Props to all of us here who are open to learning and better communicating with our furry loved ones. I'm happy to see so many of us not blaming our family member but trying to resolve our own shortcomings in communication to result in a positive environment for all.
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
Our dogs aren’t the only ones who have something to learn today.
For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕
Aww thank you! I needed this. ❤
@@chandanac891 you are very welcome. ❤️💕
thank you 😭😭😭
@@yeoinbird ❤️💕❤️💕
Thank u. Find myself second guessing myself and worrying if I'm doing any of it right. Have a 8 week old pup and he is a little monster when it comes to nipping.
I never comment on videos but I was just able to pet, cuddle and scratch my puppy for 10 minutes straight with NO biting! I have tried so many methods of correction and this is the only one that has worked. Thank you! ❤️
did you use the lead or touch
@@harvo5788 I used touch on a 3 months puppy, now he understands he can't bite whoever he sees, and I can play with safely without being injured
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
Same!! The collar does not work for my puppy it jacked him up. Luckily I worked on "settle " and after the active correction I say "settle" and he sits or lies down. It's amasing
I came back to write this. I used the touch method on a 7 month old red heeler rescue that was worse behaving than the puppy in this video. I only had to do it 3 times and now she is listening!
I think the moment at 6:22 shows beautifully that you haven’t broken this dog by correcting her, or scared her in any way. She was corrected, listened and then immediately expected a belly rub. That’s a comfortable dog who’s understood that the correction was about the behaviour, not you asserting some stupid sort of dominance and you being generally aggressive and untrustworthy. Love it!
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
actually that can be a cowering position for dogs, not asking for belly rubs. in fact you can see that dog is stressed by the way its panting with its mouth stretched at the sides. in a few shots you can also see the tongue flick - another sign of a stressed dog.
true!! and thank you for saying this because it helps me remember the same thing about my dog! sometimes i worry he will become afraid of me because of me correcting as best i can, but he still comes up excitedly to me everyday and gives kisses and rolls over for belly rubs!! so i know he's okay, and he still loves me. man, dog training really is hard 😭😭😭 (especially if your puppy has some pretty intense behavior problems like mine does)
This is incredibly timely! I have a 6 month old German shepherd behaving similarly. He is not malicious, but the mouthing is simply too much.
I have a 11 week old German Shepherd who does this. Working on this behavior. She improving but practice make perfect
Update: I did this section in a few minutes and it literally stop the dog biting. No joke. She started to lick my hand. He's Legit. So happy. Now I am working on leash pulling which some days are better than others. I am going continue to do the method in video as well.
Mine's more than a year old and still reverts to this at times..
@@truegrizzlesfan2292 my GSD is 10 weeks and loves a nibble! Glad I found this video and will be using the advice to hopefully stop her nipping
Same with my boxer Jax
I so appreciate your breaking things down further and answering the questions you knew we'd have. Great teaching!
I tried to follow this advice a little while ago but my 5 year old daughter got upset thinking I was being cruel to her puppy, so at best it was a half hearted attempt. Today, I had a rare hour to myself. At first my attempts to stop the puppy (pug by the way, about 4 months old) were pretty fruitless. I think my advice is, if they still see biting/attacking you as a game, then you need to be more harsh. I was in a room with a lot of space, and it got to the point where I was pretty forcefully pushing him away, quite some distance. I never struck him, more of a very firm push, and he was never going to hit into anything, but I was getting stonger in my resistance to him biting. Less than 20 minutes later he was much more calm, not nipping me or bitting me, lots more licks and still a bit of teeth on skin but nowhere near what it was. We went out to a kids party and after coming home he was much better. A tiny relapse but with another firm push away he is as good as gold. I'm expecting to have to reinforce this in the coming days, but following the advice above the change is pretty remarkable. Don't be afraid to be strong if you need to would be my advice, so long as you won't physically hurt the dog. This bloke knows what he is on about. He's the dogs bollocks.
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
I just love watching Will interact with the dogs! The advice he offers is spot on, but just watching how he moves and communicates with the pups is the best part for me. He certainly has the magic touch with these creatures, and I learn so much just seeing how he interacts with so many different dogs in so many different situations.

@@ReggieChump dude, sounds like you had a rough childhood
Wow, this guy knows what he’s talking about. I always felt bad on the dog, but since I’ve used this method, without watching this video. I have the best dog ever. Thanks for the reassurance, this will give me more confidence going forward.
