  • I find it funny how these big bully's can literally trip over their own feet but put a tiny little kitten near them and they stay perfectly still, so not to hurt them. It is SO SWEET !!

    • They are smarter than most people give them credit for. The day I noticed our first pit bull rambunctiously playing w/ a bunch of 5 & 6 year olds, but turn into a quiet, careful and patient nanny when around infants, was when I realized how smart they are & that they actually care.

    • @@JessieCristo I completely get this. My 90lbs pittie climbs into my arms and cuddles me, and he clearly knew when my health got worse. Heck, he can even sense when my husband has low blood sugar, so he plays gently with him, and lets him win lol. The one before him, (RIP) my Sunshine girl, she LOVED kids. Kissed all over them, very gentle, rolling over for belly rubs. They are far from dumb, despite acting goofy quite a bit. Just because they may not be stoic, doesn’t mean they are dumb.

  • I have this situation going on at my house too. I adopted a 174lb American bull dog 18 months ago that had not been treated well in his former home. Someone in the home was abusive to him. He was also free fed cheap dog food. Being stressed out, he ate to the point he was massivly overweight. He looked like a really plump sausage. Even the first 9 inches of his tail was obsessed fat. Then it shrunk to normal size, like a sausage casing waiting to be stuffed. First thing we did was change his diet, feed him on a schedule, and took him for lots of walks. (He's within 20 lb. Of his target weight now.) In March I ended up with 2 - 5.5 week old kittens. (Looong story) Big dog? He fell in love. He fell hard. They play on him, over him, around him, under him. When they were first here, I would find them sleeping under his ears. All 3 eat out of his dish. (This is in addition to their kitten cuisine. They are always together. My husband accidentally locked the kittens in the coat closet one day on his way out the door to work. My neighbor called me at work, an hour or so later because big dog was barking and howling and making all kinds of ruckus. (Not his usual style) When I got home the bottom ½ of the door, trim, and drywall to the closet was demo'd. He hadn't made it through yet, not for lack of trying. When I walked in the door, he ran up to me making this horrible pleading screaming sound. He was just so distressed. When I opened the door the reunion was so sweet. He sniffed and licked evey square millimeter of both of them. Since, he won't let them out of his sight. They go outside with him, and have to come in when he does. His rules.(but also mine.) They join his walks. The best thing about this quarenteen is watching the guys figure out how to do friendship. Big dog is down to about 140 lb. He now has a waistline. If you try you can now find his ribs and his tail has shrunk considerably (which is how I figured out it was from so much excessive weight. Previously, I just thought it was deformed.) He isn't as gassy and he doesn't snore when he's awake now. I'm hoping these changes will give him more days with us. Even if it doesn't, the quality of those days he does have, is vastly improved. Much of it is due yo his friendship with Riff n Raff. Heck, I even take him to the gym. He loves doing tug of war with the weight lifters. He's just one of the guys.

If an animal is unprotected, the animal is also on the upside for producing unwanted litters. TNR - trap neuter/spay and return - is a service thru many groups and shelters nationwide. Private vet's may charge a lot of money for spay/neuter, while others have low cost/no cost programs. Our shelter recently had a s/n 30 cat day;we partner with Northwest Spay and Neuter facility. @AC-os1he@AC-os1he2 жыл бұрын
    • @@AC-os1he absolutely sometimes that is the case, however, just taking one more in isn't that much of a burden. I'm not going to go into all of the information about our situation, but I'll just say that my husband was working and supporting both of us on about 20,000 a year, and we took in one kitty, who was thankfully already spayed, and of course I was never going to see one of them go hungry, and took me months to actually bond with a feral cat who had babies with a young female that I had also been feeding. I could absolutely not get him in a situation that I could take him to the vet to have him neutered, though we did form a close bond and he loved and trusted me. I knew that the young lady was pregnant and maybe a year old or a little less than that, and had a neighbor watching with me to see where she may have the babies, though she was very friendly and sociable. When I found out where they probably were, I went to the abandoned house next door, and saw the kittens in there, probably 6 to 8 weeks old, knew that they were my feral boys' because of the markings on two of them. I took some food over there, and of course the next day, they followed Mama over to my house which I intended to happen to keep them away from the road. Found a very good home for two of the boys together, and got Mama and the other three fixed, and had planned to keep one though just wanted to get everyone a home that I could so I wasn't going to choose one. Through researching online for help in my area, I was able to get all of them spayed and neutered for free! I planned to keep the last boy, but was trying to adopt the girls out, but the one lady who really seemed like a good person who was interested, ended up being out of the question when she mentioned declawing! Absolutely not! If material things mean more to you than your fur babies, then you don't deserve them! A lot of people don't understand that it's a toe amputation, and we didn't either way back in the day understand that either. Moral of the story is that you can take one more, but of course not all of them, because I have also had other strays come to me that I found good homes for, foster groups who research those who adopt them. We ended up with seven, two females who come to us already spayed, my feral boy passed away, and we kept the Mama and the other three kittens as well as another kitten who was a stray.

