I always find it wholesome how wild animals are in panic, but then calm down when they realize ppl are trying to help and thst the pain is part of the healing... In the end he didn't even have to hold on to the squirril, it seemed aware that they wasn't trying to hurt him!

Imagine you have like two basketballs, one lodged in your neck and other in your tummy. It hurts but there nothing you can do. Then one day two giants come up, pick you up, literally grab you in their hands and just when you think you're dead, they remove the basketballs and pet you and then let you go. Hell of a ride.

- Уже не первое такое видео смотрю. Не понятно, где, какая страна это, что такое с белочками про-т. Что-то здесь не так. Как будто эксперименты проводят с белками. Их поймать сложно. А у них как будто, белки приходят табунами на приём, перед этим по эмиас записываются. Много таких видосов. В некоторых, вообще, кучи этой мерзости вытаскивают.

The person removing these bugs is a rookie. You need to twist and pull slowly. She is going too fast and not turning the tweezers. You did a great thing helping this poor squirrel :)

- She also was at a disadvantage using what looked like household tweezers, instead of a needle-nose surgical type instrument. Still, it seemed to work pretty good thankfully.

If you put Vaseline in the hole first it will come out further in order to breath and you can get it out without all that squeezing

- This. The botflys also have little hooks on their sides that they use to try and prevent their hosts (or anything else) from pulling them out. By suffocating them, they won't be able to use said hooks and come out much easier.

Not a criticism but rather a suggestion for next time is to wiggle the worm side to side, pulling it straight out allows the spines on it's body to hook in more.

- @@Arsespankin I've done this before, for feral cats though. The kitties I've done this for learned quickly to trust me, even though they remained scared of other humans. You can literally see their relief once the parasite is removed. I'm taking a wild guess it's not much different for a squirrel, the poor little fella absolutely understands the big hairless creatures just helped save it's life. 👍

It kinda bothered me that he was rubbing the open wounds with Dirty Gloves On 🧤 idk 😐🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ but overall glad they were able to remove those Nasty things , Poor Lil Squirrel 🐿

Thank you for posting this video. I was so happy to see someone trying to actually help the little squirrel. I've seen so many people posting videos of squirrels that are just completely covered in these botflys but nobody ever trys to do anything to help. It was nice to see a happy ending for a change!!!!☺❤❤❤😀

You're supposed to apply some type of oily or greasy ointment first. The bot fly attaches itself inside its hole. The ointment prevents bot fly from a firm grasp. Also, they frequently come to surface for air. Ointment makes them release their claws inside their hole. How painful to repeatedly "dig and dig". Probably get advice from vet first before performing at home. Thank you for helping this little critter. But next time try ointment. It will go so much faster and easier. :-]

Been watching these extrications for some time & wiggling the larvae as it's being extracted is the winning formula....but make absolutely certain that there ARE NOT multiple larvae occupying the same embedment as well!