By putting out content like this, you’re really being active in helping people become better leaders for their dogs and in turn making sure people can keep them so they aren’t surrendered and ultimately put down. Thank you Will 🙏🏽 I have an 8 week old gsd who I’m training and he is biting me more than is acceptable. I’m going to keep correcting him and hopefully I can be the leader that he needs to be a good dog!
Minden képp, így igaz! Kitartás, és türelem! Meg hozza gyümölcsét! ✌️✌️✌️👌
We have two very smart littermate girls who will benefit from this starting today. They are already responding to the corrections you've demonstrated. Thanks!
I just tried this technique with our 9 week old puppy when she was in crazy-bitey mode and it worked instantly to change her behavior. It required very little force. Merely this new sound paired with this unexpected correction worked wonders. After trying solely positive and passive ways of addressing this, I’m amazed by how well this worked. Thank you, Will!
Thanks Will! I have a 4 month old German Shepard without a malicious bone in her body but she gets really excited and has knives for claws and a shark for a face and this is really helping calm her down
Love your channel. We got two 1year old Gorden Shepperds from and old couple that couldn't handle them anymore. Your videos helped us a lot !!! Thank you
This is great!!! By far the best video I’ve seen on how to correct the biting and mouthy play. We have a 9 month old Goldendoodle and he is EXTREME with the play biting (or protest biting when we say “no” to something). He doesn’t respond to “no” the majority of the time and I tried this with him and he responded almost instantly. We’ve got lots of work to do but this video was SO helpful!
Leadership IS love! Thank you for this message- so true!
Brilliant video - I love all your videos but you clearly explained how to correct the undesirable behaviour on this one, more of these please! Thank you.
The best video I’ve ever seen on correcting dogs when it comes to biting. Thank you for sharing this with us
Can i just say i have been doing this less then a day on a 16 week old german sheppard pup and its crazy the improvement already. Thank you so much. I dont usually comment on videos but this is fantastic
got to say I admire you uploads you really do know what you're doing and it's awesome to watch thanks .
By far the best puppy biting correction video I’ve seen. Thank you so much!
i just want to thank you Will i found your videos 48 hours ago ,a few weeks ago my rescue American bulldog Benny passed away, ive grew up with dogs my whole life the joy they bring is immeasurable and my house felt empty with out him, and out of the blue a friend of a friend contacted me about their American bulldog 6 month old puppy asking if i would take him in as they couldn't control him, they down played how bad it really was but his puppy biting was out of control and would jump all over them pull and lead the way, i thought id finally met my match lol he wouldn't listen all, i've had him 5 days, nothing id usually try with any dog ive had before worked and after the worst walk id ever been on with him leaping into the air at passers by not listening to me at all i lay in bed thinking what have i done what am i going to do, i stumbled across your channel and 48 hours later no more puppy bites, and after half our of back garden tune ups we've just been on our first walk with a loose lead baring a few distractions from passers bye who wanted to love the puppy, but to my shock he didn't leap into the air at them was more just a firm interest but took a little encouragement but we moved on, he's currently snoozing on the floor next to me and didn't even attempt to climb on the sofa once since we have been back, were not finished yet and we have a way to go but the transformation ive been able to get in less than a few hours work thanks to your clear instruction is amazing so thank you from my self and a very sleepy diesel
I've tried this along with other "stop biting" methods but my dog just doesn't listen, she will calm down for a second and start again like nothing happened, I don't know what to do anymore
Consistency dogs arent dumb you just have to keep going and raise the intensity with correction and praise when she calms down
This training tip works incredibly! Even for a nipping and teething ten week old labrador, we’ve found his behavior has changed immensely even from a single play session similar to this video! No more nipping and if it occurs, one correction and he’s got the idea to keep us out of his mouth! Thank you!!🙌🏻
I cannot see what trainers hand did Can explain
Go to 2:08 in video shape of hand shown. Then put w SHS sound at 3:30 in video.

I just rescued a puppy from the shelter and this is perfect just what I needed to know!! Thank you
I’m consuming your channel like it’s a delicious Italian lasagne. I’m picking up my GSD puppy in 6 days and your channel helping me so much for what’s to come. Thank you.
