I feel like Mojang tried REALLY hard to show people that the mob vote wasn't worthless. The whole wolf update wouldn't have come without armadillos 😅
I mean the mob vote was always worthless, and the armadillo didn't do much to disprove that since everything they do could've been added to sea turtles instead and the wolf armor doesn't solve the actual issue of wolves having AI that doesn't even work. Not to mention there's no correlation since reskins are extremely basic and could've easily been added with 1.14
except it was. no contest is necessary; mojang can add all three mobs with relatively minimal extra effort. the hardest part of adding mobs to the game is arguably the conceptual stage. the mobs vote is just an artificial way for them to let the community have input into what goes into the game.
The armadillo is still kinda useless, but imo it's ok because it gives the savannah more life, even though that's just one mob added. Personally I like mobs that serve only as ambience like bats. Hopefully though they add the savannah biome vote. It's one of the main reasons I voted for the armadillo.
I think it shows an exciting change for minecraft devs. That being adding new features and adding onto older content instead of adding a bunch of one time use things. Armadillo isn’t the best example of this, granted, but 1.21 as a makes quite a big stride in this direction in the massive red stone update and the bad omen overhaul to *combine* with new features
I feel like everyone is forgetting that the whole point of the mob vote is to tell the devs what they should focus on developing next based on player input. By voting for armadillos and dog armor, we told them we wanted the dogs to get an update first (before boats or extended reach). Not everything that loses in the mob vote is lost forever either. The concepts just get reshuffled in a different way at a later date, for instance the savanna getting more wildlife with the armadillo instead of the original ostrich idea. And I heard that frogs were another "lost" concept that got brought back too. The devs have lots of ideas that they want to flesh out, but if they spread themselves out too thin by focusing on everything that needs an update or that we want all at once, then we won't see a real update for at least a decade, haha
1:16 wolves now take full environment damage, but "that's balanced by the fact that their health is doubled"
they still useless, if you want to know why, there is another comment explaining why in the list
@@knightphantonbr834 well, if you value them individually, then, yes, it's still dangerous to take them on adventure. If you see them as tools, then it's already was okay, you just breed a dozen of them at your base, leave pups there and go exploring and/or fighting with the adults. P.S. It's somewhat weird to me how players can simultaneously adore their pets in the game and put the livestock into entity-cramming 1x1 murder holes.
@@knightphantonbr834 not really. That guy is just brainded.
Guys if it's both op and useless it's obvouslt balenced
I didn't know about the hopper optimization thing, that's so cool
I really liked the hopper change
Does this affect any tree farms or something
Thank you for the updates because I had forgotten about the spawn chunk change. The only reason I would update is for the tuff blocks (?!) and the trial chambers/mace at this point.
Oh, I'm glad you reminded us about the spawn chunk changes. I haven't updated my world since 1.20.1 and was considering updating to this update once I finish a couple projects, but I've also been meaning to check how large the spawn radius is getting reduced to since I have a passive iron farm at spawn. It's pretty close to center, but it may also be just outside of the new radius, or in lazy chunks, and I keep forgetting to map out the area.
You can always make a nether chunk loader
@@H0ttabych Yeah, I'm not great with redstone, haha. Honestly it's probably easier for me to move the whole thing than for me to do the whole chunk loading nether thing (especially because it's just a simple platform with 5 villagers and beds with a drop chute and lava for the golems, and a rudimentary hopper and chest storage system - it's about as basic as it gets). But I just need to check the position so I know what I'm in for when I update.
@@Ithenna Option B, you can use the command to set back the spawnchunks the way they always were
@@kriisyozviak3364 My cheats are disabled. Yes, I know you can bypass that with open to LAN, but that kinda also defeats the point of having them disabled in the first place.
Super excited for them to start working on 1.21 updates... again
Yknow that they gotta fixed some bugs.
Great overview, thanks! Nice to know we can help hopper lag now with simple solid blocks instead of needing a bunch of composters. Looking forward to that chunk loaded farms video.
The most important thing for me: Hopper functionality! Important: hopper minecarts still collect items, even if there is a full block above them. All farms with this collection system will continue to work! A campfire is not a full block: so even for farms that use such a kill system (campfire on top of a hopper): no problems!
I was surprised to find that although I couldn't bring my infinite potion effects (from that old version) into the next update, but my dogs with infinite effects still have them
8:40 Finally a good way to do Parity.
For hoppers, it's there an exception for mud? Crop land? If not, that will break things
yes there is they arent full blocks
Mud only has a 15 pixel tall hitbox, so items and mobs sink in 1 pixel, so it isn’t a full block. That’s why hoppers can pull through it, and only 16 pixel tall hitboxes are affected by the hopper change.
