I will take great care of him everyone!!
Thank you.
We must support the supporter! Make sure you care for yourself too Abby... 👍🏻
Abby thank you for bringing so much happiness to Adam. Since you have been around he's just a new man
Nurse Abby!!!
Abby Abby, you are THE GREATEST ... ALL Nice thoughts for you guys 😍
I think most of us strongly suspect what you are up to and you have my utmost respect and admiration. It is a BIG decision which is the right one and you will do just fine because you will approach it with the "I can do it" mindset of a great machinist. Your consideration of all us viewers is very humbling which is a testament to who you are, a really great guy. Abby is lucky to have you in her life and will be a big support as the two of you travel this road together. You have my prayers and best wishes for the success you so deeply deserve. As for Abby making chips on a substitute SS, a bowl of chips and dip setting on the cross slide while she narrates your progress would be a hoot.
Thanks Ron! We’re having breakfast together and I read your comment to her. We both had a good laugh! Thanks for the support. 👍🏻
Adam, Thanks for thinking about your viewers, we do appreciate that. Good luck on your procedure and have a speedy recovery!
I wish the very best for you and Abby during your recovery! I don’t watch on Saturdays, but you are a tradition with my Sunday morning coffee :). Cheers!
I came by you via a hearty recommendation from Uncle Bumblef*ck, AvE. Since then I have gone back and watched every one of your videos in the back catalog over the last few years. You're entertaining and informative and SNS, in particular, has found a place in my weekend routine. I hope your time off goes well and I hope your elective goes off without a hitch! Cheers!
You don't owe us anything Adam, take your time and get better, we will all still be here when you get back
All the support Adam. A month off is plenty of time to watch any older videos we havent gone back and watched. We will still be here when you come on back. Best of luck.
Never a Saturday without SNS and a good beer. Thanks for all the effort, and good luck to you on your medical procedure. Heal well.
Best of luck on the procedure. On the cylinders, the pair are swing cylinders for the backhoe. On the assembly, a couple additional checks I make are when I I stall an oring, I check the parting line to be sure it isn't rolled. Additionally, after installing the rod guide (or gland as some call it) and the piston in the bore, I check to be sure I didn't shave any seal off on the edges. I usually just wipe off any extra grease and give it a quick rub with my fingers to tactically and visually check for anything. After 25 years, I have found a few that got scraped, but less than a handful. I spent 15 years in a Deere industrial dealership and resealed many, many Deere cylinders with the cap seal. I just did two swing cylinders and he needs 4 or 5 more done and I am thinking of doing a video on them. I have a couple of tricks that are worth sharing. Thanks for all of the great content and best of luck for you and your nurse.
Best wishes for a surgery with no issues and a smooth recovery. Take it easy for as long as the doctor says. We'll all be here when you get back into the shop.
Take care and take the time you need. We'll look forward to your return and a better you. God bless for a perfect procedure!
Don't stress over producing content Adam, enjoy the period of R&R, put yourself first and the rest will happen in good time. Be Lucky! All the Best!
The most detailed/helpful video on replacing hydraulic cylinder seals I've seen! Thank you!
Wishing you a speedy recovery Adam. Been watching your videos for years. Thank you for sharing your passion, it’s contagious! Best Regards
We’ll be saying extra prayers for you both Adam. Thanks for all you share and have trust in your caregivers!
All the best to you both (Adam and Abby) and a speedy recovery as well.
Wow, this was four years ago! Glad you're still pumping them out. Enjoying the new shop videos.
Good luck and best wishes to you and Mrs Abom with your procedure. We will all still be here when you return!
Thanks for the heads up, take care of everything and wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video. Prayers for a smooth and speedy recovery.
Take care and have quick recovery :-) I am sure that Abby will take good care of you!
Adam, I just want to say it has been a pleasure to watch you and it brings back many good memories. I was a machinist and a gear cutter for 17 years. We had many regular customers, but we had a lot of custom work. I just ran across your site today and I want to say thank you for the smile you gave me. Thank you... Peter
Thanks Peter! Hope you continue to enjoy the videos. I have many.
Thank you for all the great videos abom! Good luck with your surgery, I hope it works for you. Heal fast and get back on it!