This video was so beyond helpful. My 6 month old German shepherd puppy exhibits intense mouthing and I was previously unable to achieve that “off” command. I quickly realized that while it may feel a bit uncomfortable giving an intense hard correction, once I exceeded my pups intensity she caught on very quickly. I was below her threshold of intensity before, and she wasn’t understanding that enough is enough. I will be incorporating this into training/play time every day! Thanks for the awesome content!
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
What did trainer do I only saw his hand What did je to
@@catalinababy6068to my understanding it is in a claw like position. If you would put your hand on the table it would look like a imitation spider lol. Now when the dog does the undesired biting you tap them on their side depending on the intensity they are acting up. If the active response does not affect them then you will need to intensify the response till they stop.
Does your German Shepherd pinch the sensitive skin behind your knees or underside of your arm? My 2 month old does now that he knows he can't bite. Doesn't leave a mark, it's just extremely painful. I don't know how something so gentle can be so indescribably painful. Little bugger.
All about it. I love that you are realistic about what works and then show them that hey, just need you to get the message, then you can have the world!
Such an amazing video and I am so happy ! So many videos don't FULLY explain and I am sometimes left confused. After this video I knew exactly what to do and it worked! I am subscribed and am sure keeping it that way! Thank you again!
Very insightful, thank you. Getting my puppy hopefully in the spring, surely I will be using this advice 🙂
Keep the videos going please, my new puppy will be here the 28th and iv been binging your videos. We decided on an Akita with your help. Thank you!
One of the best instructional videos I've ever seen. The way he explains it is perfect. Two thumbs up.
Facts man, the rest on YT Ives been searching for are absolutely asssss
Great relationship insights. Dogs are better at understanding than most people. Excellent teaching.
Your methods are incredibly effective! Started using them 4 weeks ago on my 6 mo chocolate Labrabull. It's like all of a sudden I was kind of speaking her language. Everything just clicked!! Thanks so much Will! 🤗
Love your videos! Saw a difference in your instruction from the others I was watching in the first 5 mintues of the first video and IT WORKED!
You're videos are the best. You cut to the chase, show examples and explain how and why it works. This just changed everything, my hands were getting so cut up from my 9 week old puppy biting I found myself getting angry with him. So I searched your videos once again and found you had one on puppy biting. Even tho he wiggles around a lot and tries to bite me still, he can't get me with this hold of his collar. I wait for the relaxing second and reward him. He's starting to understand and doing better everyday with this technique. I've also been teaching him "leave it" with food placed in front of him and making him wait, "leave it" until I say it's ok... I'm hoping it'll transfer over to anything I don't want him to bite, eat, or get into. Like my hands and clothes!! You're videos are my first go to everyday... Thank you!!
Oh he did and he has help me a lot
You're amazing...and she's so adorable. Thanks for teaching us how to unlock the best of our doggos.
Thank you so much for your time in making this video. I am over 40 and got my first puppy ever. I'm a cat lover. But my puppy has stolen my heart. She's a pit bull and she is 3mo old rescue. She's so sweet but she rips my skin open multiple times a day. I'm going to try this.
Excellent content on how the person/dog relationships are formed, especially with GSD, best knowledge on the subject , very clear, very concise, easy to understand content, I have read in awhile on the importance of who is the pact leader. Bravo.
This is such a awesome video and exactly what I needed. I am a petsitter and have a german shephard which do the biting but to a high level, I have a week with this dog and I am going to use this tip.. Love your videos and the way you explain everything.
I literally just watched this work before my eyes when I tried it with my very playfully bitey 11week cockapoo pup. Incredible! Thank you!
Excellent presentation skills and great technique. I watch a few videos before I subscribe. I have two, very well behaved German Shepherds that are my trusted companions and friends. They are role models for many and we assist those with problems - MOST often due to the human handlers. Your techniques are solid and you're a very effective communicator - you've earned those YT plaques!
Thank you! I was having issues with her listening to my corrections, but that is because her biting and dominance and aggression are actually at a high level and I am not correcting at her level or higher... I did notice yesterday she listened to the corrections more bc I was doing it more affectively like this. Thank you for these videos... My puppy pit rot mix is going to be such a great dog after we work through a few of these issues. She's a good girl now of course, but a crazy wanting to own the house little pup... And she hates being told what to do... But now I know I'm doing the corrections better and she's listening. I'm so proud of what we have already accomplished and I can't wait to accomplish more with her! My sweet little crazy lady Ophelia! ahaha! All because of great videos like yours!
