You think sword and shield with heavy armor, magic resistance on shield, fire on sword, and health up on everything else would be feasible? Obviously you make your own armor and would use potions and enchanted items to boost your gear and enchantments. Levels would be a mix of hp and stamina but more hp than stamina. Breton for the magic resistance too.
Just an FYI, killmoves ignore armor so increasing health is actually paramount, because if an attack would kill you if you had no armor, you have a chance of kill moves. This means that if you have 50 hp, and 50 armor, and the enemy does 50 damage per hit, that should do (I’m just guesstimating) 40 damage. You should live, right? Except since he can kill you if you have no armor, he has a chance of kill move.
im only ten minutes in and I'm already board as hell. legendary in vanilla skyrim is just boring. like the only thing that would make this interesting is using mods that mirror the game like a souls game. otherwise every enemy is just a hit sponge or a wall and it takes way to long to fight just one enemy. no dodging no parrying no deflection attacks. just pure boring use flames and my weapon on the target. i could play skyrim vanilla legendary as well. but i can't do this for the entire game as it's super boring.

@@yamato-qi3es The restoration loop is an exploit. The fortify restoration potion was intended to fortify the magnitude of restoration spells. Not increase the magnitude of your enchanted gear. And not become stronger til you literally CTD due to values the game can't handle. Ergo, its cheating Thank you go back to Adept level mate.

Alexander S also I have beaten the game on legendary 6 time one was semi-exploit the other ones where legit and with side quests but the legendary difficulty is not good for the game it’s poorly designed so I normally play on expert. Skyrim isn’t like dark souls where you can have sl 1 no upgrade and easily play on new game +3 if you have skills you need to plan your gear and skills really well
If you want to play legendary: be prepared to lose to every dragon and never one shot mudcrabs again

You guys are ridiculous. I routinely play on legendary. And I’m usually dragon ready by level 35-40. And I’ve two shot dragons. You have to have maxed out smithing, high level potions, at least level 80 in enchanting (but you ought to just get it to 100 to unlock second enchantment) alteration up to 70 to get the magic resistance perks, and that’s pretty much it. Make your gear, make your weapons, enchantment them, and make your potions. If you combine all that with Marked for Death shout, dragons are a joke, even on legendary. If you guys want a really good legendary guide, check out MajorSlackAttack’s KZhead channel. Dude it legit for legendary walkthroughs. When I first started playing Skyrim, I started out playing legendary following this guy.

From when I've played Legendary Mode, all I remember is that it comes down to two things: Kiting enemies while abusing their pathing (or lack of), and zigzagging constantly when archers are involved.
here is how it works: -grind for money by mining/crafting in safe locations (mines that aren't full of hostiles) get smithing as high as you can -join the college of winterhold -buy muffle, invisibility and equipment that reduces illusion cost and magika regeneration -grind up illusion, get illusion spell cost as low as you can, get silent casting -join the dark brotherhood to get the shrouded hand wraps -join the thieves guild to get a load of cash and train sneak without needing to actually fight -get all the sneak attack damage perks -make the strongest dagger you can from this point on you can sneak perfectly everywhere, your back stab does 30X damage and you can just disappear again after attacking. alternative strat: instead of joining the thieves guild and focusing on back stab, grind up conjuration by casting soul trap on a corpse, get the summon dremora spell, reduce conjuration cost to 0 by enchanting and have the dremoras kill your enemies while you're invisible.

@@windhelmguard5295 Unfortunately for me, my Legendary Mode run was a pure Two-Handed Warrior, the only magic I used were Shouts, and I did no sneaking, poison, etc. But let me tell ya, once you get Unrelenting Force (3 words), Slow Time (3 words), and Become Ethereal (1 word is enough), you become practically unstoppable.

One thing I really like about Legendary, is it makes the early game a lot more focused, as in you need to actually plan out a battle before hand so you aren't one shot.
Problem is though this isn't built to be a strategy game. This isn't D&D where you have friends and plenty of time to think. Sure you get companions but they're dumb as bricks, and the game isn't fair when it comes to encounters in general. You're either over prepared or you're not getting far

@@alpharabbit2353 I mean, I was fighting just an hour ago on my first legendary attempt, got through bleak falls, and was making pretty decent work of the draugur, taking advantage of the traps, and if they used double handed weapons, I'd just wait until they slash and light attack once or twice. You have to be more controlling overall, but not focus as much on damage I find, even leading enemies away to a more 1v1 situation or somewhere again, like a trap which can deal lots of damage to them. It's like witcher 3 and diablo 2 for me in that sense, which I also play those on the hardest modes, that you need to take your time with every fight much more.

