  • Thank you for this! I'm looking to paint the walls in my upstairs hallway and have been absolutely dreading it because of the mess sanding makes (and the whole cancer causing materials being thrown about when doing so). Now I know there's a better option.

  • there's a lot of mud on that wall. feather those edges and you won't have to sand so much. wet sanding is good for getting mud off the wall, not so good for a smooth finish. you can also wet sand with a sanding sponge which is good for top coat finish.

  • Where did you buy the sponge. I’m in New York and I can’t find it at either Home Depot or Lowe’s?

  • On the packaging of the drywall, it does say that it could cause cancer and I think I’ve seen that actually happened so definitely where the respirator people

  • If first coat is applied properly sanding should only be done on second coat and third. 25 years in drywall business so I’m speaking from experience. Not a single call to come back in those years

    • I don't usually have to give a 2nd and definitely not a 3rd coat. But I do have to sand a bit. But sanding is faster than waiting on mud to dry. Time is money. 33yrs old, over 25yrs in construction, but only about 2yrs of combined drywall time. No callbacks on my end either

  • Buddy should learn to feather his edges. No need to sand until your last coat is applied, if done correctly.

  • 120 grit not grade. Also with wet sanding you wan to wear gloves or your hands will dry up and crack. But before that you could have done a second coat on your edged and feather it down so you don't need to sand so much.
