    • You are clueless. Most 18-wheelers have govenors on them and cannot go over 70mph. Left lane is for passing only. That applies to everyone. The trucker was obviously passing vehicle on the right when the pickup rolled through there like a que ball. Pickup would be at fault with evidence of the dash cam and high speeds. I just wish pickup would have wrapped himself around the guardrail or a pole. That'd be one less dangerous and incompetent driver on the road.

    • Agree, speed is irrelevant. If a vehicle in the left lane is passing cars in the right lane, they have every right to be in left lane. You do not get to dictate the speed at which the vehicle in left lane must go to pass a car. In fact, most state laws specifically state posted speed limits must still be adhered to when passing. Please educate yourself on driving laws.

    • @@SRofNY Yes, it is generally a mistake to pass on the right side. But, there's a subtlety here that those who actually think carefully might get. When a truck (or anybody) is in the left lane, they may not be able to keep up a proper passing speed and start to fall behind. Cars that are already to the right of the truck have probably already been seen by the truck driver (though I'm not a truck driver and can't actually speak for them). So, the truck driver is likely already anticipating them moving ahead on the right and has accounted for them. But, any cars that are not already ones the truck driver has seen will not be accounted for. Trying to join the cars already to the right of the truck is one of the places where things start to go wrong. Anyone who dares try needs to be ready to hit the brakes as soon as there's any indication that the truck driver is going to want to come over--given that the driver wasn't able to maintain passing speed in the left lane and want to come over out of respect for other drivers on the road. And, of course, that turn signal is a dead give away. Thanks for the video.

    • @@michaelarkell5437 As long as you are going faster than people in the rightmost lane it is safer to use the middle lane as the cruise lane. Obviously keep the left lane as the passing lane. The issue with "keep right unless passing" is that you have constantly change lanes risking a collision or someone speeding up to not let you in. Also the rightmost lane people will oftentimes slowdown to take their exit or don't get up to the speed limit as they may be only be on the freeway for 1-2 miles so you constantly have to slow down and change lanes.

      @TrafficSafety1836@TrafficSafety18364 ай бұрын
    • @@TrafficSafety1836 A few points: 1. Staying in the middle lane forces faster traffic to pass on the right when the left lane is full of only-slightly-faster traffic. Passing on the right, even passing a car on the right, is more dangerous than lane changes. The idea that lane changes are inherently dangerous is mostly a fallacy caused by the fact that too many drivers switch lanes without looking, but it wouldn't be nearly as important to look to the right (where there is a larger blind spot, which is part of why passing on the right is dangerous) if you are already in the right lane. 2. In places where there is an exit every half mile and there is constantly lots of traffic getting on and off, then sometimes staying in the middle lane can work, but when there are a few miles between exits, that lane just sits empty. Also, yes, there are bad on ramps, which aren't properly designed for the amount of traffic that uses them, but that should not be an excuse to avoid the right lane between exits or in the many places where that is not the case. They wouldn't have kept that lane if they didn't want you to use it. 3. The reasons you stay in the middle lane are many of the reasons some people use to justify staying in the left lane on a 2 lane highway. If those reasons are not justifiable for the left lane, how are the same reasons justifiable for the middle lane? 4. Overall, my main problem with that perspective is that in situations where there is a lot of traffic but just enough so you aren't slowed down that much, you end up with a line of traffic going slightly below the speed limit in the middle lane, another line of traffic going slightly above the speed limit in the left lane, and a right lane that is completely empty. Then you're getting passed on both sides, with the faster traffic on the same side as the shoulder, and that is what is actually dangerous, especially if you need to move over to take an exit or if your car breaks down while driving. In a world where everyone moves to the right, anyone who is slower than anyone else is to the right and the road naturally gets faster as you move left; then speed becomes a non-issue (look to Germany, Italy, and Poland for examples).

