. Antonio Cairoli had an off year as well as he was battling injuries early on, losing the 2016 MXGP Championship. However, both riders showed up looking like there old selves giving us a battle to remember. Other riders include Tim Gajser, Romain Febvre, Gautier Paulin, and many other great MXGP riders. Enjoy! #mxgp #motocross #dirtbike

  • I remember watching this race . I remember saying to my brother the second moto , “ at least tomac one the first moto “ not thinking it was possible for him to make up the time . Then beast mode does what he does . Thanks for posting this video . Brought back a good memory.

  • I wish Eli was in this condition in 2023 I don't think the 450 moto's this year would be as boring if the 18 had to worry about the shark in the water

    • Yesterdays race at high point, Tomac would’ve destroyed the field. We’re talking about a top 3 MX rider ever. He’s the goat of his generation no doubt

    • Tomac was suppposed to only ride SX in 2023 right? Or maybe that changed

    • You seem to forget this is only Jetts 1st outdoors on a 450. Give him a couple of years and he will be as fast as Tomac was then easily. I just want to see them go toe to toe next year in outdoors . Even if Eli beats him it will be good for Jett to learn some things off a legend before he hangs up the boots for good . Hopefully he hasn't made that decision already

  • Beast mode! Wish we coulda see some beast mode against Herlings. When he was comfy and dialed in with the bike he was unbeatable in my opinion. Funny no mention of these races in that ash euro dudes nut hugging Herlings documentaries. And you can’t forget he’s only been a part time motocross guy

  • This is similar to when JH84 came over to the last round of Ama pro motocross at ironman. certainly those guys want to race each other, but it's so hard for it to be a straight up race when tomac has nothing to lose, and 222 is in a championship. and vise versa JH84 had nothing to loose when tomac was in a championship. it was the same on 250's when Cooper Webb beat JH84. Cooper had nothing to loose and JH84 was in a championship. Even Mxon isn't really a good gauge. Look at Tom Vialle. More times than not, he beat Geerts in GP's. Vialle and Geerts are certainly in the top MXGP group. Geerts showed that at mxon last year... And now we will never know because tomac is hurt. JH84 just coming back. Maxime is out, DF is out, Chase is out... And Jett is getting a head start that will take at least a year for the entire world to catch back up.... Super silly season.

  • Tomac came through the field both motos and won them both with a pretty large gap. I think it's entirely possible that if Tomac had pulled a holeshot and went full tilt, he could have lapped the entire field.
