I appreciate it 😊
Thank you this video just made me the GOAT in goalie
Glad to hear it😊
As a new goalkeeper this is so helpful. I’m a little confused on the goal kick and when we do it. P
You use a goal kick when the ball leaves the pitch on your side of the pitch without it touching your team
@@OP1GK oh ok thank you
It's good, don't give up posting videos like this because they motivate us thank u
Glad to hear that
I'm New to being a goalie and not good at much but your videos have taught me a lot thanks and the least I can do is sub😎
Thank you 😊
Thanks for the drills. Positioning is something I rlly need to work on so amazing video 👍
Thank you 😊
Some great content here mate, the only caveat I could add would be that positioning should be mainly based on what you feel comfortable with whilst between the sticks. For example, my base position for shots tends to be further than average 4-5 yards from the goal line as this is where I feel most comfortable in the closing of the angle for the attacker while giving myself enough time to react to shots coming in. Also, you don't happen to be based in Southhampton do you as I recognise the Astro facility you are using to be the one beside the train station.
That's fair enough. I given a position which on average goalkeepers use and like you said you like to be higher up and that's fair enough, many goalkeepers like to have more of an aggressive position. Maybe, maybe not I guess we will never know
@@OP1GK Fair enough, as I said it was the only caveat I could think of and it's a small one at that. Keep up the content mate will probably help quite a few GKs out there. Eh it was a punt in the dark just looked familiar to the place I've played a few games at.
Best gk KZheadr
Thank you 😊

And it didn't help for me, because nobody is talking about how to not be scared to fall and how to fall and jump correctly
@@prokzee2230this is a positioning video not a diving video. Go watch my video on diving without fear and it will help.
Since you are a experience keeper , I want your opinion on me buying goalie gloves. The thing is that it is to play for a friendly in a turf with my friends. Should I buy it?

Bro this guy is underrated bro gives such good tips respect he only has 8k subs but I sometimes watch goalkeepers with 1mil subs and they only say that you need to have gloves for 200 dollars
Thank you so much 😊🙏
I actualy open some space cuz It helps me to know where is the striker is gonna shoot and I will easly catch the Ball . It is my method and it works on me.
I only really see this kind of working on angled shots
@@OP1GK yeah You right
I am your fan
This is quite helpful! I have a 6 year old who may be asked to play GK in his tournament this weekend and I need something to help him quickly.
I wish the best of luck 🤞
I actually thing being more to the left or right is better if your tall because lev yashin used that and most people would shoot to the open side so he would know where they would shoot
That's true but it's a very risky play
hello. i would appreciate if you made a help video for short gks
Will do 👍

Hey bro, im goalkeeper and thi s vid has helped me alot. But I'm scared of diving because there a bunch of small stones. And I'm afraid of doing a rush. Can u help me decrease my fear?
I'd recommend not to dive on stones to start with as that will cause bruises. To get over the fear you must dive on a soft surface before slowly starting to play on grass. Also work on your technique so that way your more confident in yourself when you dive.
@@OP1GK in my area there are stones and the other side is grassy

how to deal with powershots like saving them and prevent injuries
Develop good technique Develop good strength and mobility Ensure when catching a powerful shot to cushion the ball in by pulling back your arms as if you're trying to catch an egg Ensure when parrying to tense your wrists and attack the ball to redirect it motion

Hey bro i have a question, if i am 14 i have any expirience as a goalkeeper, and i am not good enough to be on a team to my age, what can i do to train myself?
Lots of teams nowadays look for goalkeepers to be good in the distribution region. So work on your ball control, goalkicks, side volleys, weak foot and throws.
@@OP1GK ok thanks.
@@OP1GK btw are there any affordable football shoes that you can recommend me? My shoes kind of suck
@@mtn2704 no I'm not an expert myself on shoes
@@OP1GK what shoes do you have then?
What 8f the striker is coming in from center to wide?
*if
You would realign to be in the centre of the goal in correspondence with the ball. So you would start in the centre like where the ST is and as the ST moves with the ball wide then you would follow along and move to be centred with the balls new position

just watched this after got caught of the line 😌
Fair enough
Im pretty short as a goalkeeper, 172cm, any tips goalie friendz?
Work on your plyometrics, distribution and positioning. Work on your strengths. Work on your mental side
How to save 2v1?
Very difficult and almost impossible. You need to press but not over press and get close but not too close. Very difficult to explain and actually achieve. Don't worry if someone scores in a 2v1 as you're not really meant to save them due to the heavy disadvantage.
Man I am 15 and I don't have a ground for practising

I disagree with the advice on being 3 feet from goal line at all times WHEN THE SHOOTER IS OUTSIDE THE PK BOX. ( like a 20 yarder shot or a free kick ). I usually back up to the line because depending on HOW the shooter kicks the ball, the trajectory of the ball can drop downward and over you if you stand 3 feet or more from goal line. From the goal line , I can read the trajectory of the shot and step forward in a 45 degree to the shot and make the save. It is harder to step backwards and reach with opposite arm in attempt to save the shot.
Well I disagree with you here. To begin with you can't stand on the goal line as that is bad in fact it's worse. On the goal line it'll be harder for you to save shots which are heading to the side. Being 3 steps in front of your line means you can cover more of the goal but it is incredibly difficult for the attacker to get the ball up and over you in fact that chance of happening is 1 in 50 which is like good odds for you. If an attacker hits the ball good to the side not even well and you're on your goal line then you're screwed even more. If you play at higher levels then you will understand that being 3 steps of your goal line is better than if you're closer. Some professional goalkeepers stand on the 6 yard box for these shots. I've played pro in Spain so I can ensure this information is all valid.
@@OP1GK most shots have a trajectory curving downwards as it approach near the goal so it goes over you if you are too far out. Like i said it depends on what type of shot it is. If it is a POWER SHOT , straight and hard , then yes stand out more forward. If you are 6 foot 3 inches tall or higher, you can easily stand out on 6 yard line because you have the long arm span to deflect those shots. Even for 12 year old kids starting on 11v11 fields with full size goals, they cannot stand out too far because most kids at that age shoot the ball with a downward trajectory at end of the shot. Goalies reach for it when they are out but it goes down after it passes their hand. If they stand on the line and run as it they are doing a basketball layup, they have a better chance of saving it.
@@adewey33 most shots goes down due to gravity. You just said that it depends but said if it is a power shot you should stand higher. How are you going to know what shot it will be before the shot is taken? Don't have to be 6'3 to stand too high up. You need good agility, power and jumping. This is where you become super self centred. You are expecting me to guide 12 year olds on where to stand when starting out in goal. But then if I do that and you grow taller and old you will complain that it isn't correct because you shouldn't stand on the goal line. Make it make sense. I'm thinking about the overall population of goalkeepers and teaching everyone the rights and wrongs. Like I said I've played professionally so I know what I'm talking about. If you're 12 then work on your jumping and adapt to your circumstances. As you grow older you will realise that I was correct.
