  • This mechanized, megascale fishing has been going on all over the world's oceans for nearly 100 years now. (I've been at it myself for a little while). That's why there's not much left. We're chasing smaller and smaller catches with bigger and bigger boats. Can't end well.

  • Factory ships like this are the reason the numbers of fish in the ocean are dramatically decreasing. Moreover, they just throw away the fish they don't want. Because of a severe lack of concern for preservation of the fish in the worlds oceans, they are disappearing. When they are gone, they're gone. Then what?

    • It’s well known big scale over fishing by Americans and Europeans caused depletion of fishes and tuna fishing by Japanese is almost wiped out tuna species. But, the usual propaganda always blaming China instead. To me every country over fish especially those big commercial American and European fishing fleets.

  • This is the equal to the gigantic mega farm business which has very little if any oversight and puts the smaller farms and ranches out of business because there is no way they can afford to compete with this absolute blatant greed and arrogant misuse of available resources. UGHLY, bad for the oceans ability to repair itself and worse for the average markets.

    • Yessir, these draggers are like rakes in a garden - making everything smooth - which is the death knell to species - they need structure to grow and hide - that's why we sink old ships, subway cars, huge pieces of concrete - to make structure.
