  • I think ohio state will be really strong next year. Youngest team in the ncaa, 8 returning qualifiers, 3 returning AA's (41 champ, 74 runner up and hvy 5th). Only weight they lose is demilio at 41. They had a few key injuries (Hepner, kharachla, sasso) that could be back.

    • Ohio State is for sure going to be strong for a couple years with the recruiting class they had with Bouzakis, Mendez, Feldman. Than they have red shirt freshman Vinny Kilkeary at 125 comming in who is really good and of course Rocco Welsh. Sasso can come back in pretty sure so they will have a strong lineup!

  • I wanted to point something out about the Hodge discussion. CP said that Brooks had "wrestled tougher opponents" and "197 is a better weight." But to me, that sounds like saying Parker stood alone - you might say dominated - his entire weight class. He was so good that there was never any real discussion about his weight - he was so far above the rest of the competition that you wrote off the possibility of anyone challenging him.

  • As much as i love wrestling i feel like one of the down sides is the high number of conversations there are talking about hypotheticals. “What if he went this weight. What if he went to this school. What if this guy wrestled that guy…” I feel like its a waste of time and tasks away from whats actually happening in the sport.

  • yeah, jax forrest could have won ncaa's and idiots at southwest regional seeded him 3rd and then my nephew had to wrestle him in the first round, and the kid who was seeded 2nd had 9 losses, lost in the quarters and didn't place.

    • This is a crazy take. Jax is amazing but he’s a HS sophomore who just lost a match in his regional qualifier for PIAA. He would not win NCAA.

    • @@goodgoodthomas we'll never know how he would have done at ncaa's, but the kid he lost to at southwest regional didn't do well in the rematch in the state final. forrest teched him 15 - 0 in 4 and a half minutes. look at the data. he beat stanich this year, who was seeded 2nd and finished 5th. if you don't think he could have beaten anyone in the field at 125, you are delusional.

  • I detest the portal. It's school sports and scholarships. It isn't the pros yet. There are many other ways to be free and American including free not to join a sport that is strict at the highest levels of school sports that helps pay for college. Choice to do college or not. If there are restrictions to sign up for their deal, that should be permissible. The deal is free to be walked away from, including the deal that requires commitment. This isn't rights advancement, and it hurts the sports in my view. Transferring needs to have options, but not like this transfer portal and the pay.