Not one hit if you spec into health as your leveling my character with 400 health dosnt get one shot but maybe 2 to 3 shot
But your one/two handed weapon skill flies up. I was level 70 before I even got to lv25 on my character. With the skill damage modifiers and duel wielding maxed out I was chewing through a lot of enemies pretty early on.
My level 100 character feels otherwise maybe 3 or 4 shotted yes especially more difficult now that i downloaded mods that makes it even more difficult..

As mentioned, it is just a grind fest as enemies health just get crazy high. It doesn't have to be harder, if you play boring and do what you can to negate weaknesses, which is possible.

When you come out of the cave there is a bandit camp with a one handed skill book and a treasure map and the chest is in Riverwood, it’s a good little starting bonus for a play through like this
Those bandits will shit on you since there are 3 of them, if you have to do it then lure hadvar and he'll handle most of them.

Best skills for Legendary (for me anyway) in the early game: (No particular order) 1. Conjuration. Your summons do more damage than you and have more health. Just let the enemy focus on them and whack away. You can also summon something that counters your enemy's weakness. For example: If you're fighting a troll, summon a flame atronach. 2. Block. Blocking and shield-bashing will save your life more than you'd think and the "Deflect arrows" perk negates all damage from enemy archers. 3. Restoration. In the early game, decent healing potions are quite rare and having an unlimited source of healing is super useful. At only 40 restoration, you have access to these perks: Regeneration (Healing spells cure 50% more), Recovery (Magicka regenerates 25% faster) and Respite (healing spells also regenerate stamina)

Legendary is hard. But it isn't impossible. You focus on EVERYTHING. Your enchanting, speach, alchemy, become so much more important. You realize the importance of your perks and peek points as well as skill levelling. You wont be one shotting anything until around level 45 or so... You'll spend a lot of time prioritizing protection over pure damage. Sure, balls to the wall warrior pure combat builds still work, but boy you better be prepared for every fight to be like a boss, and you better know that you won't be fighting jack shit for a minute. That cool armor you just got is nice, but you better make enchantments for better smithing and potions for it as well, and have the perk points to back it up. Everything. Counts. Everything. Is. Death. You'll find yourself picking flowers, catching bees, and other random shit. You have to level everything that matters all at once. Mages are a bitch that will haunt you forever, and anyone with the balls to attack you definitely has the muscle to back it up. See that random event guy who looks dangerous? He is, his power attack will end you. Hell. It's hell. You find that the shit you ignored before is useful, and you have to find ways to still gain money while buying training and shit. Absolutely insane but God it is so fun. You really do start off as a quaint little weak ass prisoner who needs to help the people of skyrim with the most basic tasks... Just for some cash, training, and other stuff. The feeling of accomplishment and power is that much greater. Skyrim truly becomes a force to be reckoned with.

I agree in general, but you overdramatize too much. Enemies hit hard and have tons of hp. You need to play slightly more optimized than usual and have a few comsumables for major battles at the end of the dungeon. That’s pretty much it, don’t be afraid of trying out legendary.
"You have to level everything that matters all at once." No, that's what fucks you over, cause you spread yourself too thin while the world scales with your level. You want to pick a focus combat style until your skills hit at least 50, then you can mess around a bit.

I think the most "fair" level to play on is Expert. You deal some damage to your foes, but you still can lose very easily, BUT you still can feel as a fokin DRAGONBORN.
I prefer adept because I feel very powerful, but not invinvible.
I play on master. You get slightly more challenge without everything taking 3000 hits to kill like on legendary

Get the Aetherial Crown, Find Nari's dead sister in the river, then after he gives you all those ingredients, with the ritual stone on the crown, kill him, raise him, remove crown and replace, rinse and repeat... no loss of a follower and, after knowing his story, I pity his life, plus it knocks out one of the first dark brotherhood quests...
and i always pick fendal because of leveling the bow for free...

