considering how terrified the US was of Soviet Echelons, I would believe that in '74, they would have done this Greenlight shit. They had no other "reasonable" recourse, until spy sats became technically efficient enough to be able to show where echelons would theoretically be coming, allowing for a "pre-emptive" strike and stopping an advance. Additionally, unlike in Vietnam, they would have plenty of time to choose "good" targets and the ability to deprive the USSR of resources, including things they would need like electrical generation, raw goods, and the factories to process those goods. This kind of story would be what would come out of Tom Clancy on Steven King drugs. He wouldn't touch something like(which tbh I find much more realistic than some of his shit I've read about Russia invadin') because the tone of the whole novel would be overshadowed by the question of why a system would consider the nuclear holocaust of millions preferable to losing, but doing that to people who are supposed to be your friends. Its a mindset that was very real during that period, and its hard to consider today.
They had some interesting ideas back in the 50s, like the British government's nuclear landmines which they briefly considered powering with chickens.
In the 1970s, the US didn't need to hide Neutron Bombs in major Western European Cities, when they had a wide variety of tactical nuclear weapons and associated delivery systems, and also considered the use of their strategic level ICBMs and SLBMs against "general purpose forces" (i.e. Fleets and Armies) as laid out in NSSM-169 and NSDM-242. By this point US Nuclear Command and Control, combined with very accurate and easily retargetable and MIRVed missiles like Minuteman III and Poseidon, combined with KH-11 KENNEN offering real-time reconnaissance capability enabled the flexible use of Strategic Nuclear Forces. There were Greenlight Teams armed with Atomic Demolition Munitions, which were are relatively low-yield, and were intended create obstacles, demolish bridges, dams etc and be parachuted behind enemy lines for sabotage. You wouldn't hide a nuclear warhead within a city (especially when they had been considerably miniaturised and were/are relatively easily transported), you would store such weapons centrally, and then disperse to their units in the event of war. If major Western European Cities were overrun by the Soviets, then delivering warheads by Pershing IRBM, Sergeant or Lance SRBMs or fighter-bomber (e.g. F-111s, F-4Es, Tornadoes etc) would be a much better method of doing so, would be more secure, and would avoid the problem of a significant diplomatic uproar that hiding a warhead with in a city (and then getting it discovered) would cause.

I love the campaign and all the secret missions/easter eggs. Multiplayer is pretty good. And Zombies has a decent storyline, with some fun easter eggs.

The anachronistic technology is almost as bad in here as it is in Vanguard. The ACSS reticle in the scope on that silenced SKS didn't exist until the 21st century. A laser sight in the early 80s was a unit that weighed around 5 lbs. And I see pic rail everywhere, that stuff didn't exist until the last half of the 1990s. What a mess.

black ops 1 is my favorite cod so black ops cold war hurts my soul due to the different voice actors for wood, mason and so on. I have to admit this mission was really dope idea and very cool to have zakhaev in the level, plus the setting is extremely dope. that's when cod campaigns are at their best when they use or play off real life themes/events or places.

I got this game yesterday, by far one of the best Call of Duties I've played.
Something I noticed, the BTR you easily kill while escaping the training facility is a BTR-82, which has a 30mm autocannon...
and enough armor you'd need at least an RPG to destroy get taken out by one 50 cal round

The campaign in Cold War wasn't the worst, but I definitely didn't enjoy it much. The longer the campaign goes on, the worse the writing gets. Which is more than BO3 and Vanguard being bad from the start and getting worse. Multiplayer wasn't great, but better than Vanguard by comparison. Zombies had a good start, but they poured too many resources into Outbreak which got bland really fast. But still way better than Vanguard zombies.

Overall, i think its an ok game wich i would get wouldnt get if you have something like vanguard or modern warfare, its basicly the same but with an other campain.
