CORRECTION: I misstated one of the criteria for a natural spawn. It can happen if you have at least 9 defense _OR_ at least 200 health. One or the other!
Oh I was super confused because I only have 180 Health Points and it naturally spawned on my world oh and also I was going to ask a question about the HP of him however I realized it was the difficulty
this would have been usefull 1 hour ago before i just wondered into a blizzard with no idea what a deerclopse was

This fight becomes alot harder when he naturally spawns and ur ice biom looks like this: /\/\/\/\/\
Oh totally! But really most bosses are a lot harder if you don't have good terrain for the fight.

I love the fact that they added the shadow hands from low sanity camp fire, the original ice spike attack and a sumoner for deerclops, the only difference is that in DS and DST the summoner has a CHANCE to spawn a Deerclops or to spawn a MacTusk or just nothing, i would like to see the drops from the deerclops in terraria

Im coming back to the game for the first time since Moon Lord came out on console. Decided to watch some refresher courses on the game since im playing pc for the first time and its been a while. Im kinda glad I found this now rather than get mauled by an angry deer down the line...

Thank you for the tips! My first try was a struggle, and I died multiple times. After lowering my platforms to the 10-14 block level, the difference was like night and day!

On classic mode, if you have a double jump, you can double jump on his 3rd ice attack, and dodge the ice. if you have got enough defense, it won't hurt bad. UPDATE: i meant in this comment, that if you have got multiple layers, you need to jump a little lower than the 2nd layer andthe ice will be on the 2nd layer, which won't touch you i think i saif something very different that i meant to. I was just trying to make some snow huts in my ice biome when deerclops showed up as my first boss 😭 I'm still only at 100 health and I've died so many times
Leave her alone and eventually she'll wander off and despawn. But yeah, that's pretty rough when you're just getting started!

Will you be making an early hardmode guide as well? You prepped me well for early game, but I’m back to the endless death cycle. I don’t know how I spawned a pirate invasion, I just know it ended with 3 new graveyard biomes in my world.
YES! Next guide episode will be the Wall of Flesh, and after that will be an early hardmode guide. Though I might throw in a "Build This House" speed build guide of some sort as well.
During invasions never leave your house if you can't fight. Block all entry with blocks and them brake 1 block in the middle of two other Like this : you will be able to shoot projectiles into every enemy through that, but they won't be able to. After dying sometimes to the goblin invasion I tried this. If they don't let you do this, exit the world and enter again, be quick, because they spawn fast.
I fight deerclops and using the tactic by using my "slime mount" to jump over him to cause damage and it kinda helped a little but I Died twice
Slime mounts works really good on some bosses, though I don't think I've ever tried it on Deerclops. I imagine those shadow hands would cause some problems!
@@salendrak i did the slime mount tactic, it suprisingly good but u have to dodge/tank the shadow hand

Eventually! LOL I'm currently sidestracked working on a side-project - a 3 episode beginner's guide to Rimworld, which I'll hopefully have done (all 3 episodes) in the next week or two, as I'm doing them all at the same time. But once that's done I'll be getting back to my regular content - finishing off Wagstaff and the DS:RoG series, and getting back to the Terraria guides. Hopefully mech bosses in the next month or three?

for some reason the method that worked the best for me was bouncing on his head with the slime mount while dodging his attacks and I used the sword from the sky islands

I only fight this boss for the early sentry, that can help in the tier 1 OOA. Lucy is enough to use til plantera but too rare to get. Weather pain is decent but I can get better weapon at the current stage of the game like Water Bolt or Demon Scythe. And the pewmatic horn, do I have to explain? Iconic minishark is wayy better! Expert exclusive Bone Helm however is good for tier 1 OOA but will soon be replaced by Bone Glove. Anyway tier 1 OOA is just for having enough medals for tier 2 OOA. I think Deerclops is fought for fun cuz the loot is not so amazing (except Lucy)

I have 9 armor (winter armor set) but still only 100 health or 5 hearts, and a deerclops appeared while I was in a winter biome during a blizzard. So I almost instantly died even trying to run away. Then I tried to go back and get my dropped coins, then discovered his magic hands, died again, but left my coins at home. Maybe since I exited the game, he wont be there when I reload the game. I'm using an iron sword for monsters currently. That jungle whip looked good though. I have yet to make it to either end of my map or find a heart container underground. Would an iron bow with flame arrows be strong enough to kill it though? Should I not have 9 armor now? Any other boss monster spawns possible with my current low stats?
If you're new to the game I would recommend you hold off on trying Deerclops for now. Wait until you have at least your evil biome armor and weapons first. Overall you just got unlucky to get a Deerclops spawn so early.
i was making a chest area and placing my weapons into a chest when eye cuthulu spawned. I'm not even ready because i only have iron armor. what do i do?
Do your best! Who knows - you might surprise yourself and take it down!
maybe its because you're using life crystals. keep your max health on 180 or less. eye of Cthulhu gonna be triggered when ur health is more than 200.

