He's a gunslinger for sure. He was in college as well. Personally I love to see it. Only a handful of people in NFL history could play that style and have the good still outweigh the bad by a large margin. It requires them to typically succeed on ill-advised throws that many other QBs have no businesses even attempting. I see a lot of Favre in Mahomes and mean that as a huge compliment.

It's easy to criticize Mahomes, but the things that make him infuriating to watch at times, are the things that make him great. There was plenty of blame to go around for the Chiefs first half mini implosion. Their response in the 2nd half is a testament to the coaching staff, and the leaders on the team.

Something happened in the third quarter today and the Chiefs looked like a different team offensively after the terrible Mahomes interception. I think they figured themselves out on that play. Trying just a touch too hard to make plays. After that Mahomes still had all his creativity with the shovel pass and the jump pass, but kept himself under control and it looked to me like he stopped trying so hard. It'll be interesting to see how they play next week. But they felt like a different team after that INT.
They let Mahomes be Mahomes. They've been using the time-of-possession safe offense to begin the season. My guess is to keep the defense from being on the field too long & wearing out. Problem with this strategy it does keep the games closer & you can't afford to make mistakes. They let Mahomes be Mahomes in the 2nd half. The offense was aggressive downfield & we looked like the high-powered Chiefs of old. Screw that other nonsense.
It was against one of the worst defences in the league and teams and it was close till 4th and if Washington had a worthy offence game could of been close or lost need to be better.

yeah, i think that's a symptom of the chiefs' D this year: thinking too hard. clark is remembering the last game where he got a (ridiculous) roughing the passer call on the QB and thought he'd "do the right thing" and get heinecke down easy.

I think after that Superbowl lost and his team letting him down he's going all in trying to play Hero Ball.
As much as I scratch my head at some of those dumb plays Mahomes makes where he’s getting sacked and just throws it up and it gets picked, he sure does make up for it with a handful of unbelievable plays each game. That play where he scrambles out of the pocket and then shovel passed it 8 yards to Kelce, and all the first downs he picked up with his legs today were awesome. KC looked damn good in the second half today.

The thing is... that´s what was supposed to happen for 3 years now and hadn´t. Sure he has had a lot of dumb picks this year, but he has been doing the same since he entered the league and more times than not he comes out of it on top. KC and Reid have to start to figure out ways to win games that don´t involve him having to do magic every other play because for each apparently easy throw the gameplan has there are seemingly 2 or 3 where the play breaks down and he has to scramble around making something out of nothing.
The touchdown at 10:51 was due to our new OL. It's so good to see. Good instinct by Williams too to cut back to the left.

i don't know if it's overreaction as much as it is misinformation. he's still playing great, there have just been a few unfortunate bounces of the ball. half of his INTs aren't even his fault, and other picks have been the result of trying to cover up for a terrible defense which can make many great QBs press too much. but these haters are buying into bullshit narratives that mahomes isn't himself this season because they read a tweet that tells us how many interceptions he has in the past however many games. totally missing context but people run with it because they want any excuse to hate on him. he truly is the most relevant and important player in this league based on the amount of loser haters he has.

The picks that were his fault came at momets where the defense was a wet paper bag and the offense was stumbling and he felt he had to make something happen to stay in the game. Most of his bad 5 picks came right after a fumble or hill handing the ball right to them so he was clearly pushing and once he stops that we'll be good
I never seen Brady throw the ball blindly in the air multiple times unless its a hail mary to the endzone, Brady would take the sack. Mahomes and his team won lots of close games last year bc of the low turnover they had and a top 10 pass defense, now the defense is rank 32 all over and the offense lead the league in turnovers, that's going to make a big difference against playoff teams for sure. Even last year, they barely blew out any team, 80% of their games were decided by a td or less, these large amount of turnovers are going to be the deciding factor, can't even blame injuries this time.

Defense well done. Offense still plagued by 3 turnovers, the difference of whether or not they put up big points despite the turnovers is besides the point. The games they’ve played good teams the turnovers lose the game. A win is a win, but I wouldn’t say this was an impressive win by any stretch. Tyreek and mahommes need to do better and have an attitude about the mistakes.

Patrick Mahomes had a great 2nd half performance for the Chiefs offense and the KC defense shut down Washington.

P.M. a badd man! He won that game with all the jump/side arm passes. Its a good thing when your the best in the league on 3rd down conversions. Chiefs defense just missing a few pieces (talent), and that may hinder their push late in season. Good luck to you Chief fans though. You guys have many years with P.M. so at the least, 2 more rings in the coming years, but not 2021.

