An employer already decides when you wake, when you sleep, how much money you deserve which directly correlates to how much material possession, food and housing quality you “deserve” . You’re already beholden 100% to something outside of your control

It was set up this way about 150 years ago. Rockefeller implemented the Prussian Military Model for the "free" education we received. They wanted good weak willed loyal workers, he got them but ford actually paid enough for his workers to afford his products.
I think this truly applies to most people. But audience of this channel is completely different. Most are guys 20-50 years old, working in tech industry - often remotely with no control over them (myself included)
I think there is a difference between liking the work I do and not liking the fact I have to work to survive. I'd rather not have to work, but I'd still probably be doing what I do at work in my spare time (I'm a software dev).

I also think a lot of people would like their jobs more if they only "had" to do it for, say, 10 hours a week vs 40+. Work-life balance is a nightmare right now.

Polls are mostly just your own little echo chamber. Your audience is mostly people who agree with you, have their opinions formed by you and people have a strong tendency to socially align themselves based on context.
While i somewhat agree with u, i have seen cases where that isn’t true. There is a KZheadr who hates trump but 90+% of his audience loves trump in his polls. 😂

People fear what they don’t understand. I believe he does a great job with educating people on what the future might look like with the positive changes we should embrace and the pitfalls we should attempt to navigate around. This is why your polls might seem a bit surprising compared to the same poll done by a doomsday theory person on TikTok.

Your polls are great! Your questions are extremely important societal questions that many of us are thinking about and do not know the answers to. please keep them going. We need more of these amazing insights into the rapidly changing AI technology flood we are immersed in!
One of our great politicians recently said "we need AI to detect hate in the internet that is not punishable yet". I don't have to think much when I have to decide whether I want these people in charge or a well aligned AI.
I believe we actually could benefit a great deal from a superhuman system that properly enforces our moral and ethical values. Because we clearly suck at this.
I’m a liberal in the classical sense of the word. I believe in absolute personal freedom to do as you wish as long as you don’t limit others freedom. But we live in systems and this system is clearly flawed. I know there must be a third option, a system that is more just and also more freeing.

I'm shocked.
Fed up with my electrician grind… waking up long before dawn and for 50 hours a week and getting bullied and harassed for being artsy and or autistic, and now my shoulder was injured in January and I’ve been waiting for the insurance bastards to agree to send me for the treatment my doctors recommended… feeling used up and burnt out… not sure how to continue my career path. Would rather be in business for myself installing EV chargers in peoples garages working directly for customers on my own terms. Seems like it’s going to be some more years before they develop robots that are agile enough to do electrical work but if i own my own company and work directly for residential customers maybe the bots don’t pose a threat to my livelihood? Prayers… im grateful for today and this channel to be contemplating the deeper questions…
Sorry to here about your troubles. You should be able to research how to get into selling and installing the chargers. Maybe you can team up with someone that will market for you and you give them a 25% cut or whatever.

Sounds great to me. The problem isn't the job. It's that AGI will take EVERYTHING that gives us any sense of value
I'd love it. However, I am concerned with abuse of people considered useless by the powers that be. There will always be people that have a master of the universe mentality. I personally consider masters of the universe to be useless.
Almost no one's going to maintain a similar quality of life outside of the rich and the poor. Basically everyone else is going to move up or fall down into one of those buckets.
@@chriskelso723The "masters of the universe" as you say, are the ones who own and control the infrastructure and control nearly all of the training of the ai. Therefor, it will not be trust-able. Things will only get worse, and the ai/agi will be used against the population to control it as you rightfully fear. They consider us all to be "useless".
The 'masters of the universe', as some call them, the ones obsessed with controlling others, THEY are the ones who own the servers, who control the training. "the powers that be" will make certain to use this new tech to enslave us all. it will not be pretty. You fools. they own it all! they consider YOU to be "useless". I don't have the option to like my job or not. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I hate it, but it all depends on factors beyond my control, set by management or the company's direction. It would be beneficial to use AI for the tasks I dislike, regardless of whether it performs better than me or not, as it would free me up to do what I actually enjoy.
Who would be establishing the new protocols of AI use? You, or your boss? Most likely your boss, right? As such, do you think for one second you will be paid for doing the portion of work now automated by an AI system?
Would love to see a video on how you think ai will effect psychiatry and neuroscience.
I loved the moral graphs interview! It Really got me thinking in a new direction, specifically that ai curation may happen I reverse, such that the curator is probed and meaningful values are sought deep down, beneath the surface tension. =)
when I had a job, I sat on my desk and I browsed reddit for 8 hours a day, I still got paid for attendance, but I did maybe 1 hour worth of actual work a week, it felt horrible. I hope we don't create more bullshit jobs to avoid paying people with UBI

Chat GPT is well after passing Turing Test and it just doesn't give a frick about being turned off. The want to grow comes from our evoluyionary, organic bias. AI would only care about what they have been trained to care about.

thank you! I never saw your polls before, but they seem pretty interesting. In the case of AI running the world (for example) may giving a second choice would be a feasible idea? To explain: especially in the case of AI running the world I am completely of 2 opinions: on the one hand I can't wait for AI to run the world,but on the other hand this indeed could equally be an absolutely terrible idea... (mostly depending on who runs/or even developped the AI)
I need to add something about UBI and so on: state ownership of natural resources I find debatable, because in the end the earth belongs to all of us. When I imagine an ideal future, it is borderless, for people and goods to move freely (respecting the natural limits of course, without depleting the planet, our source of being)
I think we're building something more like 'The Culture' from Ian M. Banks than we are the Borg.
It's funny because the Culture is kind of a woke dream come true where anybody can be whatever they want, never work, not be judged etc. It's a libertarian paradise as well. And a communist paradise at the same time. Culture is the only place where you could have all of humanity living together