I have this idea that I'll make some kind of under place..basement?..and make it go deep then put lava...so when the dear enter..it will swimmingin in lava..and I will keep attacking using range..while hooked at the corner...

Hey sal, iam playing in expert drunk world and bats are annoying. They are stronger than classic and any tips on how to avoid them while mining?
Put up a temporary wall to block them from getting to you! Harder to do if you're mining in a big open cave, but frequently you end up going into the ground a bit and can easily wall yourself in for while you're mining.

Hey Jack. Thanks for the tip, but iam way geared with post skeletron gear so iam saving the calming potions during Hellstone mining and WoF battle. Also do calming potions work while WoF is there? because I don't want lava bats and demons to distract me.
@@akshayraj4623 In my experience it seems like most mobs spawn less when you're fighting bosses anyways. Not sure if that's an actual thing or just my perception. But with the Wall of Flesh you'll be moving away from it fast enough that generally mobs spawning aren't much of a problem. At most you'll have to dodge them as you run past.

I just no hit this boss on expert (ive done all the prehard mode bosses as no hit, this took nearly double the attemps of anything else (160, 2nd most was wall of flesh at 83) and i can say that the rng of the single shadow hands is by far my least favourite boss mechanic in terraria , its not that bad for regular fights but nohit certainly suffers from the RNG
Yeah, compared to just about everything else in Terraria, those things are VERY much an RNG headache. The only thing worse is FTW Brain of Cthulhu!

pretty good guide as always but I would also include recommended setups for all classes and not just summoner. and shadow hands not being affected by warmth potion should be pretty obvious. you wouldnt expect for a shadow to have specific temperature, would you?
I thought about doing more detailed class specific recommendations, but the odd thing with Deerclops is that you can basically do it whenever you want. And because its defense is only 10, that means you can literally use almost ANY pre-hardmode weapon and still beat the boss. Obviously the higher your DPS the better.
@@salendrak I understand, but I remember using pre wall of flesh mage setup and he ended up being quite tanky. however that was before the nerf patch so maybe its much faster now.

@@salendrak I watched the video again and you did say in the "Strange Hit boxes" segment that you can stay above his hitbox by being in a height of 10 blocks. Somehow didn't notice that. So i guess you can build the first row of plattforms at a height of 10 blocks. One chapter called Arena preperation would have been useful though. There you could explain what the min and max height of your first row of plattforms should be. You also could have explained why you have several rows of plattforms. Thanks for the video btw. Sorry i didn't notice that you indeed did tell the height.
Salendrak I can’t get my spawn point set in my house because whenever I try to sleep and teleport and I try to spawn point I’m my house it keeps teleporting me to my spawn point where I first spawned in the world pls help I don’t know how to set spawn point :c a new one :c

If u defeat the WALL OF FLESH in hard mode what will happen? Go into MASTER MODE where if u die once ur world is over or what I don’t understand or will it keep going like hard mode PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME
Hard mode is started the first time you defeat the wall of flesh in a given world. After that you can keep killing the Wall of Flesh as many times as you want in that world, and nothing happens. It just dies and drops more loot. Master Mode is just a harder difficulty setting. Classic is the easiest, Expert is in the middle, and Master Mode is the hardest. The only way you can die and your world is over is if you create a character that is a hardcore character. Once that character dies, it's dead! Hope that helps!

EXPERT MODE I MEAN FOR WORLD
@@danofftheground Difficulty setting for the WORLD does not affect what happens when you die (other than dropping gold). Character setting DOES, with the options being Classic, Mediumcore (you drop all items when you die) and Hardcore (you don't respawn if you die). So if your WORLD is Expert difficulty, then what happens when you die, whether pre-hardmode or hardmode will be the same, based on the CHARACTER'S settings. It's kind of confusing tbh.

Deerclops is hard boss on prehardmode and i almost died that i dont know how deerclops attack pattern works i defeat deerclops and i summon him again and i died and then i defeat deerclops again
As with all things, there's sometimes a learning curve, especially for a boss you've never fought before!

For what specifically is such a boon required?
The single shadow hands are terrible game design and what you're not supposed to do when designing a boss. The rest of the fight is pretty good and fun but the hands are so out of place considering Terraria's movement doesn't allow for many ways to counter them.
Yeah, they're pretty hard to avoid
The randomly spawning hands make this fight such garbage. Instead of adding attacks that actually take skill or knowledge to dodge, it just comes down to random chance. Could have been an interesting boss but they ruined it.
Yeah, that's a criticism of the fight I've heard several times. This is definitely the only boss that has a mechanic quite like that!