I am sticking with you no matter what and wish you the best and a speedy recovery. You make my saturdays and I look forward to seeing what you have to offer. I love the Dan Post socks and have worn them for years.
I hope your medical procedure goes as smoothly as possible -- and i wish you a steady and rapid recovery.
Don't do it man, you don't need hair plugs. We like you the way you are!!
Aloha Adam, maybe one of the reasons you are large is to hold that heart, thank you for your concern for us viewers. Take care of yourself first, we will wait and keep you in our prayers. Aloha ke Akua
Abom79 I too had an old valve guy pass the warm watwe trick on to me. Works great!! He too has passed away and I think he would be glad his tricks are still in use. I have also seen bearings heated in hot oil instead of a bearing heater for installation. Good luck on the surgery. Hope to see you back soon.
Nice job! I’ve been wanting to see hydraulic cylinders getting rebuilt. Thank you!
Best of luck with your procedure! You take care of yourself and us loyal viewers will patiently wait. Thanks for the video!
I'm pulling for you Buddy! Stay strong and positive!
That seal installer from kit king is one of those products that looks so simple, but no one ever did it. It took someone to sit down and make it, and it helps everyone. I never buy knock offs of products like that. The designers/manufacturers deserve your cash.
All the best to you for a speedy recovery.
Good luck with your medical. I'll add to my prayers. Iam not a machinist. My brother is a mold maker and repairs them and you kind of remind me of him. Watching you work gives me a insight into what he does. Thanks for all the past and future videos . Take as much time as ya need.
Adam, started watching about the time yo started the rotary welding table then went back and watched all that preceded those. Have watched every one since and plan to continue. Learned a ton! Best wishes and prayers on your procedurre, read many of the comments below and believe several of us have an idea of what is going on. I did it in late Dec 3016, has changed my life for the better unbelievably. wish I could tell you all about it, might halp. Thanks Abby!!!
Best wishes Adam for a speedy recovery. I appreciate all your hard work on the videos. Take care.
Best of luck with that procedure, Adam. You are the finest Made-in USA material so I'm sure everything will turn out fine!
You MUST take care of yourself, so that providing KZhead content will continue to be pleasurable to yourself, as well as us viewers! The shop details are all that I need and thoroughly enjoy. Your additional understanding of fabrication techniques and your knowledge of and ability to accomplish basic good welding, makes for a nice variety of interesting projects. I certainly enjoy all the clips that you are able to get at the Fab Shop, including how what you've done, fits into the big assembly and what others have done. Me? I'm worn out, and retired. Thanks a million for your 2 channels!
I always learn something from you and this was no exception. Thank you and thank you for being there. Please take care of yourself. Best wishes Adam
Good luck Abom!. Here's to your healthy recovery. Sit your butt down. Put your feet up. Enjoy a beer or two.
Been watching for many years now Abom, whatever the procedure is God bless and you get your rest and know we know that Abby will be taking good care of you.
good job on the cylinders. one trick i learned when working in a hyd shop was to put the seals in boiling water . it softened the seals and made it easier to install . those small cylinders can be a real bear to rebuild we also used automotive piston ring compressors to collapse the piston seals and sometimes some good old shim stock and hose clamps. those seal colapsers are practically indispensable for installing small seals. best of luck with your procedure. we are all pulling for you. .
Dude, your vids are so helpful and introductory-esk. I swapped from electrical to cylinder repair, and you have been instrumental. Hope everything goes well.
Your music makes this one of the classiest channels on you tube
Hi Adam, from someone who has fitted a whole load of rams, I can tell you that the protection you added to keep the bearings clean will be greatly appreciated at the other end. It shows you have pride in what you do. G
Hope it all goes well with you Adam, you have a lot of support out here in the rest of the world! Thanks for giving a heads up. Cheers, Troy
wishing you well in advance from the UK, I watch you videos everyday just about because I'm watching and learning all the time , thanks for all you efforts ,there brilliant .
You are a smart man to prep for everything as best you can. Then take the time to heal up right. Don't get pushed into coming back until you can. I almost lost the best manager I ever worked for when his management team talked him into coming back too soon. He wound up with a lot of additional problems as a result. Theres a lot of stuff I need to re-watch anyway, so, we'll be good to go as soon as you are!