@@TTVtsrgame no destruction. you can improve your bow and swords with smithing. you can do the same for armor. with can enchant all of those as well to make them stronger. however there is no smithing improvements or enchantments that will increase your spell damage. the only crafting tree that increases it is alchemy, in which you need to constantly craft and carry around boost potions to temporarily boost your spell damage. this is on top of the added magika potions you'll need which brings up the other handicap of having a limited magika pool. to fix that completely (100% reduction), you'll need to use up quite a bit of enchantment slots that could have been used elsewhere further handicapping yourself. plus theres no weapon to enchant with useful effects such as paralysis or life steal (vampire life steal spells are way too weak to be useful on legendary). i can easily make a weapon where the enchantments alone out dps magic spells. i took a magic built character i made, threw on 100% free magic gear i made, turned it to legendary, and aimed the master level lightning spell at a frost troll for 5 solid minutes and only took out about half his hp. i got bored, switched to my bow, and 1-shot the second half of his hp. thats just sad

11:35 "Targets on fire take extra damage" refers to the damage over time effect. Your other damage (sword swings, etc.) does not increase.
I looked this up on the wiki. Targets on fire DO take extra damage from other weapons in addition to burning DoT, though the damage increase is small.

I actually just started a playthrough on Legendary Mode. All I did was Heavy Armor Stealth Archer until I was good enough to not get one-shotted by a skeever.
I know this was about a year ago, but word of advice: While playing Stealth Archer, don't use heavy armor; If you're goal is to be in stealth all the time, you are never going to be hit, and therefore you do not need heavy armor. Ultimately, heavy armor just ends up being a burden, as it hinders your ability to sneak.
@@lwk.the_father Not when your sneak is high enough. Stealth archer isn't always perfect, you're bound to get into fights occasionally. When you do, not getting one shot because of your 37 armor rating is always good.
@@Zhujl If you are playing Stealth Archer, why wouldn't your sneak be high enough. If sneaking is all you do for the entire game, then it should easily be level 100. Once you hit level 100 in sneak, you can just get the last perk and when you get detected sneak a ton and basically become invisible. And if you are using light armor, you won't be detected as much.

Leveling enchanting takes a lot of soul gems, and the size of them doesn't matter at all, since the amount of exp you get per enchant is always the same, so, don't sell them. They're also good for money if you manage to get the banish daedra enchant.
I did it today and using the mage stone and well rested plus the lover "special crown thingy" it took 156 stones luckily I run around soul trapping everything I can just for the gold and weapon recharges

Banish D. and Sneak are the most valuable enchantments. For Training just go to Tel Mithryn, Neloth . Train till 90 by selling and brewing: Garlic, Nordic B., Salmon R. ez game

Bleak Falls Barrow is a training mission. A very good one. It shows you a lot of different challenges and enemies but not too difficult. So it is varied and rewarding. Even the giant spider is a 'wounded giant spider'. Love it. It also rewards exploration by hiding things in obscure places, even after all these years I still find things in surprising places in Bleak Falls. Great video on Legendary. I must admit being reluctant to try it. Tried Expert when trying to find pieces of the Gauldar Amulet, kept getting one shot by the bosses and I wasn't even that low a level, so the reforging would be a nightmare.

Remember that the thalmor have been defeated in Hammerfall by the Redguards without the help of the Empire. The Nords will do the same thing together with the dragonborn just like how Tiber Septim conquered the world with his shouts before.

Last week I started my first legendary run, perfect timing! I’m also playing no mods and without fast travel for immersion. First 15 levels are epic if you stick to the easier quests. Im also a breton playing as a battle mage mostly conjuration, one handed, heavy armor and alteration. I don’t use many potions so there’s a lot of loading. I’m currently level 25 and still rocking an unimproved steel armor. I wanted to be an alchemist for the first time but it’s too overwhelming so after getting the blades armor I will power level enchanting and alchemy.
23:05 Illusion is easier. Just spam the Muffle spell, and you can hit Level 100 Illusion in just 20 minutes.

The Aetherium and Ahzidal side quests are my favorite in the entire game, amazing unique items, a lot of areas or objectectives to complete, and unique puzzles (for skyrim standards).

Trading shots with a giant on legendary after spending dozens hours running from them backwards shooting arrows in the early game makes the whole damn play-through worth it.
The "extra damage" from fire effects actually refers to the short period of time that the enemy burns after the spell hits. Usually around one or two seconds I think. Other sources of damage don't do more damage during the taper effect.
It's great when you combine Fire with Dual Casting and Impact. Dual cast firebolt, stun them while they are on fire, magicka refreshes, hit them again ... repeat until they fall down dead while your magicka meter hardly moves.

How to beat legendary Skyrim: Step 1: Choose Orc Step 2: Remove all armor Step 3: Acquire some cool war axes Step 4: Use Orc race power (get angry) Step 5: Stand in a field or cave for a full day after every fight. Repeat steps 4 and 5. That’s definitely the only way... right?