This is incredible. I have a 3 month old Chihuahua and been struggling with puppy biting for almost a month. Tried this technique for 15 minutes and COMPLETELY changed her behavior. Hands down the best puppy tutorial I've followed, I've been stressing fighting the biting almost drove me crazy!
I’ve already started to implement these techniques with my bouvier German Shepherd mix and she’s responding well too it even after only 12ish hours. Thanks so much for the video and info!
Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book kzhead.infoUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.
This is definitely the type of training I need to train my puppy. I looked and looked online and everyone always said no hitting or disciplining. Claiming that I should remove everything and give the perfect scenario for my pup. But this worked almost instantly. I LOVE my dog. You’ve earned my Sub and 👍🏼
Great intel! Got myself GSD and she is still teething. So I find myself substituting Chew toys in place of my hands. Everything you have demonstrated is spot on! My last GSD was put down last year. And after 12-13 yrs of loyal loving companionship one tends to forget the bullet points of the puppy training. Thanks mate for refreshing me on those crucial teaching lessons. Cheers
Exactly, I’ve had dogs before but a long time ago and I need a quick puppy rearing refresher course 👍
Haven't had any luck yet
I want to take my 7 month old Golden Retriever through the AKC Good Citizen Certification and Therapy Dog certification so this step is super important to me. Your videos are my Bible on how to prepare Cooper for a life of joyful service and companionship. Thanks Will for everything you produce and release. It's amazing how having a full toolbox and a guidebook like your videos improves my and my dog's life
If you bred me for someone's pet, took me away from my brother's, sister's, mum, dad.... And cut my testical's off, then locked me up all day... I'd bite your face off... "Animal lovers"... RIGHT?
They are so forgiving. They make mistakes, and we do too. Its a companionship. And its a learning curve for everyone on how best to teach and since every dog is slightly different we have to keep reimagining the possibilities of how to learn. German shepherds are the best though, they are beyond loyal and affectionate, their ultimate goal is to make you happy. Never had a better friend.
Yes, absolutely! Leadership is love!
The way you physically correct, is nothing more ( probably less) than when a person kicks or nudges someone under the table kind of thing... No feeling hurt, just a way of communicating
Your videos are soooo good and helpful!! I’ve been learning so much, and the relationship with my new german Shepard/kangal/ Belgian malinois is going so well. Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thank you, this is a great video! I understood everything you explained and covered.
My 10 week old miniature Schnauzer was biting and becoming difficult. I used this method and all most instantly his behavior has changed for the better. Thank you Will. PS. the video on Sunday was exceptional.❤
Amazing man. Hats off to you! I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm
Oh thank you so much! I'm so scared of doing something wrong when it comes to training my new puppy, but this helps a lot! I've just had her for 5 days but she's recently started biting and just thank you! This is both comforting and amazing!

how’s it going with your puppy now?
You nailed it. Leadership is love. Great video. Thank u.
I love these videos and I feel you could even stress MORE that DOGS ARE NOT HUMAN!! They really really really learn by touch and sensation even more than we do and they get "oh damn that's not a good time for me!" vs "WOW this is the best time!" and they really really really want to go with the good time as much as they can.
One of the better videos i've seen on this, well explained on how to apply the slip lead and proper use and also explaining the desired results and what could have until you get it right. Also, good to see explanations on the dogs behaviour as it was happening. Sometimes most people don't talk about that and "home trainers" are left wondering if the desired behaviour is what should be happening or not. i've been doing this with my pup, and he has been reacting the same way, barking from a distance and figuring out what's going on. Good to know it is a normal reaction and nothing to worry about too much at this stage.
Thank you for this excellent video. I’m a new dog owner and love your delivery.
I love how you word everything
Thank you so much. This has been an issue with our 6 month old black lab mix. I used the voice correction & grabbed his collar and that worked.
Love your videos. So helpful. Have a great weekend
Absolutly great process. I have a 1 year old rescue GSD with zero social skills when i get her and biting is still a problem so ill try this directly
I rescued a year old dog from my local shelter and he keeps play biting me and my family, thanks so much for the great video this will really help.
