This video shows gameplay with all characters in Sonic Superstars Plus for Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox and PC. I played a Zone with each character. The character roster consists of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Trip.

Yeah, tails could have his death flickies and possibly more fluffy fur, knuckles could be purple/pink and probably spiky and Amy could have a upgraded pico pico hammer and have the spikes flare up like sonic, that's all just my personal ideas though, it'd also be nice if the lego forms, modern Amy and the beta sonic design could also have super forms but it's a lot more understandable that they don't

Knuckles kinda had one back in the day with his pink colored super form but yeah it's a shame those three get the bare minimum. Hell, the new character got a crazy unique super form as well.
Knuckles used to be pink and Tails was a gold yellow almost similar to Sonic. I want to know what happened to those.
Those colors aren't canon it's just a sprite thing of their pigments getting brighter when they transform its basically supposed to be the super aura heros properly represented their color upon transformation

So Trip gets a unique super form that literally changes her physical anatomy. But Tails and Knuckles can’t be given their Super forms from Sonic 3, and Amy can’t be given her own proper Super form. Missed opportunity SEGA. Massive missed opportunity.
Super forms that are not part of the story are not canon, so they have no changes because they are only extras

Not many people may have noticed but when collecting all 7 emeralds the text for each character is different. Sonic says he unlocked super sonic And Amy knuckles and tails say they now have super powers. Meaning these are explicitly not super forms for them and literally just a power up.

Sonic became yellow. That’s it. That’s how super has always worked. Super tails from sonic 3 looked the exact same as superstars super tails since he’s already yellow so they made him a lighter shade of yellow. Amy never had a super form so they gave her a pink shade like super knuckles from sonic and knuckles and mania. And knuckles just doesn’t have the same form as before
Agreed it's pretty disappointing, they all just glow slightly yellow. I would've loved to see Knuckles actually turn bright yellow and see his quills stand up straight or something brand-new. No reason to do the same-old same-old
I personally love knuckles OG super form, him having a pink color made him feel unique and it grew on me. I agree tails looks the same minus the fact he’s missing his bird pals, amy not going yellow is sad I was interested in seeing her super and sonic is sonic lol
the super form gives sonic a new look as well as new animations, just saying "sonic became yellow" and "That’s how super has always worked" is really disingenuous. tails knuckles and Amy all deserve batter that's the point.

Trips super form is super cool and ultimately unique, but there's things that make it less enjoyable than just regular super form You can't do any loops unless you hit a spring, vertical movement is super sluggish, acceleration is really slow, and the fire breath is kinda useless

Long ass comment incoming! Originally it was because sonic was simply that guy. Knux being able to go super and hyper with the chaos and super emeralds just like sonic in 3, compared to tails only being able to go super with the super emeralds was a showcase of knux being on a similar power level to sonic, and tails not quite being there, but the reason Sonic's super form actually looks different is because something something echidna prophecy that predicts doomsday zone In adventures 1 and 2, I'm assuming the fact that sonic can actually do chaos control is why, and it's consistent across the rest of the pre-colors era that only characters capable of using chaos control get actual super forms (burning blaze is Sonic's counterpart in her dimension (which gets fucked by 06 but we're ignoring that), so it's likely that's why she gets her own "super" form) (As a side note to SA1 in particular, Sonic's whole thing up unleashed is that he's the embodiment of positivity, and everything good in the world, hence things like sonic being the savior in the abusive relationship undertones of secret rings, and him absorbing dark Gia's energy during the night in unleashed, but instead of his personality flipping on it's head like everyone else, he changes physically into the werehog. In sa1, chaos absorbs negative energy, but sonic, being the embodiment of positivity, transforms into super sonic because he as a character is the counter to negativity) After 06 it kinda just became... a sonic thing? I guess? And even then, in story it only happened in unleashed and Gens Idk why tails is capable of going super in mania and superstars, considering the super emeralds aren't canon, but I'm assuming it's for consistency with every other character So yeah, recap, originally it was because he was the chosen one in the echidna prophecy, in adventure, it's likely because sonic represents positivity, and it manifests into super sonic through the chaos emeralds, in sa2 and 06, probably because sonic and the other super characters can actually use chaos control, in every other game... idfk, stuff happened

I always had the headcanon that the explanation of male hedgehogs being the only ones to achieve a true Super Form is both true, but also false in a sense; I think it's purely coincidental (in-universe) that male hedgehogs are the only ones from the main dimension who achieve a true Super, and more that each male hedgehog had something particularly special about them that allowed them to go Super. Not quite sure about Trip's reasoning for becoming a Dragon as I've yet to play the game, but as for why any other characters (aside from Blaze, since she's from another dimension and uses said dimension's Emeralds) get these supposed "Lazy Super Forms" is that these forms aren't even truly Super Forms at all, just a massive set of buffs to their abilities (like how just a single Emerald can grant a new power). This is also why I never complained about the "Super Forms" in Sonic Heroes for Tails and Knuckles, because it's not only not much different from how they operate in the classic games (ignoring the maturity inconsistency for Tails specifically), but it's also consistent. Of course, that's just my take on it.

Sadly they aren't coming back. Hyper sonic and the super emeralds were a one time thing. Just like werehog sonic, excalibur sonic, etc. This was confirmed via an interview with a sonic game dev (can't remember their name, you'll have to look it up) Sonic was proposed to transform into Hyper Sonic for the final boss of the Frontiers DLC but that was rejected by Sega. So yeah, I think it's safe to say the Hyper forms are long gone.

Some folks think it’s messed up that Trip to get a unique super form before Tails, Amy and Knuckles but even Mecha Sonic Mk 2 and Metal Sonic got unique super forma before they did. With any gem really. The Phantom Ruby form from Mania, the Super Emerald form from IDW.

At least Hyper Knuckles was still somewhat pinker, despite SEGA's hate-boner for individual super forms other than Super Sonic and to some degree, Trip. If you ask me, they need to work on Turbo Tails and Atomic Amy, changing their colors and spiky-ing up their spikes/hair.

I like trips super form being able to fly and having one of the most unique forms, but jesus christ its clunky af, its so slow to maneuver and its weird to use, you can hardly go over a loop with her form, even if you are in the ground its still slow

Because the super forms that do not appear in the story are not canon, they are just an extra of the gameplay that is why they do not have changes
Question: Why does Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Silver, Blaze, Trip, Mighty, Ray, Chaos, the Flickies, Gemerl, and Mecha Sonic MK2 have super forms and Fang doesn't? Maybe the chaos emeralds doesn't effect him.
Only Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Mecha Sonic and Silver canonically have super forms. Everyone else's "Super Forms" are just included as a fun bonus, thats why they have no detail and just slightly glow.

@@mayotails4602 He only turned pink because red and white actually end up being pink and since in Superstars there isn't that white flash that appeared in the super forms of the old games he ended up just being red, Knuckles' super form unfortunately never had anything special.
Dragon thing was just weird, also would be good if they had the chaos emeralds as one transformation and the super emeralds to transform into hyper level, i guess the super emeralds are the new thing as that's what they transformed back in sonic 3, i would love to see Hypersonic, hyper Nuckels and Super/hyper tails with the birds make a comeback. when knuckles glides/hits a wall and kills everything on the screen was OP same as sonic when he uses the dash, it felt like sonic was one of them charters that u have to build up to get the real reward, hypersonic is the best game play.