Hey Irish, Fire spells work by setting the target on fire and for the duration of the flaming target, they will take extra fire damage from the spell itself.

Hints for beggining (in my experience at least): - after escaping Helgen, get the 3 bandits that are almost in front of your position by using hadvar or the other guy, they drop a treasure map near Riverwood - For a mage, being at the position of were you came, go left to get a thalmor robe - until you get the golden claw, riverwood will be open 24/7 - after getting a follower, go back to helgen and go the way to the mountain of the graybeards, you will encounter a group of dead khajit and 3-4 bandits + before arriving the village near the graybeards mountain you arrive in the alchemist shack, a free safe point to keep itens early game
Don't trust chests outside your house too much. Also, those dead bandits sound exactly like a random event.
@@pyroparagon8945 yeah, but this shack in specific have an endtable that will not respawn itens, I actually checked the wiki before writing, just to be sure. The khajit caravan event is 100% after you escape Helgen, but if you do more than the golden claw quest, it will disappear.

That one wishing stone lets u absorb 50% magic and perks let u absorb 30% more plus 30% resistance. Plus dragonborn armor gives u 35% magic absorbsion for a total of 115%. So u are immune to all attacks from mages and dragons lol

highest resistance is 80% but you can get more with absorbation wich add multiplicative

@@meatcube858 undead perk makes all magic against undead 15% stronger. So if u are vampire lord all active abilities and skills on yourself get an extra 15% boost 😉 only downside is u absorb conjuration spells and nullify.

Targets on fire don’t take any damage from subsequent attacks. That tooltip is just referring to the dot that is applied. In other words, when you hit someone with flames, it just applies a dot effect and that is all.
Of note: that DoT effect is self-stacking. The flames spell is most effective if you rapidly pulse it at the target to maximize the extra DoT.

The damage controversy of skyrim: As you level up and spend skill points, all enemies gain a set value of strength per skill point. We got mods like requiem for true Legendary difficulty, or SkyRe Proc Patcher that randomizes encounters and completely overhauls AI

I played legendary I made it so far without dying but I ended up dying at level 33. I was a Breton with the lord stone active and I was agent of mara plus a vampire with a amulet of resist fire I had insane magic resistance and yet it was a mage that killed me
2:14 you can reach the magic resistance cap with a Breton with no enchantments on your gear. Breton blood - 25%, Magic Resistance Perk - 30%, Lord Stone - 25%, Agent of Mara - 15%, giving you a theoretical 95% magic resistance (capped at 85%)

At least with Faendahl being useless he won’t steal all your kills. Also James, Blue mountain flowers and Wheat make Restore health and Fortify health potions, so take advantage of that.

@@TheIvangallo Bandit camp near Whiterun, forget the name of it, the one that is poaching mammoths, at the very end of it, you can find one of the two Transmute Spell Books in the game. It allows you to, one by one, turn iron into silver, and then gold, and then repeat the process. With it, you can make massive amounts of jewelry, grind smith xp, enchante them in bulk, and then start selling the maxxive piles of rings for as much as the town your in can handle.

Just get the Azhdial ring that gives you freeze and ignite, ignite stacks with its self without a cap, spam single handed bolts until things get close then impact them into staggers and they burn up to a crisp in moments no matter the difficulty. Get the fire mask from the same dungeon and you do more damage. The usual perks also stack its damage up. Marked for death shout also stacks with itself, even lowering armor into the negatives allowing you to one hit anything given enough time.

@@martyr3378 thats the thing though. They refused to ally with the nords because they are just as power hungry as the thalmor. Theyd rather play politics and execute anyone whos smell they dont like. The nords haven't a choice and have been violated by both sides. The imperials haven't been bothered by either and just saw an opportunity for political power.
@@g.h7657 Sorry if I misunderstood you, but are you saying the Empire hasn't been bothered by anyone? They would literally be destroyed by the Thalmor if not for the peace treaty, they have no choice but to obey them, for now. If the Stormcloaks win and defeat the Empire (Which is what the Thalmor wants), the Thalmor will just Conquer both Skyrim and the Empire in their weakened state. The Empire needs Skyrim to be unified with them, so they can regain their strength and stand a chance at eventually defeating the Thalmor.

