    • What Oliveira says (he wasn't there etc) should apply to Makhachev when he fought Volk. Because unlike Oliveira, Makhachev fought with less rehydration time than usual in Australia, so that wasn't Makhachev's best as well if we are believing Oliveira that he wasn' there. I still didn't see any difference in Dariush fight, Oliveira got taken down by Dariush and Makhachev is a better wrestler. He just landed a head kick on Dariush, if thats Oliveira's strategy it might not work because Makhachev's defense is better.

      @timurjack8773@timurjack87739 ай бұрын
    • @@timurjack8773Dariush never took took Oliveira down. Dariush early in the fight wanted to get close to Charles and tried to push him up against the cage, Oliveira reversed it and literally carried Dariush before attempting a trip. Charles ends up on his back (not a takedown) and while Dariush is on top he in never in control. He can’t escape Charles guard and every time he gets to half guard Charles is able to instantly return to guard. Like I said Dariush was never in control because of Charles ground defense, he actually did more damage to Dariush from his back than Dariush did to him. The fight only goes back to the feet when Charles finally decides he wants to, he then proceeds to outclass Dariush on the feet before ultimately getting the finish. This fight was complete domination from Charles, he was never in danger, he was never not in control. I look forward to seeing the rematch, I really believe that it will be a much closer fight and it could go either way.

    @JM-bx2vg@JM-bx2vg9 ай бұрын
    • In any sport it helps to do it at home in front your own fans. If you checked every single sport stat it definitely favors the odds. Of course there are exceptions like Derrick Lewis. He loses every time he’s home. Anyway it would help Charles a little to fight home. I’m a contractor and it’s easier for me to do my job in my area staying in my home than traveling thousands of miles and doing it. He’s not stalling he’s being honest and said he was playing a game and trying to get it home. He wins this one and he will gave more power in his fight location for sure. If they have a card in Brazil you can bet he’ll be on that card. UFC has contract with Abu Dhabi and have to do so many big cards there because of fight island. I don’t think it’s fair that Charles had to fight in Islams backyard when he was champ and then has to do it again. And yes it’s Islams backyard and where he wants to fight-he doesn’t want to travel and fight in Brazil just like Charles didn’t want to do it on the last fight. It’s more work and pain in ass to travel that far and definitely has an impact on you. Charles could beat most ppl that Islam beat and Charles could beat the guy who KOd Islam and i don’t think Islam could beat all the people that Charles has. MMA math never works but is interesting. Just like Holly beating Ronda then goes on to lose against Meisha who Ronda beat twice. Mindset in this game is everything and traveling that far effects mindset and body and takes more from that person to win.

Most people didn't even follow Makhachev's career; they didn't know who he was 2 years ago and didn't even know he was in the UFC since 2015. People were too caught up in the Oliveira hype and dismissed Makhachev's entire game, including Oliveira's camp. Oliveira knew Makhachev was a high level grappler. His ego ran away with him. He tried to outsmart the smarter fighter and he ended up losing at his own game. I guess it was trendy to make fun of Makhachev's skillset at the time...They're not making fun of his skills now, i'm telling you. But some people still think Makhachev ain't that good and that Oliveira just "underestimated" him. I don't buy that. It was just a built-in excuse. He knew it was the most important fight: Vacant title; Abu Dhabi; Khabib in the corner, etc. He knew what was coming...

  • Ive noticed 1 particular fight characteristic Charles has honed in on, apart from other fighters. When Charles strikes (punch/kick), he committs accurately & FULLY to his target. What i mean is, most fighters are hand fighting, guaging space, feinting, touch jabbing, light leg chopping, feeling each other out. Not Charles. Round 1. He eliminates his opponents space, gets as close as possible & executes his strikes right down the pipe, almost shoulder to shoulder. To me, it almost looks like he is an entire body length or full footstep forward toward his opponents space when he strikes. As opposed to most fighters keeping some kinda space & finding a partial distance to strike from, without being almost nose to nose. I could be wrong, but i think most fighters, expect a particular rhythm, setting, dance. And they get thrown entirely off guard by Olivera not wasting anytime. I would assume that this makes it very difficult for his opponents to make any adjustments in time. They just keep scrambling, trying not to get hit. And for me personally, Charles has the dopest MMA of all, because he is so versatille at mixing up everything so smoothly. From stand-up/boxing, to muay thai, to grappling, to wrestling, to kickboxing/tae kwon do to jui jitsu. He mixes it all up, uses it all & most importantly, executes the application of each fighting style, in real time, without thinking or hesitation. I dont even think he thinks about it. It just flows, like Bruce Lee said, Be like water. He is definitely on a different plateau. I mean, come on, other fighters talk about being excited to watch him fight. Hes a fighter's fighter.
