Debra DeWolff, a local artist from Wisconsin, started out as a fiber artist, she later added polymer clay and metal clay to her repertoire. She visited Cool Tools to demonstrate how to create a flower petal cane using the skinner blend process to create a strip that has a gradual color change, folding it using an accordion fold and then rolling it into a cane. We have included a second video in which Deb demonstrates how to make the center portion of the flower.
I can't even tell you how happy I was to see you put the clay trough the pasta machine! TYVM!

I love how you use the settings for the pasta machine as you do. Numbers mean nothing as they are different from country to country. Very easy to follow. 😊 thank you
I LOVE how u do things.. I watched another lady on here and she was a lot more complicated and hard to learn from.. You make it so much more easy to follow.

This was the best tutorial I’ve ever seen for flower canes. You go slow enough to understand, and explain exactly what and why you’re doing. You make me think I may be able to do it! At least I’ll try now. Thank you!

Great video. You are so neat and detailed. How do you make the center of the flower ? I can usually figure it out, but it would be wonderful to see your method on doing this. Thank you for your time and commitment to this.
Hi Louise, you can find the video on how to create the middle of this flower here: www.cooltools.us/Debra-DeWolff-Polymer-Clay-Jelly-Roll-Cane-s/2524.htm Have a good day!
I hope I can make them as nice. Thank you.
Thank you 😊 lovely 🤟🏻🥰❤️💋
Aww... I loved the form to explain of the woman, I think is cute ,'3. Good video, is so cool!!
You do beautiful work. As a beginner, it would be helpful to know how much clay is being used to make the canes shown in tutorials. I am finding most clay artists don't post that information (or discuss it in the videos) and I always seem to end up with not enough. I know the amounts can be adjusted depending on how big of a cane is desired but knowing where to start (or what is used in the tutorial) would be great.
Thank you, Stacy. I think that for the Skinner blend I used for the petal cane, I used about 2 oz. each of purple, pink, and white clay. But then from that Skinner blend, I didn't use all of it for the petal cane. I think I used about one third of it to make the long strip that I accordion-folded into the petal cane. That would mean that I was working with a strip of about 3 oz. of clay. I usually don't work with less than 2 oz. of each color or blend, no matter what I'm making. I hope this helps. In future tutorials I'll try to say how many ounces of each color I'm using. -Deb.
CoolToolsVideos Thank you, that helps a lot - and also explains why I failed miserably. lol 😂
One lady bought a beginner kit of clay and she made 3 trays worth the beads and pendants! I don't know if this is helpful to you! I am a major beginner. I haven't even got my clay yet but I am super excited to get started!

how would you store a flower like that so it dont get smashed or ruined? do you think a old pill bottle would work?
Hi Sandy, once you bake it, it becomes solid and you don't have to worry about it becoming squished. Hope this helps.

More ads than a bad cable tv show and much more boring.
I didn't know I would have to watch a basic skinner blend lesson before watching the actual rose cane. I am very tired of the amount of time I waste watching misrepresented tutorials.