  • This is really heartwarming and super sweet 🐾💝🐾💝🐾💝🐾 Our beloved dog crazy Daisy from the local shelter was like that too. She weighted about almost 100 pounds she was a St Bernard Mix... We adopted her from the local shelter with 7 months. Somebody put her leash at night at the shelter entrance 🤬🤬🤬 But it was ment to be... Love at first sight for all... Two months later my neighbour brought me a maybe 6 weeks old kitten he found in his garden... Our sweet crazy Daisy loved him from the first second and she was his mom... She never had own babys but that super sweet gentle giant was so maternal and Tyler and she weren't unseparable from the beginning... He followed her every step and he was coming with us for outdoor activities for years and years... Sadly my sweet and beautiful baby girl passed away in August 2019 cause of cancer and our world broke down in a second... Tyler was calling her day and night and he checked the house and couldn't understand why she wasn't coming 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 He was really down he didn't play anymore he eat almost nothing he ignored our other cat it was really heartbreaking... I got depressive cause Daisy was my super girl, my shadow, my best friend and my soulmate. We had almost 11 years with the sweetest, funny, crazy and most gentle and beautiful love bug... More then a year later we decided to adopt a new dog cause we couldn't stand that emptiness and lonelyness in the house anymore... And so we met Marley....😍😍😍 He was found at a dumpster in Greece and he was afraid of men and he was very shy and anxious in the beginning... When we brought him home Tyler was coming to the door as every time and he couldn't imagine what he saw cause Marley could be a little brother of Daisy... This was the first day after one year that he was happy again. He followed Marley every second and they both sleep together since day one... Animals are the best beings on this planet 😍💝🐾💝🐾😍

  • We had a rescue Rottie that was found on the streets of a nearby city, emaciated and wandering, looking for food and shelter. We named him Herb, well he chose the name. When we brought him home I was concerned about what he would do to our cat. The Shelter didn't know about him and cats, never tested him. Our Silver Point Siamese was waiting at the front door, having heard us coming. As soon as I opened the door, Rose was on him - all teeth and claws! Herb just looked at her, put his paw down on her neck and pushed her head onto the floor and held her there until she calmed down. When he let her up, they were best friends and remained so for the rest of their lives. Male or female Rottweilers - I've had both, they are very nurturing and gentle, especially with small ones - animals, babies, what have you. But, if you want a Rottie, be very careful they've been overbred here and can be problem dogs, plus you MUST be an Alpha human - a person who takes charge - to deal with their intelligence and their assertiveness. They're NOT for timid people! I loved Norm, would love to have him as a family member!

  • Since dogs have been living with humans for a long time, they are said to be able to read our emotions. Many dog owners may have some idea of what they are feeling, such as going to the side of someone who is sad and comforting them with a lick, or wagging their tails vigorously when they are happy. Dogs have excellent senses and cognitive abilities, and can distinguish the slightest sounds of breathing, heartbeats, and tone of voice, and respond to human emotions