I mean KC has to work on the turnovers and defense before they are going anyway in the playoffs. Those are tough to watch. The high power offense is still there but teams figure out how to defend them now. Take away big players and forces errors, if KC wants to remain as the juggernaut, they have to tidy up quick!
Chiefs showed they can deal with their opponents taking away the deep ball, by throwing underneath. They also showed they can beat the 2 deep safeties by using Tyreek as a decoy and leaving a tall wr 1on1 with the DB, this is potentially why they picked up Josh Gordon. They showed this in 1 or 2 plays in the 2nd half, 1 was a TD pass to D rob. Idk if it'll work everytime but they def showed they can manipulate it. I'm sure they have several more plays that do the same thing in a different way, waiting to be used at the right time.

This was a statement game for them. They needed this game! Mahomes is one that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The #Chiefs are averaging an NFL-high 3.2 points per drive (nobody even close) despite having *9* turnovers inside the opponent's 40-yard line. Absurdly good offense. If they get the turnovers under control it will be a wrap!!!! Spags sitting Sorenson and Nieman for Thornhill and Gay has already kick started the Defense. Move Chris Jones back inside when he comes back
This is possibly the best Offense we've ever seen. Back in 2018 they could've had 38.7 ppg if they ran up the continued to score in the 2nd half. Most teams they beat got blown out in the first half and the Chiefs stopped scoring all together after that.

Receivers have to hang on to the ball with defenders in their area. Then they will be less frequent.
In Mahomes' defense, he's had a lot of drops and deflections from receivers who miss and then it lands in the defense's hands.
Highlights are so much better than suffering through endless, game-delaying ads and boring announcers droning on and on, sometimes ignoring the game.

Mathieu is part of the problem. If you watch him play he is always out of place. He makes everybody else have to work double to cover his spot.

The Chiefs are in pretty rough shape this year. They should've blown the Washington Generics away with the talent they have. Washington is a horrible franchise. As it is, the Chiefs struggled through half the game.

I think it's because they picked up Clyde in the first round. So they feel obligated to use him.
@@ffamosobrian Clyde gains a few yards then falls to the ground, he doesn't have the explosiveness to break tackles for big gains. We would do better bringing back Damien Williams once he's over his Covid.

Was at the game. D still off. No pressure on that front line. Adjustments need to be made. Tyran running around pointing at people should go to the ball. O was a little off but adjusted second half. Darrel Williams should be our starting RB. Has power and longevity. The O line still needs tweeked. And yes if Mahomes held the ball instead of throwing a lollipop we would have had a 42 yrd field goal. Tie score at half....

It is amazing the Chiefs can make so many mistakes and still win a game like this. You can't be last in the league in defense and first in turnovers! The Chiefs have not adapted to the 8-man drop back worth a darn. They remind me of a baseball team that can't win without a lot of home runs. You pitch around those hitters and the team strands base runners and can't score. The Chiefs are letting a 3 man rush terrorize the backfield and can't play the short game. Get it together guys.
Did you watch the 2nd half? They showed they know how to play the short game 100% and still get 10-15 yards out of it. They also showed they can manipulate the 2 deep safeties and beat them. They used tyreek as a decoy and leave a tall wr 1on1 against a DB.
@@slim7406 Where was it with the Chargers, Bills and first half of this game? They are in last place with 6 games gone and leading the league in turnovers. Chiefs were lucky Washington could only cough up a measly 13 points in the first half off two interceptions and a fumble recovery plus all their own possessions. I mean the Chiefs scored 10 just playing horrible giving up the ball three times. Washington should have been running away with the game at the half. The short game is actually secondary to the turnovers and dumb mistakes like dropped 3rd down passes and critical penalties.

Based on some of the comments here, I can't believe I watched the same game. KC is a talented team who got off to a bad start. I think some of the people hating are secretly scared shitless that they may have just watched the Chiefs begin their turnaround.

@@ceerawlins3412 we shall see…if Kc just figured it out even a bit they will be back. Benching Dirty Dan was a huge first step he shouldn’t have been playing. Thornhill proved he is a starter he was all over the field. Chris Jones should be back soon so they will have pass rush presence again. Offense in the 2nd half looked more like KC. If they figure it out then they will be dominate rest of the year if they look out of sync than it’s gonna be tough.

Nothing against CEH, but Williams is beasting
Chiefs got stuck with a brutal schedule at the beginning of this year. In the first 5 games they had to play four teams that have elite (or well above average QB's.) It's a tough road having to defend Mayfield, Lamar, Herbert and Josh Allen in 4 of the first 5 games. Defense looked much better in this game (granted it was against Washington's offense).
That's just the modern NFL. There's alot of good QB's right now