Adam, best of luck with your procedure. Love your videos, especially SNS. I'll be praying for you.
Best of health and a speedy recovery to ya, Abom!
Thanks for sharing your videos, just stay positive and know that you have a lot of people pulling for a positive outcome and speedy recovery concerning your medical procedure. Take care
Love your vids, so take care of yourself, take it easy, get some well deserved rest, and get back when you're ready.
Praying that you will be well cared for by the Great Physician, and Abby, of course. Curious to see what you have stashed away for us to enjoy while you recover.
I do a lot hydraulic cylinders myself and enjoyed this video. Great tips for rebuilding even for us with experience. The kit king tool would definitely make installing rod seals easier even if it doesn't always work perfectly 😁. For lube I have always used petroleum jelly mostly because it comes in a tub with a good lid and it sticks to what ever it touches and doesn't wipe off easily. But just wanted to say thanks for all your videos and yes its my Saturday evening relaxation time and always look forward to watching and learning.
@Abom79, Good luck with the medical stuff! I hope things work out okay and you feel better soon. As always, thanks so much for posting!
I'm sure the medical stuff will work out just fine. Take it easy and don't rush it. Best way to have a great recovery. Always happy to see what you have to share on video. Maybe do a couple "best of" videos? You have lots of great content to choose from.
Good luck on your recovery excellent tutorial on hydraulic cylinder rebuilding. Have to say Hercules seal company is fantastic they treat the individual the same as a large company. Rebuilt 7 cylinders for my son's backhoe this winter and when I had to call customer service they treated me no different than their largest customers. Prices are great and shipping is fast and very reasonable. You can go online and order there or call for their free catalogs which I also like to work from and order by the numbers in the book. I also have a good relationship with the local hydraulic shop when I only need a few quick items. Thanks for the videos
Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Don’t try to rush back. Take the the time to watch tons of KZhead videos!
Hi Adam, thank you again for the videos, I really enjoy them all. Good luck with the medical issues and please ensure you take your time in recovery. We will still be here looking out for you when you get back in the shop. Dont rush it though! best wishes regards Gareth
Hey there Adam, I wish you the best during your procedure and a speedy recovery! Yes i love your weekly content and very much look forward to it. However you do what ever you have to do to make the best you you can be :)
Good luck. You're one of the good guys. I'll say a prayer for you.
I haven’t used on seals however on plastic and steel pump valves. Warming the plastic replacement works great. The temperatures are at boiling water and not as high as cooking something. I showed your video to the BOP repair guys and they loved it, some of the seals are deep in the bores. They what me to find or make them extremely lone set. Thanks for sharing.
All of our best wishes are with you Adam, we're with you for you not just your content my friend. Take good care of yourself, no one is going anywhere.
I will be praying for you my friend for a quick recovery. I had a knife job done a few years back and the best advice I got was from one of the nurses in the hospital that said "go home and do nothing" and she was right. Mark
Yep, I’ll have to take it easy for a couple weeks
All the best to you and a speedy recovery I really enjoy the videos
You'll be in our thoughts and prayers. And a big "Bless You" to Abby for stepping up.

Stay safe and well, I hope all will be good for you. I love what you do more than you can imagine. I watch you from Ballynahinch in Northern Ireland.
That boring bar is mondo! Best of luck to you with your surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers. You have a great channel, Adam, and we all care for you.
The number 2 stands for the hardness of the grease. The lower the number the softer the grease. Lower numbers are commonly used when grease has to be pumped a certain distance to where its required. Number 2 is most commonly use in industries as it stays in place when applied.
Love this, really miss shop class from high school. With you here on youtube it's like being able to have a class every Saturday night. I am slowly (maybe not so slowly) building up my own machine shop and shooting videos.
Whatever be that procedure, Adam, best of luck man, best of luck. And take the time. Family first, and you're family. So take care of yourself. Relax and enjoy slow time.
Great episode, Adam; very informative. And even after all these episodes, I still like your in and out music and love the photo at the end of you, your dad, and your grandad. Take it easy, man, and see you soon.
Another great video series. Thank you!
Good luck, and speedy recovery.