      @mr65136@mr65136Ай бұрын
    • @@michaelarkell5437 The problem with "Slower Traffic Keep Right" is it's not as effective as "Keep Right Except To Pass." Legally: (Sidenote - The sign and the statute don't always match: Look at most states posting Keep Right Except To Pass signs, making it illegal to drive anywhere but the right lane unless passing, while you can do so legally (and in some states you can even drive in the left lane if you are going the speed limit) if there is no sign; California (Slower Traffic Keep Right) and New Jersey (Keep Right Except To Pass) are two of the only states where the signs and the law match, which is why I'll use California as an example.) In California, you must always move to the right-most lane on a freeway, but only if you are slower than the speed limit (65) AND you are directly inconveniencing others (this is interpreted as minimum 3 cars waiting behind you). That is what Slower Traffic Keep Right means. If you are driving at the target speed of the road, you are not slow enough to matter as far as that is concerned. Morally: With Slower Traffic Keep Right, drivers feel no need to drive in any particular lane because: I'M NOT GOING SLOW. In contrast, Keep Right Except To Pass conveys a clear, strict message, which is better for encouraging compliance (yeah, most drivers don't care about little signs on the side of the road, but this is one of those things where even 1 person moving over is better than none).

The proper way to change lanes infront of a semi is get more then 400 feet past him before you get over. The reason for this is if you car has a problem and you lose control/ mechanical failure the truck has enough time and space to stop and not kill you or himself. This causes the majority of the idiot drivers like yourselves to pass him on the right the second there is 10 foot of space between him and the driver he's passing making him have to wait longer to get in the right lane. • You can pass a truck on the right, but you have to have a functioning brain to do it. Let the car ahead of you get past him first, then wait a bit (behind and clear) to see if he wants to move over. That guy would have moved over when it was clear if DroneScope had let him, and would have opened the left lane for passing. But no, DroneScope had to force his way past, because he's arrogant and stupid, and MUCH more important than anyone else.

NEVER pass anyone on the right. You and the other car were most likely in a blind spot. Trucks are really good about moving over. The trucker was waiting for a large enough gap as trucks have large blind spots in the front and need a larger following distance than your average car. Keep a good 4-5 seconds behind and wait.

Say I’m on 81 heading towards Winchester Virginia in my pickup, I’m running 70 mph, a truck has nearly passed me, we hit a hill and my F150 continues at 70 and the big rig slows down and I continue in my lane, is that considered a right lane pass? Does that upset truck drivers.

    @poppyneese1811@poppyneese1811Ай бұрын
    • In this instance, that you mentioned, no. You were in your lane, we attempted to pass and then the laws of gravity hit. While it does discourage us that we were not able to finish the pass before the hill hit, slowing us down, it was nothing that YOU did which caused the delay in me trying to get back in the right lane. The laws of inertia and gravity are always gonna prevail. You maintaining your speed as our load and gravity is slowing us down is not your fault; so I ain't mad at cha. Now, should you ALSO slow down in the right lane, matching my speed and making no attempt to pass me so I can.get back over; thus staying in my way, THEN we have a problem. It's all about common courtesy and being safe out there. Share the road,,, be safe - Long haul trucker,, 25 yrs and counting..

I am not a technically good driver, so I've been limiting my speeding out of self preservation, but my high score is 105 in a 65, which really doesn't feel so reckless. bare in mind that this only applies to limited access highways. shit gets murkier on at-grade roadways with intersections. sometimes you can speed there responsibly, but not in neighborhoods for the love of god

    • ash89 you are a dumb sob. i challenge you to go 1 full year, if it is delivered by a truck driver, then you CAN'T HAVE IT, care to take the challenge, if you loose then you become a sissy boy, like the benz driver.

    • Passing on the right is not illegal moron, it's ill-advised. And that doesn't change the fact that changing lanes without checking your mirrors is even more dangerous, but I wouldn't expect a simp like you to understand that.

  • This is why you should never pass on the right period. Definitely the wrong thing to do. Left lane is acceleration and passing lane. If someone insists on going speed limit or slower in the left lane use high beams to flash em, lean on horn, even call the police and have em ARRESTED. Why because they are creating a colision hazzard!

  • Literally YESTERDAY I watched the interstate split two directions. Two lanes split left, two split right. The semi truck was in the furthest right lane & realized he had to make the left. This man took it. Went completely straight through the middle shoulder, causing 3 cars to make their way from getting absolutely steam rolled.
