The "softest" NHL player on average is tougher than 99% of men out here and you know it, and i suspect that if you were in fact in that 1% that was actually tough you wouldnt be out here calling him soft, you, knowing what its like to go battle would respect that he does the same, the fact that you dont, and are on YT calling a grown man names is pathetic.

  • I'm honestly blown away at how much coverage this is getting. Watching it live I thought for sure it was going to be 5, so I get the initial reaction by the Caps. However, the second you watch a replay, this is a nothing hit. It's as clean as can be. I can't understand the statements from people saying Panarin threw an elbow, that he "clearly" hit him in the head (he clearly didn't) etc. The only thing I take issue with is the roughing penalty assessed to Caps. If the refs thought it was enough to start with a Major and go from there, it's reasonable to think the Caps saw the same thing. They could've easily just reviewed the play and given out zero penalties.

    @Bandaid_Bus@Bandaid_Bus10 күн бұрын
    • not as clean as can be. idk who is claiming it is an elbow, that would be wrong as well. He did clearly make contact with the head and extend upwards through the hit, please see the head leaving the body behind e.g. stevens on lindros, messier on modano, cooke on savard, and on and on. It's just a softer reprint of the same type of hit that puts force through the head primarily

    • @@Taigiry RMNB wrote an article that he threw an elbow. I repeat my assessment that this couldn't be a cleaner hit. There is not now, nor has there ever been, a rule that says the players head is not allowed to move after a hit. This hit was NOTHING like anything that Lindros or Stevens threw or encountered. I'll repeat it again. This is a clean hit in every league in every era everywhere. Just stop already. Oshie put his head down and got lit up, end of story.

The head moving after the hit is a measure not a rule and the examples are for parallels that way we can use both to find consistency. It's like you don't understand how rules are supposed to work in discussions that include ambiguity. Probably isn't your fault tbh. They did make rules for this. • Nah, not at 1:00. Initial contact is high chest, Oshie is ducking, then a driving motion. Refs called a penalty on ice, was reviewed by Toronto and overruled. Good call.

      @mikenunz@mikenunz10 күн бұрын
    • @@mikenunz You make a great point. I mean, if it's high chest and not the head, it would make sense why Oshie was pulled by a concussion spotter. Because getting hit in the chest is something concussion spotters often pull a guy off the ice for. And as for the good folks in Toronto? Well, as we all know, they never make mistakes. 👍

      @saldipasqualeproductions5055@saldipasqualeproductions505510 күн бұрын
    • @@saldipasqualeproductions5055 Yeah check the frame a second before at 2:24. Panarin leads with his backside and lower body. As he FOLLOWS THROUGH, his back makes contact with Oshie's head. This is NOT a penalty in the NHL. If the initial point of contact is NOT the head, it's NOT a penalty. You can scream all day "it's contact with his head" and how the NHL is attempting to protect against concussions, yet the rule states if the initial contact is NOT the head, it's NOT a penalty.

      @thedarkknightrises330@thedarkknightrises33010 күн бұрын
    • @@saldipasqualeproductions5055 I understand your sarcasm, but you have it wrong. When defining illegal contact, the rules are that the head is the PRIMARY point of contact, which it isn't. The NHL released info that it was a "body check" where the head was not the targeted or initial point of contact, which it wasn't. My citation of the angle offered at 1:00 shows that indeed, #10 initiated a body check where initial contact is the high chest, where ultimately and secondarily contact is made with the head. And agreed, Toronto does mistakes, this just wasn't one of them (not sarcasm).

      @mikenunz@mikenunz10 күн бұрын
    • @@thedarkknightrises330 Exactly. PK and Messier were arguing this, and I agree with PK that the NHL needs to protect players when it comes to head contact, but the argument is that there are conditionals: players' heights, positions, was player ducking, was head contact clearly intended, etc. The game is fast, literally seconds can make a clean hit dirty and vice versa, and the NHL takes that into consideration when the deciding factor is clear, distinct, initiated contact with the head. This wasn't that, sorry, it just wasn't.
