  • Something I want to point out about recycling is that the first 2 steps is reducing, then reusing. If you can reduce how much you use any more, and it cannot be reused, then you recycle it. However most people skip to the 3rd then justify using more and reusing less because of it

    • The whole recycling segment just boggles my mind. I'm doing what I can to reduce the plastic--as well as other products, but especially during the pandemic it's nearly impossible. I even take my own drink cups to the restaurants when I get take-out. We need a way to make some drastic reductions in packaging. We should charge companies fees/taxes if they're using unnecessary un-biodegradable packaging. Like the lunch meats sealed in plastic, placed in a plastic tub, and wrapped in a cardboard label, or the single use fruit, pudding, or mac & cheese cups. Making companies pay a fee for their choices, could create revenue for building more recycling plants. It could also push them to make changes in how they process their products. Like....why isn't that ring under the cap recycled with the bottle?

    • Not about trying to be more efficient. We just don't have the technology to recycle certain materials in a sustainable or non-toxic way, but a lot of those materials are seen as recyclable. Paper is notoriously hard to recycle because of ink. There are many types of plastics and only certain ones are recyclable. The really easy to recycle stuff are metals, glass, and wood. If you see a food container with ink on it and that container can hold hot foods or is microwavable, that ink is most likely not recyclable. It can be separated from the paper releasing a lot of toxins and then buried as toxic sludge. This is currently an expensive process. Same thing for any print paper with ink. Almost all printer ink is impossible to recycle. Plastic recycling is even more complicated as even specific types of plastics differ on recycling methods depending on the original use.

The AF replied, no. We were here first, we tried to warn you, it’s the developers that pushed it and the city that okayed it. If you really make us mad we’ll move the whole base and take away the income we pump into the local economy that makes your home so valuable. Next day: We ❤️ Jet Noise bumperstickers everywhere...

  • So very scary, sad and anger inducing. My friend caught two young men in her home through her ring video. We were all discussing this on a social media site. Up pops a young man saying she shouldn't prosecute the guy, she should feel sorry for him for his addiction problems. That the guys shouldn't be arrested. Here's the topper "Especially since they didn't take anything." Yeah, right, this guy lives in our neighborhood. He's talking on social media to us thinking we don't know who he is. He was arrested and posted bond. But some of the heavy beleeding hearts, espcially one who's running for local office is also pushing this "no consequences for crimes." Idea. she says they need help. That's possibly true, but at least in our state, if an 18 or older doesn't want help doesn't want to go to the hospital they don't go, even if they are mentally ill and eating out of garbage cans. So this zero consiquences from petty crimes isn't going to work because they can't be forced to go for treatment unless they have been arrested and arraigned before a judges. So how's things in your parts of the world?

  • I received a set of twin aluminum pots from my mother who had been given them to her by her mother inlaw. I am 60, my mother is 84 and her mother inlaw died when she was 93. I recall reading that cooking in Aluminum pots causes cancer. I am sure we just got "immune" to the particular cancer caused by aluminum pots or maybe Dupont was responsible for promoting the "cancer aspect" and now Karma has come to fry them in their own pans.
