    • @@mikebishop4629 I remember celebrating the win with my family and Oshie was crying and we all choked up. One of the best moments in history gotta say, especially with the ups and downs the capitals experienced. I truly hope the leafs see it too. Trust me as someone who felt the playoff pain for years with the capitals I really hope your core gets to lift the cup

  • The reporter interviewing Maroon deserves a raise. Just being able to see how emotional of a moment he brought up, to quickly wrap up the interview, give that reassuring comment and comforting tap on the back of the shoulder, just professionalism.

    • Losing my grandfather to Alzheimer’s was the toughest thing I’ve ever had to endure. To see them struggling day after day and know you can’t do anything about it is heartbreaking. Knowing Oshie’s struggle with the same thing I had to go through is why he’s one of my favorite hockey players.

  • Oshie hit me hard. My dad died of Alzheimer’s. He was a veteran and then a cop and then the chief of police. Toughest but sweetest and funniest guy I ever knew. It was heartbreaking to see him literally lose his mind. So I know why he was tearing up. It’s been 10 years but I still miss him every day. He was a rock. God bless you and your dad, Oshie. Peace.

    • @@polishpat95 People don’t die from the dementia segment of Alzheimer’s. 2/3rds of Alzheimer’s sufferers die of pneumonia associated with a severely weakened immune system. It can also cause blood clots in the brain and a few other issues such as being able to swallow food.

  • That Oshie clip would be gut-wrenching regardless, but as a dude who’s lost way too many people I love to Alzheimer’s, my heart absolutely breaks for him. I may not love the Caps, but I DO have endless respect for Oshie, and I’m really glad he got to win a cup with his dad in the stands before he passed.

    • I have an album on Facebook of pictures of players I have met getting drafted, and I made sure the picture of Anthony that I put in that album had Marty in it. Although born 20 years apart, Marty and my dad were born on the same day.
