I've been looking at this fight again... There is nothing to blame to Rico. Cookie just didn't came to do what he should've done. With every fight comes a certain risk. However, judging from the side line is always the easiest things to do, but the interim champ should have had the awareness that this chance of performing on this podium may not come again very soon. Credits to Verhoeven, he deserves the respect, certainly after the recovery of a heavy knee injury. Not every single fight is as spectacular as we want, but being the champ for a decade shows some true sportsmanship of an athlete. OSU!!👊

Watching fights like this makes me really miss the great K1 era. Aerts, le Banner, Abidi, Hoost, Ignashov, Sefo, Feitosa , mighty Mo and all other great fighters. This is nowhere near that.

One of the main successes of Rico's fights is the little knee strikes he places as soon as he holds on to his opponent. And he gives another one when the referee separates them. His opponents no longer have any legs at all in the 4th and 5th rounds.

@@Mauvaiseodeur Rico is ver stiff. Im a Croat and talented in many sports. Cro Cop, Fedor etc. movement was like fluid. But Rico is stiff, strong. Compare Ernesto Hoost fluidness to Ricos stiffness. But u cant see it, if ur not talented. I can feel movements and learn fast. When he moves he.looks like me after 2 weeks. Im not braging. He has other qualities like dursbility, chin, big legs. Its weird. He doesnt look impressive like Cro Cop, but still wins the title. A prime 2003 Cro Cop wud destroy him come on..

So weird to not see Ricco landing his devastating lowkick ! Those made him so special , It looks like an other Ricco , but due to the surgerie i guess. We also can see here he's rusty beacuse the Ricco 2 years before would've KO Cookie badly ...Cookie in the match almost looks like a dead fish! Hope to see Ricco in better shape against stronger oppenants because it's always a pleasure so see him fight !

That wasn't a domination. A person doesn't dominate a punching bag. There was literally no fight in Osaro. Reminds me of the Francis and Derrick Lewis fight in the UFC. Clash of heavyweights, neither really doing anything spectacular.

При всем уважении к Верхувену, не считаю его самым лучшим.... Хотя так сложились обстоятельства, что все топы кикбоксинга ушли на пенсию или сильно сдали, чем парень из Нидерландов и воспользовался. Помню времена К1: Боньяски, Манхуф, Словински, Сэфо, Хаг, Аертс, Шилт, Крокоп, Леша Игнашев, Саки, ЛеБаннер, Чой, Сапп (тогда ещё вызов Тайсону бросал), Хуст, Фейтоса, Геркес, ударник-румын Моросану, Самедов, Абиди, Зиммерман, Лащенко... Уверен, многие помнят времена Оверима в К1. Вот были бойцы!!! Кто не смотрел , гляньте бой Словински - Яхия, это было нечто. А сейчас какие-то однотипные бойцы, однотипные бои... ничего интересного... Но Верхувен трудоголик, благодаря чему и добился результата. Молодец!

Love kickboxing, been following Glory since it started. I can't say there have been many 'bad' fights, but this is up there with the worst of them. Osaro didn't belong in there with Rico on the night and he lacked discipline because he couldnt do anything to Rico, so his temper was flaring. I'm not hating, but this was not Osaro's best and we were all expecting him to come out increasingly more technical and heavy handed from round 2 onwards and give Rico a real challenge for the title. Joe Valteleni's tone of voice was saying it all. I'm glad Rico won after being out for so long. 👍🏻

GLORY HW division is very boring but that is not Rico's fault. His opponents just suck balls. I miss the early K1 days. I think there can be only one man to beat Rico and that is Pereira but for him to gain 10+ kg is a bit much. They should do a crossover HW tournament for the Baddest man on the planet title;-)

Glover Texeira says Alex Pereira can weigh up to 240 pounds if he ever tries to win the UFC heavyweight belt. Out of combat, he weighs 228 pounds but anyway, he will never fight against Rico Verhoeven because he is under UFC contract and even I don't think he can beat Rico. I would have a different opinion if he had Ko Artem Vakhitov but in both meetings, the decisions were close. In mma it's different with size 4 gloves.

Osaro didn't make a fight, Rico neither! For a long time champ this fight was a disgrace to watch! Rico needs a strong fighter to make a decent fight, on his own he proofed he's nothing. Let's hope, Rico will be gone pretty soon so Glory can make a HW division that's better than it currently is!

@@Mauvaiseodeur Rico is ver stiff. Im a Croat and talented in many sports. Cro Cop, Fedor etc. movement was like fluid. But Rico is stiff, strong. Compare Ernesto Hoost fluidness to Ricos stiffness. But u cant see it, if ur not talented. I can feel movements and learn fast. When he moves he.looks like me after 2 weeks. Im not braging. He has other qualities like dursbility, chin, big legs. Its weird. He doesnt look impressive like Cro Cop, but still wins the title. A prime 2003 Cro Cop wud destroy him come on..

There weren’t a lot of good fighters in the tournament though. It’d be cool if they cross-promoted like with RISE.

We also can see here he's rusty beacuse the Ricco 2 years before would've KO Cookie badly ...Cookie in the match almost looks like a dead fish! Hope to see Ricco in better shape against stronger oppenants because it's always a pleasure so see him fight !

That wasn't a domination. A person doesn't dominate a punching bag. There was literally no fight in Osaro. Reminds me of the Francis and Derrick Lewis fight in the UFC. Clash of heavyweights, neither really doing anything spectacular.

Уверен, многие помнят времена Оверима в К1. Вот были бойцы!!! Кто не смотрел , гляньте бой Словински - Яхия, это было нечто. А сейчас какие-то однотипные бойцы, однотипные бои... ничего интересного... Но Верхувен трудоголик, благодаря чему и добился результата. Молодец!

That first judge apparently really loves Osaro. Had the fight close going into the 5th round the rest of the judges all had Rico winning comfortably.

@@geraldtraveller9804 How have they tested Plazibat but not Rico lol? Rico has pretty much fought everyone there is for him to fight. Also, Rico is much more expensive so when he does fight it needs to be a bit bigger event usually and those are harder to do as often for Glory.

Love kickboxing, been following Glory since it started. I can't say there have been many 'bad' fights, but this is up there with the worst of them. Osaro didn't belong in there with Rico on the night and he lacked discipline because he couldnt do anything to Rico, so his temper was flaring. I'm not hating, but this was not Osaro's best and we were all expecting him to come out increasingly more technical and heavy handed from round 2 onwards and give Rico a real challenge for the title. Joe Valteleni's tone of voice was saying it all. I'm glad Rico won after being out for so long. 👍🏻

GLORY HW division is very boring but that is not Rico's fault. His opponents just suck balls. I miss the early K1 days. I think there can be only one man to beat Rico and that is Pereira but for him to gain 10+ kg is a bit much. They should do a crossover HW tournament for the Baddest man on the planet title;-)
Glover Texeira says Alex Pereira can weigh up to 240 pounds if he ever tries to win the UFC heavyweight belt. Out of combat, he weighs 228 pounds but anyway, he will never fight against Rico Verhoeven because he is under UFC contract and even I don't think he can beat Rico. I would have a different opinion if he had Ko Artem Vakhitov but in both meetings, the decisions were close. In mma it's different with size 4 gloves.

Good fight he did not get a chance to get into his rythm. It is really easy to spot when Rico is going for a kick though.

Osaro didn't make a fight, Rico neither! For a long time champ this fight was a disgrace to watch! Rico needs a strong fighter to make a decent fight, on his own he proofed he's nothing. Let's hope, Rico will be gone pretty soon so Glory can make a HW division that's better than it currently is!
