It's because they're plasma.
If they were real they would, or they would have something physical rebounding them
@@mjohnson2807 ever since I was a kid I'd imagine an extendable rod with a mirror at the end and lasers at it's base. it'd be more of a baton with a sheath of light but that's as practical as we'd get, considering the absolutely massive amount of energy required for emf to bend and trap light
well technically, that's because the laser is basically enegry coming from something called a kyber crystal which can be ignited and extinguished, and that energy is well, of course limited, but it can't really "run out".

How you can get atoms excited: 1. Get some chill atoms, 2. Show them the whole FNAF timeline, 3. Show them the FNAF movie trailer. Good job, ur atoms are excited now.
3. Dont let them touch grass

Lasers don't have to be high energy. The energy in red laser pointer is very low, much less than a flashlight. However, it can be focused to an extremely small spot, potentially creating very high energy densities.
I studied lasers for a whole year, and this 60 seconds video explained it better than all the professors that teached me combined....
The analogy of a choir with atoms as the singers is such a good way to put it
I love how they work, it’s pretty interesting to know it!
A solution in search of a problem. I love it
I like how they published it even before they knew if it would be useful at all.
The problem with lightsabers is that, with nothing to receive the laser, the beam would just keep on going until it hit something, which would be rather problematic, especially in pressurized spacecraft.
hence it is not a laser. In star wars canon it is a plasma blade kept in form by a magnetic field
@@bertibert6656 that scientifically couldn’t work without a part at the other end of it. There would only be one pole in the magnetic field.

But its not the answer i need For what would happen if you drop The lightsaber upside down
It go down
it'd retract
They answered this in the last episode of Rick and Morty. Morty droped the lightsaber upside down and it was about to hit the earth's core.
It would get stuck at the hilt. If it had a hilt (handle) narrowerer than the blade then it would fall through the earth until it got to the middle of earth's core. It would bounce around inside the core for a few minutes, constantly falling "past" the gravitational centre of the planet until it eventually didn't have enough momentum to continue moving. At that point it would sit in the very middle of the planet forever. The hole it created on the way down would instantly close behind it (due to the pressure and molten rock). It'd be totally harmless and you'd have no way of knowing it was even there. Of course, a "real" lightsaber would get stuck as soon as the blade went through something solid in the ground (like a rock or even some wood) as the handle is wider than the blade. It'd be like poking a sword through a piece of cardboard - the whole blade goes through easily but the handle wouldn't let it go any further. If it did keep falling then after about 15-20 miles (25-40 kilometers) the liquid magma would simply melt the metal handle, which would mean that the complex components of the lightsaber would break and it would turn off forever very quickly. Lightsabers don't won't like in Richard & Mortimer Esq., unfortunately.