MajorSlackAttack has great guides for legendary difficulty that will make any character build completely OP by level 30 or so. Lots of grinding, but definitely doable.
Disgruntled KZheadr I saw that guy too. He mentioned having a book on this? I mean come on... I have 3500 hours combined on classic and SE, (mostly legendary) so I think I have the right to say legendary difficulty is nothing to write a novel over. Just dodge every shot, and make sure to quick save during fights so you don’t lose the progress you made on the enemy.
Alina Pinto he just uses his book as favor for donating. And I guess he went this path for some kind of legal reasons. Also I think his book is not: 1)”git gut” 2)”just save lul” 3)”ez clap” but guide how to level every skill with least effort, potion/poison recipes, locations to farm and collect crafting ingredients and other useful tips like this.

for the best experience I recommend starting on master and turning it to legendary after lvl 20, 30, 40, or if you have 300 hp and either 200 stamina or magicka; your choice when currently lvl10 and on masters. trolls are unkillable so I just run away. haven't gone out of my way to get companions or cheese and only used equipment I looted it was fun so far

i found playing in legendary as a conjuration archer quite easy and realy fun . there were moment where you die with one hit,but overall it got easier the more you level
For my legendary playthrough I chose an Argonian so I could hide from enemies in the water indefinitely and heal once per day. I also got my hands on Mehrunes Razor and the Mace of Molag Bal as early as I could. I'm trying to specialize in Magic but I have to use every skill and tool at my disposal to get through some situations, so I leave no skill weakened. I occasionally use heavy armor but usually use a combination of magically Enchanted light armor and spell armor. Two-handed weapons and lock picking are probably the least utilized skills.
First Mistake: Didnt get the 3 bandits at the beginning

It does not heal for the same amount. It heals for twice as much and costs twice as much. 2.5x as much with the perk. I'm not sure where you generated this information from.

9:28 I always make a point of giving Faendal some armor! At least some. I usually have just enough pelts to give him some leather armor, and if I don't, I usually have enough money to buy the leather off Alvor.
Answer: you don’t, you play it on expert because that is the most fairly balanced difficulty setting.
How is dealing less damage than enemies balanced? Adapt is the most balanced because u deal the same damage as everyone else.

I started Skyrim for the 1st time few months ago and learned a lot and restarted again for a proper way. I played Skyrim with Legendary level from day 1. I really don't know the benefits of other levels because I never tried them. As you guest, the game is super hard. And 1st time I played as a 2 handed Nord. This time I'm a Breton mage - the most powerful way to play the game as far as I saw. Close to level 60 now, and there is no enemy I couldn't defeat within 1 min (for now). 😇.. love this game man..
Here’s a pro tip... Always have a follower, and when in battle make sure the enemy aggro’s onto your follower instead of you. This can be easily done by getting them to attack you then run past your follower.

Those games really required you to think and prepare before every fight. Each class had their restrictions and amazing abilities, something more games today need to do.

@@TmanTheTdog I had that at level 1. A centaur with 20 strength (+5) with applied bonuses. A 1d12 (+5) lance one handed due to constantly having the mounted status. 18 AC from chainmail and a shield. Lay on hands. Paladin Centaurs with good rolls are beastly creatures. DEUS VULT.

The turn lesser undead spell makes any draugr completely helpless from staggering if they're too strong for it, Infinitely useful for legendary

I only play on Legendary for the last year. Frequently I play with the idea my character has only one life and I have finished the main quest (along with multiple side quest) doing so. Planning is my key. I have also died from one crossbow bolt before I could get my health high enough to withstand such attack. Very irritating if I'm playing a only one life character. I like legendary because you have to plan. Going into a dungeon with only 1 health potion is doable on expert, but just asking for trouble on legendary. I do love watching people play skyrim on Legendary and seeing their methods to overcome the difficulty. I wish there were more people doing so. So thank you StraightUpIrish for this video!
Try legendary support healer. Companioms do all the fighting. Pro tip on playing mage on legendary. Go to Markarth go into Nepos home sneak and steal the greater soul gem. Use the soul gem to craft a staff at the college of Winterhold at the atronach forge in the midden.
Just abuse summons, companions, paralyse potions and illusion spells and you won't even see a difference.
I always put the difficulty up to master or legendary while in Helgen at the start. I do it to simulate really difficult fight to get out of Helgen. Sometimes I die. You spend more time early getting skill bumps to train your skills when the enemies are much harder. You have Hadvar or Ralof as a companion and they are not having much an issue with the enemies. So just get close to them for cover if you get targeted by too many enemies at once. I plan to do dark brotherhood early I do a lot sneaking. If I plan to play spellsword then I work on one handed. If I plan to play a mercenary barbarian with a two handed, I get that trained up a bit before I exit Helgen. At the exit of Helgen I turn the difficulty down to expert. Animals seem too strong at legendary early on.
