What becomes of an aging beauty? If that beauty is an automobile -- like, say, a sexy coupe -- after a few years one can expect an injection of performance to counteract the effects of time. That's exactly what these two cars, the Jaguar XK and the Maserati GranTurismo, have both just received.

The thing that pisses me off was that he stayed the paddle shifters were better in the Maserati but you can see him struggle to upshift around the second minute. But the jaguars paddles move with the steering wheel so when you turn the wheel you can up and down shift without using your hands. Also he stayed nothing bad about the Maserati... He just has a grudge against Jaguar... Oh and he has the charisma of a piece of plywood.

the reviewer said that the maseratis paddles were better than the jaguars but at 2:14 he was searching for the paddles in the maserati and the jaguars is connected to the stearing wheel if he picked the xkr it would still have more power but would be okay on thoses roads personally i think was biased because even though the maserati was 110hp down he said it was better.

Jaaaag..... At first I didn't like the jaaaag just cuz of the spoiler, but in the color called french racing blue, it looks really good and expensive
I've had 4 Jaguars and 4 Maseratis so far and I loved all of them. While the Jaguars have lovely interiors with fine leather and wood, so do the Maseratis - but the Maseratis use leather everywhere and the Jaguars will use vinyl on less touch surfaces, like the sides of the seats. It is minor, but I give the Maserati top marks b/c of it. Recently Jaguar has offered the XKR in a 450 bhp version which most reviewers rave about. Pretty much making the GrandTurismo S and XKR the same power. Frankly I'd love to have them both, but I have a 2012 Maser GTS and a matching 2012 Maser GrandCabrio. Both have seats for real adults in back, that and the exhaust note sealed the deal for me. Neither is a bad choice IMHO.
I love the jaguars since de XKR of the 99 with XJ Chassis.

I find it hard to believe the people who can actually afford to purchase these cars NEW would ever drive them in inclement conditions, such as those, in the video.
mrmysteriotx people who can afford them new can drive anything anytime without such concerns. people who can only afford to buy them USED have to look after their cars better because they couldn't afford losing them.
440hp for the masi? Thought the mc is 455 and the s is 450?.... interior on the masi is so dated compared to the jag. Also jags 550hp supercharged v8 is amazing and sounds great, both are best sounding v8s out.
Yeah, as soon as this guy said the interior of the Maserati was better than the Jag, that's when I knew he didn't know what he was talking about.
The Jag might be difficult to drive because it has summer only tires. So why would you even bring it up?
Driven both. Maserati Granturismo MC over the Jag XKR-S every, single, day of the week.
I bought the xkrs and pulled up to a light next to the mc. He was all revving and beautiful noises but come take off I smoked him like a cigarette jag all the way baby.

Basically he based his review on the fact that 550 bhp scared him shitless. You could not hear the XKR's fantastic sound track cos this guy wouldnt get it beyond 2000 rpm. Obviously 440 bhp is easier to live with in those conditions but would any owner of these cars take them out in snow and ice. Worst review I have ever seen

You kept referring to the conditions and saying the Jag was too powerful for them, somewhat pointless remark! The Maserati's engine noise really grates on a motorway, the seats push you in the top of your back and the quality isnt in same league as latest Jags. Oh then there's the god awful paddle shift!! Try that in traffic.

This is the most boring dude in the world. I'd be a two year old kid screaming with the engine if I was in there.
Presenter is boring, sounds completely uninterested. He also doesn't seem qualified to judge two cars of this calibre-he sat right forward, hunched over the wheel as if he's absolutely terrified of driving. He says the maser is better because its "more usable" but judging how he rates a car he probably would have preferred a Prius to both of them.
Maserrati will be at the dealer more them the Jaguar. the XJ only has roff noise problem which for the most part are fix on 2013 XJ. XJ touch screen is alot better uses glass screen and lag is cut in half. Plus Granturismo is a touring car. Does your dad want to go froma 4dr to a coupe?

The Maserati's ride seemed bumpier. Sounded like the guy was getting a massage during the review! lol
in europe maseraties come with mc shift which is dual clutch transmition and it just feels like its bigger brother ferrari basically a proper supercar experience another thing i noticed is that this car has the mc staradale bodykit but the interior is not the same as the ones in europe where it comes with bucket seats and also no back seats.. thats interesting I see a lot of differences in the orders from europe and usa
Great review. Refreshing to see cars reviewed and judged according to where they will spend most, if not all their time. On Public Roads and not attempting to do a hot lap on the Nurburgring. Driven both and Maserati for mine as well. Even if it remains a dream to own.

I'm going to review these cars with SUMMER tires with SNOW on the ground. I wonder whether or not my results could be affected by this...

This is not a Real MC stradale this just a body kit the mc stradale doesnt have back seats 0:32 and the front lights are white on the side not orange :)
My dad has both and prefers the Maserati, I can honestly say the Maser sounds a load better!

The GT-MC is the only Maserati I think looks good. The XKR-S, is a little too potent and focused for the kind of car it presents itself. The GT-MC is visually graceful while the XKR-S looks "boy-racer". Both come from companies not well known for racing, or at least racing and winning. But both are great cars.

The Maserati Rules!!!! Just add a lovely Supercharger get it up to 600HP and watch the Maserati smoke most of the competition. I just love it, its an everyday car, enough space on the back seats. Great MPG Compared to Exotics like the DB9 and enough space on the boot to go grocery shopping. Great vehicle, I hope to purchase it someday.
Equipping automatic, flappy-paddle transmissions in these beautiful automobiles should be a punishable crime.
Of course the engine gone rev LOUD in the Maserati because it's so slow,it's already at it's red line for Max RPM lololololololololol

When you buy a Ferrari they build another engine and keep it for you. Because they know you will need it. Alpha, Lancia, Fiat... Most unreliable cars you could ever imagine! In the UK Lancias are sold as Chrysler, because of the god awful reputation they have for rusitng away to nothing in a matter of years... Italian reliability right there for ya!
