September 27th, 2008. Seasoned 15 year veterans "Sugar" Shane Mosley & Ricardo Mayorga aka “El Matador” collided in a bid for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental Light Middleweight Championship.
Both fighters debuted back in 1993 and had a combined total of 26 world title fights at this juncture.
Prefight records; Mosley 44(37)-5, Mayorga 28(22)-6-1.
Entering the bout, the 37 year old Mosley who won world titles at Lightweight, Welterweight & Light Middleweight had notable triumphs over Adrian Stone, Antonio Diaz, Golden Johnson, Wilfredo Rivera, Luis Collazo, Jesse James Leija, John John Molina, Phillip Holiday, Oscar De La Hoya & Fernando Vargas (2x).
On the other hand, the 35 year old Mayorga who held world titles at Welterweight & Light Middleweight had defeated top oppositions such as Andrew Lewis, Fernando Vargas, Michele Piccirillo & Vernon Forrest (2x).
Overall, It was a good fight with Mayorga having the upper hand in the early goings with his unorthodox style which troubled Mosley, who made adjustments in the middle rounds to gradually and eventually break down the rugged Nicaraguan en route to winning the WBA Inter-Continental Light Middleweight Title with his 50th career victory.
From rounds 1 to 3, Mayorga effectively connected with looping right hands by constantly baiting Mosley into his traps.
In round 4, Mosley began to gain momentum and landed a hard overhand right that shook Mayorga.
In round 6, Mosley connected with numerous clean shots on Mayorga who took them well with his seemingly unbreakable chin as he appeared to be unshaken.
Between rounds 7 to 10, Mosley continued to beat Mayorga to the punch in most exchanges although he was occasionally tagged in return.
In round 11, Mosley landed a gargantuan right hook that splattered blood out of Mayorga’s mouth.
In round 12, Mosley knocked Mayorga off his feet with a fusillade of power punches with less than 20 seconds to go but the Granada born warrior was somehow able beat the count in a tremendous display of bravery. However, Sugar Shane ensured the fight would not make it to the scorecards with a picture-perfect left hook to secure the sweet sweep in dramatic fashion as referee David Mendoza waved off the bout with literally 1 second before the final bell.
By CompuBox Stats, the finishing left hook was the 99th power punch connected by Shane Mosley.

The speed and accuracy it takes to slap the 💩 out of that 🚬 without a finger grazing his face. Pure skill!!!😂

These comment is real and I really cried laughing while replying the cigarette slap with the thought of this comment in my head 😂

Likewise! Great highlights.
That right hand slap was flawless
When he slapped the cigarette from Myorgas mouth 😂😂😂
Hahahaha dude the mf ringing the bell tried to save him by ringing it fast as hell before that left landed🤣🤣
Mayorga knew how to promote a fight.
I don’t think that was promotion, they genuinely didn’t care for each other
Mayorga may have gotten finished in the end, but how many CLEAN punches did he eat right on the button? Lmao there was like 3 or 4 that they replayed in slow mo. Insane chin and endurance
Smack the cigarette 🚬 out his Mowf, then a crushing left hook to put him to sleep 😴 Suga Shane 🥊🥊 legend!!!
That was satisfying to watch.
Perfect knockout, right before the ding of the last round, as if it was meant for him to be k.o'ed in the fight
Thank you I keep up with boxing with you tube really appreciate your efforts!
Gracias Shane! 🥊🥊
I love when Mayorga get his ass kicked by Mosley and Dela Hoya
Love Shane he is a warrior God bless him
The presser in the beginning is from their second fight. He was respectful for their first fight. Mayorga was a great fighter, could sell fights.
The presser of the first fight was great too, mayorga promising to send Shane into early retirement
Шейн какой же ты Молодец, просто Красавец.
Mayorga - good boxer, trashy person Mosley - great boxer, decent human being

Yeah, not so cocky now...
He was a decent boxer but a nasty human, Mayorga.
Mosley don’t have no footwork.. flattest I’ve ever seen lbvs
Apparently some of yall didnt wath the whole fight. I was going for shane but shane was really getting his butt swoopped until the last round.
I dont remember him getting whooped but I do remember him looking pretty sloppy and kind of uncoordinated. Mayorga was sloppy af too but thats how he always looks.
Shane is the only african american boxer that I really liked to watch, never run, clean figther, and never took advantage of a fallen rival, or sucker punch anyone, that mayweather was a dirty and coward " boxer".
How did he manage to do the same thing and win for 50 fights. How did a coward beat all these “great” boxers.
🤡
@@RAHEEMMILLNER34 I think what he means by coward is that he didn’t duck or try to win on points like Mayweather.
@@BooBooDaFoo330 a win is a win
@@RAHEEMMILLNER34 some of those wins are questionable, especially the first fight with Castillo.