Omg. Amazing. I just got a puppy that is 14 weeks old. Australian shepherd blue healer. Her bitting is uncontrollable. She is ripping my forearm with her baby sharp tooth instead of toys and biting my legs when walking. So after watching your video, I did your corrections and she is now ( in 6 corrections) a better and different puppy. I will continue to watch your training video’s because you are the best online training I have seen. You sure understand dogs. Thank you so much.
Thanks - just “discovered” you and am delighted with seeing how you stop bad behaviour so easily. BUT I could not see what it was you actually did.
Great video! Thank you!! I have a GSD puppy who is 15 weeks today ( we know - we went to the vet for final shots!). He continues to "go over the top" and bites quite hard - my hands are dripping with blood - I tried the "holding his collar tightly and keeping his mouth away from me" method just about 30 minutes ago. He's clearly over-tired so he came in and had a quick puppy nap. He's settled down right now but first of all, you and your methods are SOOOO appreciated and thank you. I would've liked to see your hand shape and location of touch in slow motion so I could try it. I do think, however, I'm on the right track. I praise profusely ( which is why I feel so HURT emotionally when he bites me) ( See? personal!!??!!?) but I'm glad to hear that what I'm trying is ok to try and I wish he becomes a soft biter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've posted your video at such a perfect time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic puppy training tutorial. Sending lots of love and warm greetings from Missouri.
This is amazing! Thank you so much! worked straight away with our puppy who bit all the time!
Thank you Sir. Have a Blessed day.
You are the best!! Thank you 💪🏻
I have a golden doodle and she’s been biting. This instantly made a difference. I didn’t have to go that high at all. Thank you Will!
Well done!! Thank you
thank you for providing different options
Excellent video!!!!!! Thanks so much for the effort!
8 week old Rottweiler here. Great videos! Seriously, the best out there.✌️
Cant thank you enough for this. We struggled with "No" and moving away for a week and our 8 week old Springer was just getting worse. Thus has changed his behaviour in 30 mins!! Not sure how it works when "No" dies not......but it works!!
I have a female GSD the same age with EXACTLY the same coat colouration. She’s very play bitey. Going to use this advice, thank you so much.
You have such a beautiful Dog, and your Dog sure does love you....thank you Sir
Hello! I love your take on all your videos! I ha e watched many before when my other 2 dogs were puppies, q1 year old gsd and 2 year old shepsky. Now I have a 3 month old malinois, and I forgot all about the biting and chewing !!! Thank you!
Thank you, I'll definitely try this! I have a 6 month Heeler Pup, the teething stopped but the mouthing didn't. I hope this will help ❤
Thanks man..I needed this
Wow thank you soooo much! I rescued a 11 month old Dalmatian Pomsky mix and he had 0 training when I got him, didn't even know sit. He's supppper mouthy and this helped so much!
You are my favorite trainer!!
Will is a man that completely understands dogs, there are many that think they do, then there is Will
Omg, I'm a first timer with watching the videos, i just sub scribed! I definitely will try this. I have a samoyed husky mix with German shepherd which is 1.5 years old. He plays so rough and this video is exactly to the T, that's exactly how my dog plays. He doesn't know when to stop, just like a "terrible 2" stage child.
This is incredibly helpful!!
I tried it with my husky and it works brilliantly!! Thank you Will!!
Thank you for this video - brilliant. When will your training leash be back in stock?
Absolutely worked. Amazing
I just saw this and love your training skills. I also wonder where you got your toy. Your help is appreciated.
Thanks for the tips! Also pretty awesome tattoos dude!
Thank you so much!❤
My gsd is a 7 month old female and she is exactly the same but on the flip she's so loving and caring. I will definitely be doing this exercise
This method absolutely worked in a day for my 10 week old Yorkie, thanks a million 😊
Absolutely brilliant! We have an 11 week old GSD that was driving us to distraction with playful biting. The saddest part was it was making my 8yr old daughter start to feel nervous and no explaining that he was trying to play worked for her. I used the touch correction and had exactly the same response from my dog as in the video..!! This guy absolutely knows what he’s talking about!! Thankyou Will for yet another informative, honest and educational video! 👍🏻
Good video and also nice accent that improves my pronunciation as well 😊
Thank you. I have lots of time, so I think the passive correction will be fine.