It said full blocks and container blocks
you should redo your beacon farm with the addition of end chunk loader without player so it only requires 1 player/account
The amount of internal changes to NBT is huge effectively proxy support fast load into a server custom world compression algorithm and probably more
omg actual early game spider eye use (a tiny bit of exp)
5:32 you're telling me i can run my sand duper without crashing my game every time i enter the end
stonks
Remember to install Java 21 if game not launching
I think it will be fine
It would be cool if Mojang suprised us in 1.21 with releasing the crab and the penguin to
yay we love breaking changes on MINOR VERSIONS ..
Kind of a dumb question but would it be better for full blocks over open hoppers or composters?
I imagine full blocks since the hopper won't need to check any slots inside of those. The composter is technically one slot to constantly check afaik
lol the thumbnail makes it look like the minecraft sun is about to go red giant.
I heard the new update improves the performance by cleaning up old code and modernizing it, is there any truth behind that?
Hey Ray, they should let you enchant wolf armor and we should get cat armor now!
They should be able die 9 times
The good, bad and ugly of minecraft 1.20.5
You beat me to it
@@theaceofspades8619 he beat meat to it
A more effecnt spider farm?
Just more flavors of the same dog (with nothing else different than visual)
The update content are really so unsignificant...and still so many important work to tackle...inventory cluttering problem, movable tile entities, LOD's...
Insignificant**
Is the shulker change importend for shulker farms?
The single dimension farm I built uses armor stands. Before the update the shulkers would break the armor stands which would break the farm. This type of farm will work again after the update.
I'm not making an item sorter right now
you can either just put one or two chests before your hopperline to align the items, or just use 3 stacked sea pickles iirc
If an existing server world is updated, will existing villagers whose trades have been locked and fully established be affected by the villager rebalance (nerf) ?
The vllager nerf isn't in 1.20.5
@@Azertium I know. It's optional in 1.20.5. No harm in asking for the future when it no longer will be, though.
@@StarshipToMars In my testing, they won't be affected.
they won't because that would require to change already existing villager nbt, only if you found a new villager without any former trades (set nbt), the changes would be seen
@@ezren_7140 Thank you. That's really helpful. =)
one thing I noticed is that written book data isn't being saved between updates if the world was loaded in certain snapshots, is anyone else having this problem?
@@RaysWorks do you happen to know a workaround for this issue? My Hardcore world of 4 years is stuck in the snapshots because the game keeps wiping my book data when I try to update it.
@@foltro1 did you not make a backup before transfering your hardcore to an experimental version?..
@@rektdesu3577 oh I definitely did, so I guess the worst case scenario is I’ll have to load up a previous version and lose some progress
Can you do armdlo farm?
It is basically put a armadillo on the hopper and done. It will drop a shell every 5-10 mins like eggs from chicken.
Just set up an observer clock pointing into a dispenser with brushes, with a hopper underneath. The armadillos have no brushing cooldown, you can get scutes as fast as you can brush them. Just be warned that brush durability will burn really quick with a setup like this, so you may want to consider an autocrafter if you needs tons of scutes.
I assume that the spawnchunks will get smaller by upgrading the world?
You can change how big it is with commands
@@siriuslyepic308 Yeah but not necessarily for a Hardcoreworld due to the permissions i don’t have when cheats are turned off. I don’t wanna cheat with Open To Lan…
Does it just upgrade chunks I havent been to?
@@RaysWorks Ty man and all your work keep it up 👍
i just want the crafter
If you are a Java 17 user, delete it and download and install java 21, Open JDK its actually good but it give too much lag to Minecraft

did wolfes take less dmg or smt

Yo I need help I brought a Realm on Minecraft snapshot 1.20.5 pre2 and it let me update it until Snapshot 1.20.5 The last time it let me update it was on 1.20.5-rc3 but now it’s not popping up my realm on the new update
Is there any way I could upload the realm on the latest Snapshot edition
"The next change (...) is the nerf of spawn chunks". That's kinda a weird way to put it.
hows it weird?
@@Big-A It's a setting, not a game mechanic, I would simply call "nerf" inapplicable here. And it's just a change to a default value that can be reassigned anytime, so people who actually need those spawn chunks can adjust in a couple of seconds.
@@vee24 the default determines how the vast majority plays. Yes, everyone can edit it but most of the player base will never do anything with the setting.
@@olivers.7821 Not to mention players who prefer servers may not be able to convince server owners to change the gamerules.
Didn't they say spawn chunk radius will stay the same for old worlds when updated?
